Fantastic area, old old old building in apartment in centre of old Paris

  • 5 of 5

Modern bed, good shower, just adequate kitchen. Lively, colourful, romantic location with cafes, restaurants, small supermarket and weekend street market out the front door. So close to all the beauty of old Paris, 5 minutes to the metro, Rue de Rivoli with its clothing shops one way, and old churches and fresh artisan bread, meats and fruit and vegetables the other way. Hop, skip and a jump to Ile de la Cite and Notre Dame. We loved the cobbled streets and people. Didn't sleep much, but why would you in Paris? Apartment needed a top up in some things like tea towels and crockery - but that's easily fixed.

Thanks for an unforgettable birthday in Paris.

Perfect short stay in the heart of Paris for a couple

  • 4 of 5

Very simple classic Marais studio apt. Comfortable and firm bed, small kitchenette, very decent shower for Paris. Didn't supply soap, shampoo and limited toilet paper, but overall a VERY pleasant experience. Don't come expecting to cook a lot; this place is for people wanting to be out exploring the amazing local cuisine and if anything just getting coffee à emporter and some croissants in the morning. If you don't know Paris, a place so central in the best part of Paris is a really great find!

Perfect for a couple

  • 5 of 5

A perfect apartment for a couple! We loved our time here and would happily return. Charming, comfortable, with all the amenities you need. The bed was comfortable, the windows were big and bright and the shower was oversized and very clean. We also loved the nearby outdoor market and found everything we could ever want within a short distance. Public transportation is easy from this location making it very easy to navigate the city. But just sitting in the apartment and taking in the street life while drinking a glass of wine was sublime.

I rate this apartment as 5 stars. We loved it and were very comfortable.

Very comfortable stay!

Wonderful apartment - much better than staying in a hotel room. Clean and comfortable. Nothing too much for the friendly agent. Comfy bed which is so important. Great base to visit Paris. Will recommend to friends!

Good enough for a few days.

3 starts = it was average. Would I stay there again? First I would look at other options and probably go back to AirBnB, but if there was nothing else I would stay there again, that's fine (my spouse would probably disagree). It's in a good location. It's a studio, so it's one room, but it's pretty big with two windows providing a lot of light. There's a small kitchen area (didn't use) and a washer (didn't use). There's a TV (didn't use) and fast WiFi (did use that one). There's a decent size table in the room, with two chairs. Closet space is limited; i.e. there are closets but most space is taken up by stuff. Bathroom is small - just about right for one person. Towel warmer in the bathroom is a big plus.

Why 3 starts?

None of these are big issues by itself, but they accumulated and together became a little annoying... No soap. No toilet paper. Clogged shower (I mean, really clogged where water was barely draining). I didn't like the cash deposit requirement that was mentioned in a long email sent after booking, which I initially missed (the deposit part). Check-in could have been handled a lot better since there was someone with a key in the next building. Turnaround on communication with the owner takes a few hours (via email). On arrival you are asked to call contacts provided, but if you don't have a cell phone you are out of luck. Towels and bed linens had a slight mildew smell - just enough to notice, and it went away after a day (or we got used to it).

Owner's Response: Thanks Konrad. You are right to be disappointed by the lack of soap and toilet paper - this is most unusual and I have spoken with the agents about this as soap and toilet paper should always be in the apartment for you. The poorly draining shower is now fixed. Normally, the agent meets guests at the apartment. I understand that, exceptionally, this was not possible on this occasion. We would be delighted to welcome you in the future.

This apartment is tired and disappointing. The best thing about it is the great location.

There is insufficient hot water fir one person to have a shower long enough to wash and condition your haur without it going cold. The shower outlet blocked and needed cleaning out (owner admitted it happens every two weeks or so - so why isn't it part of their cleaning programme between stays?), the television is so small you can't see it from the bed and is really complicated to work, the cupboards are stuffed full of owners things in untidy disarray and the whole place needs a really good clean.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I was a little surprised by your comments. No one has ever remarked on insufficient hot water ( - there is a dial over which you have control if it is too cold). Again no one has ever said that the TV is too complicated to use - it's a simple TV with a cable TV box which most people will be very familiar with. I do not keep any belongings in the apartment and there is lots of space in the cupboards. I have spoken with the agent about cleanliness and he confirms that the apartment was professionally cleaned before your arrival.
