Uniquely rustic feel with modern amenities.

  • 5 of 5

The Barn was a lovely unique place to stay for vacation. The gourmet kitchen was fun and useful. The abundant light and exposed beams made it feel rustic, but it had modern amenities one needs on holiday. Great location and the concierge was pleasant and promptly responsive to any questions.

Beautiful home, Rustic Elegance

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for the weekend with a group of couples/friends - it was the perfect home for our group. There were plenty of bedrooms, and plenty of space throughout the house that allowed for everyone to relax exactly how they wanted to! We took our dog to the beach, went into downtown Saugatuck, and spent part of the day just relaxing on the deck and in front of the fire - absolute perfection!! We also took advantage of working with Kathy to schedule a private chef's dinner one of the nights and were all so happy that we did! The meal was delicious and it was a perfect way to end our trip. We will definitely be coming back to The Barn!

Beautiful home, just as described

  • 5 of 5

The Barn is a beautiful home, masterfully decorated. You can tell that this home has the love of it's owner. The kitchen, with it's two sinks, professional stove, and beautiful countertops was a pleasure to cook in and spend time. The floors a pleasure to walk on. The elevated porch off the back was marvelous, private and relaxing, such a beautiful place to read. The bathrooms were easy and beautiful.

My only three negatives with the home was the lack of yard to play ball outside, the lack of cupboard space to put clothes and food, and there is a mildewy smell in the basement level. My son and I have a sensitivity to mold, but as long as we didn't spend time in the basement, we were just fine. The beauty and the ease of the home otherwise outweighed these relatively minor negatives. I would definitely stay here again.

Uniquely Beautiful Cottage - Perfect for Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is amazing! It is the perfect blend of rustic with all of the upgrades. When I say rustic, it has the appearance of a barn inside and out as it is architecurally built that way; however, the place has immaculate bathrooms and a kitchen to die for. We only went out to eat once, because the kitchen begs you to cook in. There were two families staying there, including 5 children under the age of 8. They loved it as well, as they had plenty of room to explore. My children kept asking if we could move there, they liked it so much.

The location is not on the water, but has very easy access to two public beaches (Douglas and Oval). In addition, you can quickly reach both Douglas and Saugatuck downtowns. It is less than a mile walk to the Chain Ferry that crosses into Saugatuck, as well as Douglas Beach. I wish we had our bikes, as we would have been able to get everyplace with them...keep that in mind when you book this cottage.

The bedrooms and bathrooms were well appointed. The towels were soft and plentiful, the kitchen was stocked with spices, there was a DVD player, a stereo, and a gorgeous deck to admire the sereen surroundings. The only thing missing was a blender to make frozen cocktails -- you may want to bring your own...if you're into that.

I would definitely recommend this place, and if we travel back to Saugatuck I will stay here again!

What a lovely get-away

  • 5 of 5

Stunning property; huge bedrooms and entertaining area. Terrific kitchen and a fun balcony--perfect for brunch. Easy walk to the beach, downtown Doug/Sauk. Walkable to the ferry. We had a lovely time and plan to come back every year. Can't imagine a summer without The Barn.
