My name is Panagiotis Vlaikos.
I am the owner of the property.I was born in Athens but i came here from little child every summer with my parents. This was the property of my grandparents and after so many years, the love for this place was so strong and i decided to built these villas and the studios and to be with this place for all my life.
Because here is the paradise. The green and the blue water of the sea with the amazing forest with the pines, the herbs and the piece give to you this whitch you look for your life.
That you do not hear nothing and you look the amazing view, living in a really traditional and cosy villa.
Villa Anthemis and Panagiotis and his family stole our hearts. This is a TRULY special place to stay. From the moment his smiling face picked us up in his Lithea van from the port and took us to the green and turquoise idyll of Agios Petros bay and his warm welcoming villas of honey coloured stone we knew we would not look back. We are a family from London, 2 adults and 2 lively boys of 11 and 14, whose vision of a small beach cove, with aqua sea, cypress trees, boats, rich sea life, a taverna or 2, shimmering views and an unspoilt Greece, was realised here.
The house was light and airy, spotless, lovingly looked after and nicely furnished. These are NOT functional concrete boxes - they are beautifully made, with different types of stone and high wooden timber ceilings, the kitchen (with all mod cons) and bathroom blending in with their natural materials. The seat of the house is the cushion laden stone bench on the panoramic terrace, where the soft sea breezes allow you to sit for hours and survey the green canopy of trees, the blue of the bay and the island of Peristera opposite. We were transfixed by sunrises and found ourselves up very early every day to enjoy these, before a 2 minute potter down through the olive grove and a track through the cypresses for a swim in the crystal clear bay with no one else there! Also, the bay is the best on the island for marine life so our boys were never out of the water and never bored (diving, snorkelling, paddle boarding, kayaking, boat trips also available!)
On a practical note, Steni Vala is a gorgeous 10 min walk around the bay where you enter a lively run of cafes, a dive school, great tavernas, a couple of mini markets and the yachting community dropping anchor and sharing the moorings with the local fisherman. You can get a bus to the main town Patitiri here so we enjoyed a car-free life, and got the odd taxi if we wanted to venture further out to other beaches. Thoughtful, lovely Panagiotis is there to guide, help and look after you and let you just get on with it as well.
If you want to go to beautiful, natural Greece, to stay somewhere with heart and soul and comforts, with access to village life and the sea then what are you waiting for! We are counting down the days until next summer
We have spent here 2 wonderful weeks (in the beginning of September) at villa Daphne! The villa is wonderful, equipped in traditional greek way and you'll have never enough of the view from terrace when you open the door of your bedroom in the morning.
The views are amazing and Panagiotis and Maria just great!!! Very nice, open, welcoming and ready to help at any moment!!! Alonissos is a great island with a lot of wonderful places and people and very very good food! If you want to relax and enjoy a quality holiday this is the best place!
We have just spent a fabulous week in Alonissos at Danifi villa. The building is of traditional Greek style and constructed to a very high standard. Inside it is very comfortable with everything you could need available. The kitchen is very well equipped should you wish to prepare your own meals but the restaurants of Steni Vala are less than half a mile away. These restaurants offer an excellent range of food which is of good quality at a reasonable cost. There are two small supermarkets in Steni Vala providing a reasonable range of food and wine but a larger selection is available in Patitiri and as the villa has a large fridge/freezer storage is not a problem.
Outside the villa there is a seating area to the side of the villa which with candles makes for a romantic setting for an evening meal beneath the stars and breakfast at the front of the villa offers a fabulous view over the bay to Peristeria.
Having been to Alonissos some years ago we chose Steni Vala area for its proximity to many of the way marked walking routes. The walking was superb and allowed us to discover some amazing scenery and beaches. The beaches at Aghios Dimitrios and Lefto Ghialos, both of which are white peeble beaches with clear blue water are definitely worth a visit.
One of our walks took us from the newly built reservoir down the now dry river bed to the sea. This was spectacular as it ran through a gorge and gave an interesting though challenging walk.
Another walk we completed from Meganero to Tourkoneri Beach took us through a forested area where you could see resin being harvested from the trees. There are many other way marked walks around the island for those wishing to explore on foot.
Panagiotis is a very caring host who was keen to ensure we had everything we required.
All in all a wonderful holiday and we hope to return in 2014.
My husband and I spent the second half of our honeymoon at Panagiotis's villa Anthemis. We couldn't have been happier with the house, which boasted a breathtaking view, proximity to the charming village of Steni Vala, a gorgeous terrace, and beautiful stonework and craftsmanship throughout the house (which was also very clean and well-kept). We were lucky to be there for eight sun-filled and relaxing days.
Panagiotis was a delightful, gracious host, who checked in on us to make sure we needed anything, provided lifts to Patitiri and the Old Village if he was heading that way, suggested things for us to see and do (in particular, the beaches at Ag. Dimitrios and Leftos Gialos, which were both wonderful and perfect for swimming), and was genuinely friendly and fun to talk to.
Alonissos is an all-round hospitable island, and the Anthemis villa is a really special place in the world: just secluded and quiet enough that you can't help but feeling 100% relaxed, but an easy walk to Steni Vala or a quick ride to the Old Village/Patitiri if you want to socialize a little. We hope we can come back again soon for another visit!
We visit Alonissos and stay at Agrimonia every summer for the last three years.
It is an amazing house, fully equiped with completely new appliances, relaxing beds, clean and with a great terrace with sunrise view. The rooms are comfortable, the kitchen is amazing and the bathroom very nice.
The house is situated around 100 meters from the beach. The beach, protected by the winds, is very friendly for young children, very clean and very quiet. You have the feeling that it is almost private (tip: ask the owner to help you rent a boat and explore Alonissos - great experience). There is a natural shadow due to the huge trees, that allow you to stay in the beach all day without the need for umbrella.
The property is owned by Panagiotis and his family, who live just next door, thus being able to assist you in any case. The quality of hospitality is close to a 5 star resort, and you will be impressed by the friendly and kind owners. Ask their advice if you want to choose a nice restaurant, another beach (useless though...) or go for sightseeing.
I would propose Alonissos for great relaxing family holidays and for yound people interested in nature, scuba, or fishing.
I would definitely recommend Agrimonia for residence and our family plan is to be there, again this summer.
We have just returned from the most idyllic holiday in Alonnisoss. The villa is in an amazing spot overlooking the beautiful orchard filled with lemon, orange and olive trees and just a few short steps to the bay of Aghios Petrus where each day we swam uninterrupted by others with only the little fish for company!
The owner of the villa is very friendly and made sure that we had everything we could want for our stay. The villa was spotlessly clean and very well maintained, great facilities for cooking and a blissfully powerful shower for removing any excess salt and sun cream at the end of the day!
Although the style is simple we could not fault Paniagiotis's construction of the villa, he is a talented stonemason and this is reflected throughout.
We travelled the island via moped which was cheap to hire and amazing fun, the views from some of the peaks are simply breathtaking. If you have a chance to look at one thing, travel along to Aghios Dimitrius for a very stunning beach, we were there with 10 other people, it was fabulous.
All of the island remains fairly untouched in terms of holidaymakers and this for us was exceptionally important, the only place that has a feel of tourism is Patitiri and this is to be expected as all the ferries and sea cats dock here.
Would we return, yes we would, overall it was a very relaxing and romantic place to be. We would also book Anthemis as our base, as our accomodation matched our general view of the island, which has to be said we could not fault in any way. I only hope that it remains true to its very nature of being and unspoilt, and a true glimpse of Greek life.
