Very nice clean comfortable, cozy and very easy access to lake . Didn't want to leave . Can't say enough thanks for great time
Our family just loved our stay at the Beach Bucket! The kids swam and played on the sandy beach while we sat on the porch and relaxed. Close to the bridge for a day trip to mackinaw city and the U.P.
Only comment, as another stated, would be nice to have a dryer, but by no means a deal breaker.
We had such a good time and loved our week on Douglas lake! Even with the weather, we still managed to enjoy all the perks of being so close to Petoskey, charlevoix, and harbor springs while also relaxing and reading in the cozy cottage. We hope to come back soon!
We rent a new place every summer and this is the first place we would definitely visit again. Everything from the communication with the owner (all the great info/tips supplied through Homeaway) down to the location and amenities here were wonderful. The cabin is a perfect mix of modernity and vintage charm. The coffee cups and jam jar juice glasses took me back to my great grandmother's kitchen and left me smiling. The beach is sandy and shallow, perfect for our almost 6 year old. Just enough sandy beach for a sandcastle or two, some shell hunting and rock collecting. Morning sunrises were beautiful over a cup of coffee and the paddle boat was a nice addition to cruise up and down the shoreline. Kitchen is well stocked with anything you might need.
Location couldn't be better. Within 30 minutes of Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Mackinaw and Cheboygan. Left us plenty of options for days we didn't want to spend playing in the water. If you have littles and fancy craft beers and michigan wines. Check out Pond Hill Farm in Harbor Springs. Definitely hit the Legs Inn in Cross Village as well. Awesome place for the view the grounds and the food!
Our only critique would be updating the mattresses and perhaps reducing the number of chairs around the main dining table so that it is more functional.
Thanks so much!
We usually stay in a hotel for vacation.. This year we decided to try a cabin rental. We are SO glad we did. We had a great time on the water. Fishing, paddle boat, canoeing, and kayaking kept everyone busy. Will be sure to come back!!
I vacationed on Douglas Lake as a young teen and so did my dad. I was happy to find the perfect vacation for my technology dependent family! Great experience for My kids kayaking, paddle boating and canoeing! With Mackinac Island so close it was a great day trip to spend as a family. We will definitely come back as everyone learned to enjoy each other as a family again!
the Beach Bucket is located just east of Pellston, & north of Indian River off Riggsville Road(20 Min to Indian River, Cheboygan, Mackinaw City, 10 Min to I-75!) close to Burt Lake, Pellston Airport, Golf, Mackinac Island ferries
