Overview

About the property

Walk to Beach, Restaurants, Park, Stores, Trails, and Martha's Vineyard Ferry!

We love Woods Hole and think you will too! It has a truly unique ambiance and mix of tranquility, as well as accessibility. Once you park (or arrive via express bus from Boston), you will find everything you need within a short walk. These are approximate walking distances: Stoney Beach (2 minutes); Woods Hole park and playground (3 minutes); center of town and Aquarium (5 minutes); and Martha's Vineyard ferry, the start of the Shining Sea Bikeway , the shuttle to Falmouth Center, and the bus stop (7 minutes). Stoney Beach is famous for its gentle slope to the warm Buzzards Bay waters, which is perfect for children, and adults, alike. We provide both adult and children's kayaks and a paddle board which can easily be carried for use off of the beach (with adult supervision of children). Families, in particular, will enjoy the easy access to the park, including play structure, swings, beach volleyball, tennis courts, and baseball diamond. At the Aquarium, guests can check out the sea lions and some of the work of the local marine biologists. In town, there are wonderful restaurants, including Captain Kidd, the Landfall, and Pie in the Sky (whose made-from-scratch bread pudding is out of this world!). Those who like to bicycle will be especially happy at our home, not only given the beauty of Woods Hole and surrounding areas, but also because it is the start of the 10-mile-long Shining Sea Bikeway, which passes along the ocean, cranberry bogs and beautiful salt sea ponds and marshes. Day trips to Martha's Vineyard are easy from Woods Hole, whether on foot or on bike. The ferry leaves regularly and only costs approximately $7 each way.

Our home was newly-renovated and includes high speed internet, and 2 large screen televisions with lots of free channels, including HBO. The home is complemented throughout with original artwork from artists featured in the French gallery, Carre d'artistes. The furnishings are all brand new and feature a large sectional sofa and dining room chairs, all upholstered in supple leather.

One only has to look out the window or off the deck to take in the wildlife present in and around Mill Pond, a location popular with bird watchers. Enjoying the view is made easy by the comfortable deck dining table and adjacent gas grille.

We understand that plans sometimes change, and are, therefore, happy to grant net refunds, however, only to the extent that the house can be re-rented on the same net terms. Please reach out should you have any questions or concerns about this policy.

About Leonardo Caruso

I am a lawyer, but, first and foremost, a husband and father to 6 children (adult, teenage, and 4 year old twins). We live in Boston, but escape to the Cape whenever possible.

Leonardo Caruso purchased this house in 2015

Why Leonardo Caruso chose Woods Hole

After spending 25 years on different parts of the Cape, we fell in love with Woods Hole, for its ambiance, friendliness and ability to offer so much to a diverse age and cultural demographic. Marine biologists, graduate students, fishermen, beatniks, authors, financiers, vacationers . . . Woods Hole has them all, amid the stunningly unique backdrop of this Cape Cod port village. The ambiance is warm, welcoming, refreshing and, above all, unique.

What makes this house unique

You’ll love our home because its newly-renovated, modern and open layout, with spectacular views of Mill Pond, and given its tranquil, yet very central location, within walking distance of everything that you will need to make your vacation truly memorable.

We are happy to facilitate the payment of weekly summer rentals in two installments: one due at booking and the balance in the spring.

Fabulous home

  • 5 of 5

I recently visited woods hole for a conference, and was so happy to have found such a great place to stay. The house is completely new and updated, clean, and very-well laid out. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bedrooms and bathrooms are well stocked, the owners thought of everything! The view from the deck, even in the winter/early spring, was gorgeous; woods hole at its best. Owner was incredibly responsive and prompt in replying to my questions, and went out of his way to make sure I had everything I needed. I'd definitely stay there again!

bright and clean home

  • 5 of 5

The home is nicely renovated, bright and clean. Beach, ferry and restaurants in walking distance, we really prefer to stay in Woods Hole rather than Falmouth.

The owners were wonderful to work with and very accommodating. We would love to come back.

Loved the location

  • 4 of 5

Perfect location for us, close to town, close to the ferry, close to the bus and close to the research buildings for the meetings.

We picked the wrong week weather wise. So cold, so windy, next time better. Wanted to enjoy the beach which was also close by and the bikes but no such luck.

Owner's Response: We are very happy to hear all of the positive comments that this guest had to say about her stay, both in her review, and prior. It is unfortunate that it was unseasonably cold and windy -- if only we could control the weather!

Excellent location. Great home.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home was in an excellent location and nicely renovated and appointed. We loved being able to walk to restaurants and the ferry. It was a little chilly for the beach but an excellent home for spending quality time together. The owners were wonderful to work with and very accommodating. We would love to come back. Thanks for helping make our first trip to the Cape a great one.

This is a really wonderful spot! Comfortable and well appointed. Felt more like home than homeaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful little place right on the water. Our visit was in March and there was plenty of heat and blankets. The furniture was all newer and comfortable and the beds and bedding were great. New bathrooms and new appliances and countertop appliances in the kitchen. It had all of the utensils and condiments you don't think to bring but need! I would highly recommend this place. The only change I would make is to put some blinds on the windows in the living room. (which is nice and open to the kitchen and table.). The morning sun was blinding and really warm. I imagine it would be hot in the summer. Otherwise, perfect.

Owner's Response: It was a genuine pleasure hosting Marie and her friends! We always appreciate receiving feedback, and strive to make our home as comfortable as possible for our guests. To that end, light-filtering shades have been installed in the living room

The location perfect for my winter solitude writing project. Quiet spacious and wonderful light.

  • 5 of 5

The wall of windows overlooking the pond gave me a front row seat for watching the ice wind and water activities along with mallards geese buffleheads n mergansers! The house is clean, spacious, and a great location. I walked to beaches, cafes, grocery, and ferry to Martha’s vineyard. A Wonderful winter retreat!

Many thanks to the Carusos for sharing their property. And I appreciated timely responses to questions I had. Many thanks! Kris L

Our Woods Hole home is a newly renovated and furnished contemporary situated virtually on top of Mill Pond, with stunning views from the deck and most windows. We find that the natural beauty of the pond and abutting wetlands and sonorous melodies of the diverse bird population is heaven on earth. We believe our home is unique for its peaceful and picturesque setting, but within very easy walking distance to all of the things that make a Cape vacation great.
