Lovely quiet Sunset Bay is 10 minutes along Lake Erie from the tourist town of Port Colborne. This cottage was just tastefully refurbished. It has 2 bedrooms and a sleeper sofa, with a new queen bed, and 2 new twin beds. ( Sleeps 4-5 ). Lovely lake views, an open lofted living dining kitchen space with beam ceilings and deck. There is a boat launch area also. Full bath with shower, fireplace heater for chilly nights, outdoor firepit for night fires, new flat screen TV for watching movies. Spacious lawn overlooking the calm and tranquil beach and bay. Port Colborne is a lovely quaint town with great shops, a farmers market, the Welland Canal and many summer events. You can also go antiquing in Port or Wainfleet, or visit Marshall's chocolate shop in Wainfleet. Drive for 45-50 minutes to Niagara On The Lake to see plays at the famous Shaws Summer Theatre Festival, have dinner, see Niagara Falls and visit one of the many wineries. This is a wonderful home for families, or a couple who need a getaway.
My sister and I grew up on the same lane where this cottage is located and have wanted to have a cottage right on the lake for years. We finally did it ! We are both artists and designers so we have tried to make this home unique, interesting and comfortable for guests. We hope you will enjoy it !
Claudia Langman purchased this cottage in 2012
It is unique in that the floor plan is open with the exception of the bedrooms so it has a very spacious feel. With floor to ceiling windows on 3 sides, the lake view is beautiful, and always present.
The property has it's own private access to the beach and easy boat launch access. This bay is one of the calmest in the area which makes it uniquely safe for children, and great for water sports !
My husband and I decided to get away with our two preschool aged boys - and this was the perfect place to go!
The cottage was clean, organized and stocked with everything we needed. The area was beautiful and the town was fun to explore together. We look forward to staying (longer!) next summer!
Thank you for such a relaxing (well, as relaxing as a vacation gets with two little boys) vacation away from the business of everyday life.
My wife, 1 1/2 year old daughter and myself recently enjoyed a very relaxing long weekend at this cozy cottage in Port Colborne. It had all of the amenities we needed, and was exactly as described on VRBO - no surprises, which is a good thing! The cottage was clean and comfortable, and the beach was great for reading, relaxing and an occasional dip. Add in a quick trip to the Port Colborne Farmer's Market, which made for some good home cooked meals, and it doesn't get much better. We look forward to another - hopefully longer - stay next summer!
The cottage was awesome. The beds were comfy and the kitchen had all the cooking equipment imaginable. It was like visiting someone's home. I'll definitely be back.
My 95-year-old grandmother's life-long wish has been to see Niagara Falls. We finally got to take her, and this cottage was the perfect place for our stay. This cottage is very clean and comfortable, and is just as pretty as pictured. It comfortably fit our family: grandma, our 11-year-old son, my husband and me. While some slept in, others walked the sandy beach. Three of us went on Lake Erie fishing charter with James Hall of Hall'em In Sportfishing, and caught 125 perch in about 3 hours! We drove to Niagara Falls, which is less than 30 minutes away. It was great to come home to our quiet cottage after a busy day of tourist activities. We would definitely stay here again!
My husband, 1 year old daughter and our dog stayed one week at this cottage. It was accurately described in the listing. You have access to the private beach. The water was warm, calm, shallow and sandy (once you got about 10 feet out). The property was very clean and well maintained. We took a day trip to Safari Niagara and our little one loved it. We also went to Port Colborne marina to use the playground, splash pad and have an ice cream cone. It was only a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Claudia and her sister responded to any concerns we had immediately. They made every effort to correct any little thing that we mentioned.
The beach access makes this place worth the money. I looked at several other cottages that were less expensive but had a longer walk or even a drive to the beach. With young children, you can't beat the location of this cottage! We could go to the beach several times a day.
My only recommendation is if you are used to sleeping in air conditioning, bring window fans. The ceiling fans don't always offer enough breeze if the temperature is in the 80's.
I'd highly recommend staying here and we hope to return next summer.
We were so glad we chose this sweet piece of haven over others. This cozy 2 bedroom cottage with a great beach view was ideal for us.
The living room had enough seating space to relax, play some board games(some provided by the hosts) or just enjoy your coffee with a breath taking view of the lake. There is a 6 seat dining table and a well equipped kitchen with lots of pots, pans, cutlery to meet your needs. The bedrooms are cute and cozy. This place is VERY CLEAN and well maintained. It's a home away from home.
We enjoyed our breakfast on the patio, took walks on the beach and collected some fancy shells and pebbles.
All your needs are just a short drive away.
The area is peaceful and serene. We look forward to visit again, soon.
Thanks Claudia. You made this trip work for us at a very short notice.
45 minutes from Niagara On The Lake, The Shaw Theatre Festival and Niagara Falls.
