About Jim and/or Lynne Manner

We currently live in the front house of the property and have been in our home since 1982. We found this lovely property on the way to a Charger game and couldn't resist the custom Spanish style of this 1920's era two on one. We started out renting and we were fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase the property. We were even more fortunate to be married in the back yard; all six kids and one happy St. Bernard. We both grew up elsewhere in California, but we met in San Diego and have lived in our home for 30+ years and can not imagine leaving. The back house (casita) was a rental when we bought and was kept as a rental for most of our time here. Recently, we remodeled and upgraded the cottage into the casita.

Jim and/or Lynne Manner purchased this studio in 1983

Why Jim and/or Lynne Manner chose San Diego County

We bought here because our work was nearby and schools for our children were close. We are now retired and our children have left the roost. Our home is situated right in the middle of everything that is inviting in San Diego. Neighborhood restaurants and coffee houses are within four blocks. We are very close to high-end shopping malls, the Gaslamp District downtown, Balboa Park, the Zoo, beaches, ball parks, and just 1+ hour from the beautiful and very quaint historic mountain town of Julian.

What makes this studio unique

The casita is located in a quiet neighborhood that is walking friendly and very close to freeway access in all directions as well as public transportation.

Popular Points of Interest (POI) and their distances from the Casita can be viewed on our map.

Pleasant stay in an impeccable casita!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, adult daughter and I stayed here over the days of San Diego Comic Con. We really enjoyed our stay. The property was as advertised and included some special touches: a bottle of wine, some soft drinks and water, and cookies! We also really appreciated the parking situation--right up next to the door--so many times we end up with one of those impossible-to-maneuver Southern Cali-restricted space situations with poles in the way! The property also has "real" modern and sturdy windows, and air conditioning. We definitely would stay here again!

Best VRBO property we have rented yet!

  • 5 of 5

This is lovely property, with very gracious hosts. This is by far the nicest VRBO property we have stayed in, and a great value, and we have stayed in many VRBO properties! As other reviews say, the online description and photos don't do it justice, it's even nicer in person! Great job Lynne and Jim. Should we ever return to San Diego we will definitely want to stay in the casita!

Great Experience at the Casita Studio

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Casita! It was clean and set up very nicely, so we had plenty of space. We enjoyed that we were relatively close to all of the places and attractions we wanted to visit while in San Diego, plus we were in walking distance to some wonderful restaurants. The neighborhood was nice and we more than appreciated the parking spot in such a crowded part of town. We have nothing but great things to say about our stay. Take Jim and Lynne up on some of their restaurant recommendations in the area...they were spot on. Thank you Jim and Lynne for a wonderful stay!

Casita is charming!

  • 5 of 5

This casita (little home) is not small in comfort, style, and efficiency! Plus its location near to the freeways makes this place a great deal. It is a nice retreat after a long day of sightseeing. We loved it and would recommend it highly.

Clean, large, great bed, quiet, walk to restaurants

  • 5 of 5

Living room was extremely comfortable with large flat screen and relaxing seating. Bed had good mattress, pillows and linens. Kichen was amazingly stocked for cooking large or small meals. Thanks for the spices, cookies and coffee! Garden is lovely and shared a nice conversation with owners. We were unsure of the availability of mass transit, which we normally use in San Diego, so rented a car to access this home. In fact, a bus line runs through University Height, a business neighborhood just a few blocks away. Neighborhood feels safe, with well maintained homes and gardens.

Best Place to stay in San Diego and location to everything.

  • 5 of 5

This is my second time at the Casita and each time was very enjoyable. Besides the R & R, I got a lot of the projects done that I couldn't get done well at the office or home. Thank you Jim and Lynn, you place is the best and you guys haven't missed a trick of all that you provide it's like home away from home with all of the comforts of home.

Thank you again for your hospitality.

Herman
