About Holly Sheets

This property is owned by Dave and Judy Graham and managed by their daughter Holly. This cottage is our home away from home. We hope you enjoy the coziness of this cottage with its owners original paintings and decor.

Holly Sheets purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Holly Sheets chose Nags Head

It's a 'true' beach cottage - its not a stark new cottage, but comfortable with lots of personality.

What makes this cottage unique

What makes this cottage so special? It's away from the hustle and bustle of Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk. The beach is rarely, if ever, overcrowded. Having a lifeguard on the beach in front of our cottage is comforting as we get older and have young ones still running the beach. There is also a walking/biking trail that runs for several miles.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We like all the artwork and decorations. We peeked online at the other LG cottages and they were dull. The puzzles were great for the 2 rainy days.

My family and friends had a wonderful time.

Nice little cottage

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice little cottage with just a short walk to the beach. It had all cooking utensils, appliances, etc., and was clean and welcoming. However, I do caution larger groups to be aware of one of the bedrooms. We had a small issue because one of them is a very small room that is quite a bit warmer than the rest of the house. We did some room switching and made it work. There is only three parking spaces available so if you have more than four vehicles you will need to figure something out for parking. Also, if you have a baby or small child you will absolutely need a baby gate because of the stairs. Overall I would recommend and would stay again.

Owner's Response: Thank your for your nice review Ashley. I'm sorry about the small room. I will make sure to have that checked as soon as possible. Yes, parking can be tricky at times, but most park along or at the end of the driveway. You are correct in telling that the house is not child proof - that is one thing I do stress in the description of the house. I hope you do visit again!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

The other reviews are spot on. Clean house, uniquely decorated, with plenty of kitchen stuff. Perfect location. The walk to the beach was closer to some I've stayed at that were beachfront but had a long board walk. The owner responded promptly to a question I had. The only minor complaint was that the washer and dryer was in a tiny bedroom which made laundry timing important (washing around sleeping / napping).

Beautiful beachy feel cottage. Plenty of room for the 9 of us.

  • 5 of 5

First off, don't worry about any kitchen appliances because it's alllll there. Nice view from the top deck of the roof, 100yrds to the beach if that far, two fishing piers within view. Annette's pier was super nice to fish off, blue fish were in all weekend so we ate good. Can't complain, we were on vacation and had a blast at the laughing gull. Thanks again Holly hope to visit again soon!

Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the Outer Banks region so we didn't know what to expect. We were so happy we chose this house. It is just south of all the touristy places but close enough that our teens could walk up the street for ice cream. The beach is just over the dunes. Grab your towel and you can be in the water in less than a minute! It's not too crowded and there is a lifeguard on this section of beach. the house itself is great. Nice rooms, extremely well-supplied kitchen, and plenty of space for hanging out. The second-level open air porch was a favorite of many. We would definitely stay here again!

Nice House, Great Location

  • 4 of 5

We loved the house & location, on the beach side and short walk to the beach. I would have given 5 stars but some of the beds need new mattresses.

From the listing:

Bedrooms: 4 Bedrooms, Sleeps 10, Beds for 10

Upstairs : 1 queen, 1 twin/ single

Downstairs: 1 queen, 1 twin/ single

Downstairs : 1 queen

Small Downstairs Bedroom: 1 double

Queen size Beds (3), Double Beds (1), Twin or Single Beds (2)

The beds upstairs (main living level) is likely where parents would sleep if just one family. There is a queen and single bed in the main bedroom, both very comfortable.

The issue for us was that we let our son & his friend stay in the main/master bdrm because they brought their Xbox and that room has a nice TV with connections for it (HDMI).

I slept in one of the lower level bdrms that had a double/queen and a single. The queen/double was lumpy and not comfortable so I slept in the single which was comfortable.

My wife stayed in another bdrm with our daughter, they slept in a double/queen and said it was lumpy/uncomfortable as well and preferred the single in that room.

There is another small bedroom on the lower level that has a queen, we did not try that.

So if adults are sleeping downstairs new mattresses & box springs are due, kids not so picky (or in pain from getting old).

Other than that we were very happy I just thought I should mention the beds.

Fishing on the banks was forever changed when the first fishing pier – Jennette’s Pier – was opened in Nags Head back in 1939.

in September 2003, Hurricane Isabel swept the North Carolina coast, knocking down about 540 feet of Jennette’s Pier and practically shutting down an Outer Banks institution. It then became time to rethink the fishing pier concept, with the Aquariums taking the lead to rebuild Jennette’s as an all-concrete, 1,000-foot-long, educational ocean pier.

Within walking distance from the cottage, Jennette's Pier is a must-see attraction.

The Outer Banks Pier is 1.1 miles south of the cottage and in the opposite direction is Jennettes Pier .8 of a mile. It is an older landmark pier that has an original beach feeling.

The Outer Banks pier offers, Fish Heads Bar and Grill,, that serves beer or wine, fried seafood baskets and much more. There is music every night during the warm months. It's a great little getaway after a long day on the beach.

Also don't forget the outdoor drama of the 'Lost Colony' in Manteo. First staged in 1937, The Lost Colony it is the nation’s premier and longest-running symphonic drama. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paul Green.
