Christy has a long family history on Hatteras Island and grew up here. We live in Frisco, adjacent to the cottage, with our three daughters and love life here on Hatteras Island. Doug is a law enforcement officer and he and Christy operate a small shop (Changing Tide), also in Frisco, along with their 3 daughters. When time allows we enjoy time spent at the beach or on our family boat. We also enjoy hunting, fishing, backpacking, and lots of other outdoor activities.
Christy Oberbeck purchased this house in 2012
We enjoy visits from family and friends, but have a pretty full house with three children. Creekside was purchased in April of 2012 primarily so that friends and family could visit us and enjoy island life with us for awhile. The cottage is adjacent to our personal property, and we think of Creekside as more of a guest house than a vacation rental. We hope you will feel as comfortable there as our friends and family do! While here, you may see us or our children taking care of the backyard chickens or garden, but we try to give you plenty of privacy. While you are here, the house is your sanctuary and we hope you feel at home.
Quiet neighborhood with lots of privacy, but still not far away from the beach or shopping. Great place to unwind after a day of sightseeing or fun in the sun.
This was perfect for us. We are a family of four with a 1 1/2 year old and a 4 year old. We actually put the baby in the master bedroom so that he could have a quiet room away from us, and we slept in the double bed in what I'd call the "kid" room while our 4 year old gladly took the top of the bunk bed in the same room. We really enjoyed both the screened in porch and the back porch, where we were able to see so many stars. You can't get a view like that in the city! The house was very clean and although no one chooses a cottage based on decor, I did notice and appreciate that while there were nice nautical touches, the placed didn't look like the inside of a Wings store blew up in there like some cottages do. Someone is very handy and there were some nice woodwork items. We had brought toys for our kids, but they were elated to find a stocked toy closet there. The outdoor shower after the beach was very helpful. We have already discussed returning to this cottage again!
Well kept inside and out. Tucked away, surrounded by trees, gives you plenty of privacy. We loved it, hope to get back!
quite enjoyed our stay of two weeks. this was our second time staying here and will continue as often as we come to the Outer Banks. Everything we want or need is either already there or located nearby. the only caveat was the season we chose to stay as the weather was a bit chilly the first week. it improved greatly the second week. bought my laptop and had the opportunity to watch Amazon.com Prime videos while there... AppleTV was a bit difficult due to the somewhat spotty satellite access which didn't seem to affect the Laptop as much. If you desire a quiet peaceful respite this is the place.
Rented this property for a long fishing weekend with my Dad and my son. We were all very well-pleased with the property. It is spacious, comfortable, and very clean. We found the kitchen to be well stocked with every appliance, utensil, and piece of cookware we needed. Dad appreciated the ramp to the front door. Well situated between Buxton and Hatteras Village.
Truly what we were looking for in a rental property for a family of 5. Clean and well stocked with just what you needed to make the stay comfortable. We had all the needed kitchen, bedding, family space for our visit. The property is set up perfect for kids/parents to get together. We used Creekside to venture south/north to a different 4wd beach each day. We used the development across NC12 to run each day, very safe and lots of nature. It was a really perfect location for us. Make sure you take the ferry to Ocracoke and try Buxton Seafood.
Was everything we wanted and more. It was so charming and a cute cottage. Very, very clean inside and out. The home was very well maintained and stocked with all the necessities. They thought of everything and it was a pleasure meeting the owners Doug and Christie as well! I cannot adequately express how happy I was with our stay at creek side!!
