Cozy Coastal Cottage

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

This newly remodeled cottage (2012) called the 'Surf Breaker' will provide you with a sunny deck, ocean view or cool shade from the redwood trees. Listen to the waves crash and the seals bark as you are sitting in the hot tub, playing horseshoes, or relaxing in the hammock. On the cool coastal nights you can enjoy the indoor fireplace. The house has two full baths, king size bed and a cozy reading room with two twin beds. For those 'gourmet chefs' there is a brand new gas range and a fully stocked kitchen. It is a 5 minute walk (3/4 of a mile) to a private beach (free access.) The cottage and the beach are both near the Anchor Bay Village. A short drive to the Point Arena Stornetta California Coastal National Monument.

Great and peaceful place to discover Anchor Bay and its surroundings.

  • 4 of 5

We spent three days at Sally's cottage. We really enjoyed being surrounded by the forest while still being close to the beautiful Fish Rock beach (thanks to the beach day-pass available in the cottage). The outside deck is a must with a beautiful view from the trees. You can even see the ocean in the distance. The house itself is comfortable and well-equipped. It would benefit from having a sofa in addition to the two comfortable armchairs (the house can accommodate 4 people but only two can sit in the living room because of that). In the bathroom, there was nothing for us to put our clothes on when we showered. The Internet connection was spotty but we really enjoyed being disconnected during the weekend. The description says it's a 5 min walk to the beach but the road is very steep and dangerous to walk. We would advise driving instead especially if going with children (5 min drive so I guess rather a 20 min walk). Other than that, a great stay and a fantastic location. We will be back! Thanks Sally!

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking care of the place. FYI we are getting a new couch for the place. The old one was falling apart.

What a beautiful spot tucked away in the woods. Thank you Sally!

It was such a great location, access to the anchor bay beach where we watched the sunset, read in the hammock, enjoyed the hot tub, cooked, read and took in beautiful hikes. It was the perfect spot for exploring this stretch of the coast! Sally and Kevin had a sweet card waiting for us.

We very much enjoyed this cheery little house. My husband and I needed to get away just to rest and relax! Nicely appointed and everything we needed!

Perfect for our family of 3

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 3 loved staying at the Surf Breaker. The cottage is cozy, clean, and had everything we needed for three nights. Kitchen was great, beds comfy, deck has a view of the ocean, and the hot tub fit two people at a time. We could sleep with the windows open and hear the sea animals barking at night. We sat on the deck and listened to the birds calling. I stargazed on a clear night. We even enjoyed the calming rain as we packed up on our last day. The owner was responsive and everything was set up perfectly. For fun, we hit some of the area beaches, hung out in Gualala, and drove to the beautiful area around the Point Arena Lighthouse. We prefer to rent cottages/cabins on our vacations, and the Surf Breaker was one of our favorite places we've stayed. Thank you!
