The Cottage has a modern fully furnished kitchen, dining area living room, laundry room and a den, central air conditioning, patio with a grill and table and chairs to eat outside. One bedroom has a king bed and the other has a king that switches to two twin beds.
There is no need to bring a car as you can walk to town and the grocery store. There is also an outside shower to use after you have been to the beach. Beach chairs and towels are also provided.
The main house to this property dates back to 1690 and is the second oldest house in Nantucket.
We are originally from Delaware and Maryland and are retired builders/developers. In 1992, we bought a farm in Pennsylvania and turned it into a small Inn. We retired again and now split our time between Charleston, SC and Nantucket.
Quite often we invite our tenants over to our patio or wine cellar for wine and cheese and give them a tour of the 1690 Main House.
We have 4 boys who live in Charleston, SC and Delaware.
Owner/manager purchased this cottage in 2004
We came to Nantucket the summer of 2004. Fell in love with the island and bought this house by October, 2004
Our engineer told us it was about to fall down, but we love a challenge as we were in the building business.
We renovated the cottage and lived there during the three year renovation of the main house.
Being in town Nantucket you can walk to restaurants, rent bikes, go shopping and go to the beach without having to rent a car.
Our stay in this wonderful little cottage was outstanding! It is beautifully decorated with high end furnishings, appliances and wonderfully comfortable beds. Extremely well located at the top of Main Street and very quiet. The owners are absolutely wonderful, interesting people, who were ready to assist us in any way and invited us to see their lovely historical home adjacent to this rental which was delightful.
This cottage is a hidden gem with everything in pristine condition. We also enjoyed the study downstairs with a half bath for reading a book or watching TV as well as the outdoor patio.
Our stay saw the crowds empty out just after Labor Day but the weather is still gorgeous enough for the beaches. A few favorites include drinks at Cru, dinner at Straight Wharf and also The Galley (located on Jetties Beach with spectacular sunsets) as well as Chanticleer in Sconset which resembles an old inn with a fabulous garden. We highly recommend a stay at this property and hope to return again next summer.
My family and I had the best vacation this summer. We have been renting on Nantucket for the past 5 years and this cottage is by far the nicest place we've stayed. The cottage is tastefully decorated and the location can't be beat. To top off our great experience, owners Ed and Wanda were so friendly and accommodating! Our children also enjoyed the freedom that the location provided. We look forward to renting the same week next summer, as well as, renting the cottage for this coming Christmas Stroll!
My family had a truly fantastic time staying at the cottage! Ed and Wanda were the most perfect hosts - we just adore them!!! They offered to drive us to the market and the beach and they were just so accommodating with my children! Wanda baked treats for our little ones and then she placed them on the counter with a sweet note - such a kind gesture! The cottage was extremely immaculate and so well maintained. It is still in new condition and should be treated in such a manner. We are visiting next year!
My family and I had the best time at 105 Main! The location is perfect being right in town. We walked everywhere, and didn't need to deal with the tight parking issue. It is beautifully decorated (amazing bathrooms) and has everything you could want for the beach, kitchen, grilling, laundry etc. Wanda and Ed were wonderful landlords; friendly and inviting and willing to help with anything. Even running over with an umbrella on our way out for dinner one rainy night! The house would be great for any age group. We have two teenagers and they loved the freedom to go and do what they wanted, without having to wait for one of us to drive them. It made my vacation a whole lot nicer too.
We are at the corner of Main and Gardner Street in Nantucket town.
The cottage will be closed from Oct. 1, 2016 and will reopen June, 2017
