Nestled in a tranquil Mokuleia neighborhood, this newly remodeled and fully furnished studio duplex is in a great location to enjoy Hawaii's best coastline. This is the perfect spot for travelers who want their own private space while allowing them to use the rest of their budget to seek out all the adventures Hawaii has to offer. The studio has air-conditioning, a full kitchen, outside shower, laundry facilities, queen-sized comfortable bed, a spacious bathroom and an outdoor seating area for you to enjoy food or drinks.
The sound of the rolling surf across the street creates an incredible audio backdrop to calm your senses on your vacation. Only a couple minutes walk away from an exclusive secluded beach, this home offers highly preferred access to the North Shore's best surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, diving, and fishing. A short drive will bring you to horse-back riding, glider rides, skydiving, hiking, and mountain biking. A bicycle path connects your home to convenient shopping and to historical Waialua/Haleiwa town (about a 20 minute ride). We have two beach-cruiser type bicycles for you to use free of charge if you want to take advantage of the leisurely lifestyle and avoid some of the parking hassles that can be associated with popular beaches. Also provided for your use are masks & snorkels, beach chairs and mats. All this so you can avoid using your vacation time to seek out these things and also for you to avoid packing it in your luggage just so the airline can charge you extra for it.
In addition to the great snorkeling at the beach nearby, there are also great waves for surfers, kayakers and body-boarders. Four surf breaks offer waves most times of the year - Silva Channels, Rodgers, Glass Doors, and Fujis are all within walking and paddling distance and visible from the beach access.
Our house is connected to the studio, however, you have a very private entrance on the opposite side of the house of our own entrance. You have guaranteed off-street parking and a secluded walkway to your door. You might hear some of our activities but we are generally quiet and are very respectful with our guests. We are also around a bit, and will enthusiastically give you tips and ideas for what to do and where to explore if you need it.
Our neighborhood is like that of a quiet country beach town. Small families, quiet residents, and acres of farmland all nestled up to a beautiful beach with clear turquoise waters. You can enjoy a stroll on the beach while watching the sunset, turtles, passing whales and occasional monk seals. In the summer months, perfect for snorkeling, surfing and swimming. In the winter months it is one of the surf meccas of the world with huge waves up to 30 feet, surf contests, and incredible surfers from around the world.
We are just out of range of buses, but we do have bikes you can use so you can live like a local. Haleiwa town, with great restaurants and boutiques is about a 20 minute bike ride away (all flat). Our beautiful beach is about a 2 minute walk. But in Hawaii is it definitely best to have a car as our public transportation system is not that good.
The start of the bike path is a mile away but you can ride along our quiet neighbor street to get there. Once on the bike path you will be able to access the quaint Haleiwa shops, cafes, restaurants, surf contests and beaches that stretch for miles along the coastline. For reference, Waimea Bay is about a 20 minute car ride, to get to Waikiki/Honolulu area is about 45 minutes.
Our names are Scott and Suzi and we are an active family of three. We've been living on this street for over 20 years and love it still so much that we decided to raise our family here. We surf, swim, snorkel, hike, fly at Dillingham Airfield, bike ride, etc. We love to be outside and we met out surfing in front of our house. We are happy to share this beautiful island with anyone who wants to experience it. We live on the property and are happy to answer questions about local spots, lend you sports gear, and generally be helpful. Or you could go your entire stay without seeing us at all, if privacy is what you prefer.
Scott Davis purchased this studio in 1988
Suzi grew up on this property, and it is situated directly across the street from the beach, giving you access to a private, secluded beach brimming with turtles, beautiful coral reef and wildlife. There is hardly ever anyone on the beach, except for a few surfers paddling out to catch epic waves. We also love the neighborhood, the people who live here, and the community. This is where you come to experience true paradise.
The benefits to this property are its proximity to the beach (such a short walk!) while still being affordable, making it possible to stay within a budget and enjoy this private neighborhood. It's far enough away from the North Shore tourist bustle to relax on your own without the crowds, while just being a short drive away to enjoy the surf contests, festivals, shopping and Hawaiian events in Haleiwa.
My husband and I spent a week here in June and we had a lovely stay. The accommodation itself was clean and comfortable and the outside shower and small patio area were great additions. Just a couple of minutes down a very quiet road is access to a beautiful beach and it is possible to hear the waves at night when you are sitting outside. The car parking space at the property also meant it was a great base for us to explore the rest of the North Shore. At the end of our stay, we were more than a little sorry to be leaving and we hope one day to return. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a cozy, comfortable base on the North Shore.
My fiance and I stayed here for two nights in June 2016 to attend a nearby wedding. It was the perfect spot for the two of us in a quiet neighborhood just steps to the beach. The studio is clean and cozy with a fridge and a good sized attached bathroom. There is snorkeling equipment available, an outdoor shower, and laundry machines. Scott was very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this studio to those looking for a quiet spot on the North Shore.
This country cottage was fantastic in every way. Nice and close to a spectacular secluded beach, all the amenities you need to cook your own meals, bath/beach towels, snorkels, washer/dryer, and best of all - bicycles. Scott was very helpful in making sure our stay was comfortable, and provided a nice list of activities, hiking trails, places to eat/drink, etc. The place was cozy, and had a nice outdoor area that we could hear the waves. I would recommend staying here, and definitely will stay here again for my next trip to the north shore
The place was a bit hard to find initially but once located we found it enjoyable.
We found the room clean and presentable, and the refrigerator had cold drinks for us! We were very impressed at the size of the bathroom.
The room was about a 5 minute walk to the beach and we could hear the waves on the beach at night.
Parking was good and the area was awash with things to do! We personally enjoyed many walks along the beach, both in the morning and at night.
One thing to note is that public transport in the area seemed to be very light-on, and it was providential we had a car for our brief stay. The room is not serviced by public transport at all, but I would suspect UBER services could be used quite effectively.
The owners were helpful and didn't intrude on our privacy at all, yet were available immediately when we locked our keys in the room.
As with any tourist attractive area, prices vary quite a bit between shops. I would encourage others to really restrain from spending any money until you have researched different shops and the prices. While we found some real bargains, a lot of our purchases were quite expensive, even when compared to Waikiki prices!
General groceries were a bit difficult to come by, and we ended up having to drive a bit to a Longs Drugstore for our consumables.
The restaurants and small eateries in Halaweia were excellent.
Any visitor to this area MUST set aside time to watch the sunset from Sunset Beach. We didn't have time ourselves to do any snorkelling, but I would recommend anyone set aside time for this activity themselves.
We recommend this rental for anyone wanting to base themselves along the North Shore of Oahu, and will encourage our friends to explore this place for any trips they may be taking to Hawaii in the future.
Small, cozy, private and clean studio cottage with a short walk to beach. Great for a couple, or private retreat away from Waikiki and Honolulu's hustle and bustle. Owner was accommodating but gave us our space. Sounds of tropical birds, roosters and the surf could be heard and I saw the Milky Way for the first time in decades. I chose Mokuleia area for nature, dark skies, and beach front, and was not disappointed. Waimea Valley Gardens, Haliewa Joes Seafood, and Haunama Bay snorkeling are my 3 best recommendations, as I drove almost everywhere on the island. The owner provides a thorough list of recommendations too. It was always nice to come back to Anna Banana Cottage for a peaceful night's rest. I almost didn't want to give this review because I want to keep it a secret and return year after year! But the Aloha Spirit has me sharing... :)
Anna Banana's country cottage is small but have all the essentials you need for a pleasant and cozy stay. The cottage was nicely furbished and clean and the owner provided us with all the essential information to make our stay hassle-free. I would recommend this property to people who spend their holidays outdoors and therefore don't need large space indoors.
