About Alicia Maasburg
Visual Arts is my first love and I've been a professional artist for the past 15 years. I also teach art. Originally from Johannesburg and worked in the corporate world as a PR & Marketing Manager for many years. Decided two years ago to make Hermanus our home and absolutely love our new town and environment. Love nature and the outdoors, animals, reading and travelling.
Alicia Maasburg purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Alicia Maasburg chose Hermanus
My husband and I have been visiting Hermanus over the past 20 years and spent many happy holidays here with our two sons and some close friends. We always regarded Hermanus as our second home and when the time was right we decided to move here permanently. The property we chose is perfectly situated to enjoy the many splendours that is Hermanus. It is nestled between mountain and sea, in the sunny, leafy and upmarket suburb of Westcliff and within walking distance to many attractions that Hermanus offers.
What makes this Cottage unique
Pepper Berry Place and Pepper Berry Self Catering Cottage is only a stones throw away from the seafront and the spectacular 14km cliff path for unsurpassed whale watching when is season. The huge Brazilian Pepper Tree that greets you as you drive onto the property inspired the name for our self catering cottage. The property is in a quiet cul-de-sac away from the hustle and bustle, but well within walking distance to all amenities and enchantment that is Hermanus.

Love at first sight.
Pepper Berrie Place turned out to be the best place we ever stayed in as far as self catering- or B&B's are concerned.
Located in a very nice neighborhood in Hermanus, very quite but still close to shops and restaurants plus immediate access to the famous cliff path.
The cottage is tastefully furnished and decorated, well laid out, and has a kitchen fully equipped
with quality utensils and nice china. There bathroom is very practical with lovely walk in shower and the bedroom is roomy with a comfortable kingsize bed.
We spent two lovely weeks and came out fully recharged, with happy memories.
We will try to come back and can fully recommend Pepper Berrie Place to any one who likes to have a relaxing couple of days.

Dear Jan and Gretha
Thank you so very much for the lovely review and kind comments. It was an absolute pleasure hosting you both and getting to know you. I look forward to welcoming you both back in the not too distant future.

Pepper Berry Place
We take our time choosing our accommodation as it is important to us.......I am very picky! So hear me when I say that Pepper Berry Place was one of the nicest apartments we have ever stayed in. Tastefully decorated, extremely clean, had everything you could wish for plus a lovely letter welcoming us, flowers, fruit, you name it. On top of all that we had our own private garden. What more could one ask for. If you’re going to Hermanus you have to stay with Alicia. Most important I forgot to say she is fabulous! Enjoy!
Wow Jane! Thank you so very much for the amazing review. So happy you guys enjoyed your stay. It was an absolute pleasure hosting you and I do hope we can do so again in the not too distant future.
Take care of you.
We had the pleasure of staying at Pepperberry cottage for the month of February and loved it. It is very tastefully furnishing with lovely ornaments and paintings on the walls. Superb percale bed linen and large fluffy white towels. Kitchen is extremely well equipped. The area is suitable for nice cliff walks and about a 20 minute walk into the pretty town of Hermanus. Alicia was always to hand and nothing was too much trouble. We can’t wait to go back. Thank you.
Dear Johanna & Hugh

Lovely weekend in Hermanus
We enjoyed staying at Pepper Berrry place on our visit to Hermanus. Booking and checking in/out was super easy. The house is very close to the cliff walk, easy to get into town during the day. The place is very tasteful and luxurious feeling. We'd love to come back!
Hi Thom and Jim, Thank you so much for the lovely review. It was a pleasure hosting you and I do hope you'll visit us again, especially when the weather is a little better. Enjoy the rest of your stay in SA and a safe journey home.
A property of the highest quality
This property stands out as one of the best presented we have stayed at on our very many visits and locations in SA. Although it is attached to the owners accommodation the layout provides complete privacy. The kitchen is superbly equipped and there is a high quality Weber to use in the lovely courtyard style garden. Lounge, quality bedroom and bathroom complete a very impressive property. Only slight downside is a slightly iffy wifi. Highly recommend.
Hi Colin & Kay
It was an absolute pleasure hosting you both. Thank you for taking so much care of Pepper Berry Place and leaving it clean and tidy and for the lovely review. Much appreciated. So sorry about WiFi. If I'd known I could have recommended you try two other links we have on the property.
Enjoy the rest of your stay in South Africa and Len and I look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future.
Die FeWo war sehr ruhig, total geschmackvoll eingereichtet - ein Genuss !
Thank you so very much for the lovely review. It was a pleasure hosting you and I look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future.
Often referred to as the 'Riviera of the South' in bygone days, Hermanus remains the ultimate holiday destination and maintains its status of modern fusion of new and old. Apart from being legendary for the world's best land-based whale watching and the 14km spectacular cliff path just 100m away from Pepper Berry Cottage, Hermanus offers a myriad of activities all year round. Enjoy sun filled days on the pristine 'blue flag' beaches, visit the beautiful Fern Kloof Nature Reserve, play a round of golf on a 27-hole premier golf course or laze away the day on a hop-on-hop off or self drive wine tour through the magnificent Hemel-en-Aarde Valley vineyards.
For the more adventurous - hiking trails, mountain biking, horse riding, paragliding, wind surfing, quad biking, great white shark cage diving in nearby Gansbaai, fishing, bird watching, kayaking plus much more is on offer.
Alternatively spend some time meandering through the villiage with its funky cafe's, coffee shops and restaurants, the many quirky and unique shops and crafts/markets that cater for and will delight even the most discerning shopper.
The beauty and magic of Hermanus has also attracted many well-known artists and the town has some of the best art available to view or purchase from its many amazing galleries. In addition, the villiage features several Festivals and Events throughout the year. Some of these include the Whale Festival, FynArts Festival, Houston Sea Festival, Kalfie Fees and the Food & Wine Festival. Many major sporting events also take place throughout the year. What more can you ask for.
