Lovely Log Cabin off the beaten path. Only wish we had more time to really enjoy it!

  • 5 of 5

The Log Cabin served as an awesome Groom family weekend home and groomsmen and both fathers man cave (Friday). Most of the groomsmen and a couple of the men and females are big game hunters! The location was great, 20 minutes from Sierra Vista, a beautiful wedding venue.

Nice place for a large group

  • 4 of 5

This was a really nice place that was clean and well taken care of for our various family members to meet for a long weekend while visiting our son at Liberty. There was plenty of space for everyone to have their own room or bed. The living room furniture was very comfortable and there was a nice large table for family meals, games, and puzzles.

The pictures are very accurate yet we ran into a few logistical errors when we got there mainly because of our 87 year-old grandma. She is very healthy and mobile but there are stairs from the ground level to the main living level and rather long steep stairs to the upper level. Given that she gets up at 4 a.m. to have her coffee and is the only tv watcher in our group, we gave her the master suite, since it is the only bedroom on the main living level and only tv on that level too. We hadn't really planned things that way but it was a good solution. She was going to stay at the cabin a couple times while we went off to do things, but she was a little creeped out by the taxidermy and felt too isolated especially with no cell phone service on her old school flip phone. All of us were able to text, email, and get on the satellite internet, but there was no actual cell phone calling service. There is a landline phone in the kitchen for emergencies.

It is a 25-30 minute drive to LU, and one route will take you right past Rookie's (formerly Mookie's) where you can get ice cream sandwiches made to order with homemade cookies and homemade ice cream for $3. The last few miles of roads to the cabin are quite narrow and the driveway is a very long single lane, but the directions were very good. Might be a little difficult to find in the dark. There is a pole barn type building and office with some parked trucks that looked like a maintenance station or business at the bottom of the driveway by the lake, which we weren't really expecting, but we never saw anyone or were bothered in any way. The area is quite wooded with the exception of the lake so no sweeping vistas but pleasant country feel. Nice to walk around the lake and down the drive while others fished in the pond. The kids also enjoyed the pool table and video game. Unfortunately we were not able to use the hot tub, as the owner informed us a few days ahead of our trip that it was being repaired. Plenty of paved parking for all our cars. It ended up working out well for us but not the best place for anyone with mobility issues.

Relaxing, Clean, Fun!

  • 5 of 5

This is a very comfortable and clean place for a fun getaway. The openness of the living/kitchen area allowed for everyone to be in the same space for meals, games, and conversations. The pool table and hot tub where nice to have for relaxing. Beautiful area as well! We would highly recommend this place to a friend.

Gorgeous cabin!

  • 5 of 5

I always base my reviews on my first reaction to a home. When I walked into this cabin I immediately wanted to go home and get my things and move in. The dreamy wood finished and the country flair and touches made us all forget the craziness of the world. We visited Virginia for a baby shower and the home provided us with plenty of room for the seven adults and two children that stayed. The beds were comfy, the bathrooms were plentiful and the master suite was to die for. After the shower we had a few family come back to the house for dinner and it was such a wonderful kitchen to cook in. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone! Thank you Heather for a fabulous stay!

Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful cottage for a family wedding in August 2017. The pictures dont do it justice. There were 3 generations of my family. There was bedrooms for everyone, more than enough bathrooms and beautiful living spaces that we all could enjoy. The wrap around porch allowed us to enjoy a morning coffee, with the resident cardinal. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. There was a charcoal BBQ that we made lunch on and some of the family members enjoyed the hot tub. Lots of parking. Close to grocery shopping and to Lynchburg. The owner Heather, was prompt with responding to emails and a pleasure to work with. My family would love to spend Christmas here one year. Would definitely rent this cottage again.

The house was great, very spacious, clean, equipped with all the essentials needed. A welcome surprise was the size of the property and the little lake. I literally have nothing to complain about!
