Great place, great location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I loved our stay at Peter's cabin. We brought our two small children (7 months and two years) and our dog, and it was perfect for us. The lake is a bit quieter than the other lakes on the chain, which is nice. We had an eagle visit us every morning in the same tree and we got to see him catch and eat his breakfast. We also saw deer and woodpeckers.

We rented a pontoon for the entire week so we got to see the entire chain of lakes. We especially liked beaching it on Eagle Lake near the public beach, and also loved Cranberry Island on Cranberry Lake. We also took the boat to have meals at the Eagle Waters Resort on Eagle lake and the Chanticleer--both were great and highly suggested. Other meals were prepared right at home in the kitchen or on the new grill.

Another positive here was the furnishings--it felt more like staying at a friend or family member's cabin than renting. The couches and chairs are brand new, the cookware and dishes were high quality as well.

If we return to Eagle River we'll consider renting this cabin first.

Great Northwoods Getaway!

My family really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The property is phenomenal and has all the amenities you need for your stay. The new pier is great and shoreline is excellent for swimming. Can’t wait to comeback next year.

We had a great time. The pier is new and really nice. The cabin was very clean. We rented a pontoon and toured the lakes. There is a great sandy area on Eagle Lake that we went to.

Had a great stay at Peter's place and would definitely rent from him again. Very easy to communicate with him and the space was perfect for our family. Clean and comfortable with friendly neighbors. Walking down to the lake for morning coffee was quite peaceful. Highly recommend!

Peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

Cozy cottage in very well maintained condition. Peter has made some updates and nice touches which aren't in the photos - gas grill, Keurig coffee maker, cute Fiesta dishes, a collection of movies on hand, and the new comfortable reclining leather furniture was a plus. Lots of wildlife just outside your door, we even had an eagle perched in the pines right next to the pier. There's a canoe available and we enjoyed exploring Deerskin River which is just to the east. If you don't bring your own boat, pontoon rentals are nearby. We opted to take a tour with Bill's Guide Service and Scenic Boat Tours and Bill had lots of interesting (although probably embellished) stories about the homes and their famous/notorious owners on Catfish and Cranberry Lakes. A private tour is reasonably priced, especially compared to renting a boat. We'd highly recommend staying here!

Lake Cabin Retreat

  • 4 of 5

Cozy, clean cabin with a great deck and view of the lake. Enjoyed the fireplace on the cold, rainy days we were there. Great place to read, relax, and watch nature--deer, otters, birds, foxes. Close enough to Eagle River to get provisions, but just far enough for an "in nature" feel. The lake can get noisy on weekends 'though.

Peter was very attentive and accommodating via text to our questions and concerns.

The only drawbacks we had were the television reception and the dvd player. There are only four channels the television receives; no cable/satellite. Internet/wifi reception is good. Great selection of dvds, but we couldn't figure out how to make the dvd player work. Written instructions for the dvd player might be helpful.

Owner's Response: DVD player is fixed. Previous renter had unplugged the power cord from the wall.
