If you've ever lived near a riverside, you'll know the pure joy of listening to a babbling brook - especially at night when your sense of hearing is increased by the quiet and gazing out at the stars. During the day it's a wonderful visual experience as well; to watch the dance and splash of water as it weaves its way down the rocks and pathway to the sea. Add to that the amazing bird and wildlife that abound beside a creek, and you will have sounds and sights galore. The grassy ' beach' is a great place to seek shade inside the over-arching ' Green Tree Tunnel'. As you relax in the hammocks and lounges, you will enjoy a refreshing feeling of being fully alive.... and just like living near the ocean and listening to the waves, your creekside stay will fill you up with the wonderful joy of being immersed in nature.
We are a Family from North Carolina & REALLY enjoyed this place so much that we will surely be back again - next time with more Friends! The river is such a close walk & you can hear it at night while gazing at Milky Way & Stars that spin overhead. This is like being in storybook land or Fairy Tale; at "Grandma's" House - Over the River and thru the woods... you know this will be a Vacation we will never ever forget for the rest of our lives. The interior of the home is excellent & more than spacious & beautiful, but the closeness to Nature combined with the extras of country living makes this a very special and unique place. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
The house was adequate, but with several problems. The wifi was not working -- the bill wasn't paid, and we had to make several calls to property manager to get it taken care of, and he even tried at one point to say it was an 'extra' cost (even though it was listed as an amenity on the property description, with no mention of extra cost). Took 2 days before it was up and running. This also meant the TV didn't work. The house was freezing when we arrived, and it was difficult to locate the heat and figure out how to use it (there's a different knob in every room, and many of them have no temperature markings on them). There were no written instructions, or notices about space heaters, etc. The rec room took 2 full days to heat to the point of being able to be in it without coats, while the bedrooms got too hot and were difficult to cool back down, even with the heat turned off in them. Empty shampoo bottles or little/no soap in bathrooms was an inconvenience, so we had to make an unexpected grocery run for those items. Toilet paper holder was broken in the master bath and a rubberband was a makeshift holder, which broker after a day or two. Many challenges for a winter stay.
This house has lots of space and we really enjoyed being on the creek and close to town.
The cleaning team did not finish cleaning till 5:00 so we had to wait for them. I would stay there again.
With our family of 7 adults in the home, there was plenty of room for social and private space, close enough to walk to town, shop and enjoy the activities. The back-yard was peaceful and private with a flowing stream to enjoy. This property was excellent for our visit to the area. The home was clean and functional and we would rent this property again.
Ok house, but not ready when it should have been, broken Internet, not a "fully" stocked kitchen, and many other little things that were less than perfect. READ THE CONTACT CAREFULLY! The contact says that things may be broken and no matter what (even if the house isn't ready when it was supposed to be!) there are no refunds! I would not book this house again.
We highly enjoyed our stay at your home and will look forward to visiting it again. There was plenty of room and the property was spectacular. Thank you for letting us stay . The only complaint was the bill for the internet had not been paid so we were not able to access the Wi Fi ~
We enjoyed our weekend stay and everyone had a very relaxing time. Owner provided great directions for getting to the lodge and access for checking in. The home was very clean with lots of nice amenities. Common area rooms were very large and open with a lot of seating room. The dining room sat 8 and was convenient to the kitchen. We really enjoyed the access to the creek and seating behind the home. The covered outdoor deck was a great feature. Lots of parking available at the home. The downstairs bedroom and master bath were both very large and open. There was plenty of wild life to see and enjoy with a red fox den within sight of the deck and lots of deer roaming the property all day to enjoy. The Hummingbird nest by the back door was also very during our visit. Location to downtown was an easy 12 minute walk to the busy downtown main street area coffee shops , thrift/consignment stores, and restaurants and new part of downtown and additional restaurants was even closer. We enjoyed some great food and elk burgers across from the great downtown coffee shop. Lots of extras to do if so inclined like pool table, swing set, horseshoes, and cards and books were everywhere to enjoy. Wi fi was easy to access and seemed faster than what I use at home. I would highly recommend this home/lodge if you want a nice peaceful place to visit with family or friends. Buena Vista CO is a great town. We also enjoyed our short 30 minute drive to visit Cottonwood Pass and the Continental Divide.
