Large and Inviting Dover Bay Resort House

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

A short walk and you find yourself sitting lakeside at our local restaurant DISH at Dover Bay Resort, or having a picnic on the grass at Dover City Park, perhaps fishing off the dock at the marina is more your speed. This beautiful 3 bedroom, 3 full bath house is perfect any month of the year. Located walking distance from the marina it is close enough to enjoy the activities and far enough for quite naps on the porch.

The large open floor plan of the house invites lots of visiting and the kitchen is large enough for two cooks to work. Top of the line appliances, granite counters, wood flooring, and custom drapery all add to the beauty and comfort of our wonderful home.

The first floor holds a gourmet kitchen complete with Viking appliances, granite counter tops and a pantry stocked with extras such as basic spices, paper towels and dish soap.

The family room and dining area flow onto the wrap around porch allowing large groups to visit freely. The dining table seats 8 easily and additional bistro seating can be found on various sides of the porch. Additional cedar Adirondack chairs (made locally) with pillows and blankets create a relaxing atmosphere for all allowing for morning coffee, afternoon naps, or just relaxing while viewing the sunset. During the fall and winter we have a large number of cozy blankets to wrap up in while watching the snow fall.

The outdoor gas fireplace is wonderful on chilly summer nights and heavenly in the winter. We have a large gas grill and lots jockeying to be grill master as the back porch is such a peaceful setting in late afternoon.

We have two bedrooms downstairs. The first floor Master Bedroom holds a king bed, oversize antique couch, reading chair, Blu-ray player and tv, and writing desk with high speed internet and printer. This large master bedroom opens onto the porch and has a beautiful slate master bath complete with double shower.

The second bedroom downstairs has a queen bed, walk in closet, reading chair and full bathroom located just outside in the hall, also boasting slate floors and counters.

Upstairs holds the third bedroom. The short hall at the top of the stairs opens into the large bedroom that runs the width of the house. Two queen beds, a double futon, amoire with television and Blue-ray player, two dressers and book shelves, and space for blow up mattresses, make this ideal for teens and children, or an additional suite for couples. There is another full size bathroom with a tub/shower upstairs completed in slate as well.

With the lake just down the street we have kayaks and basic bait casting poles for fishing off the docks or one of the inlets nearby. The avid fisherman will want to bring their own as the area is a fishing paradise. Bring your bike or rent one in town to enjoy the numerous paved paths in the area. We have a bike trailer perfect for toddlers or to load fresh produce from the Sandpoint Farmers Market. The area is also known for fantastic mountain biking.

We offer a lending library with books and movies for all ages. We have a waterproof picnic blanket, beach chairs, plastic containers and coolers for days by the lake. The area draws you outside to enjoy everything Sandpoint has to offer - bike trails, hiking trails, swimming, boating, all types of skiing, or just sitting and looking at the beautiful nature that surrounds us.

Our house was and still is our home. In keeping with the beauty of the area as well as our own ideas you will find organic cotton sheets, wool blankets, eco-friendly cleaning products as well as laundry detergent for your use. You will find many extras too numerous to list to make your visit a memorable one.

About Aileen York

We currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada. Being surrounded by the desert landscape has its beauty, though nothing can compare to what we felt when we first started across the long bridge.

Aileen York purchased this house in 2006

Why Aileen York chose Dover Bay

Our house was one of the first six built in Dover Bay. We originally purchased it as a vacation home so our children would be able to experience life outside a big city. After spending summers, a few long weekends and the occasional week vacation each year, we realized we loved it so much we wanted to experience the area full time. We spent two years living here while our children went to school in Sandpoint. The experience was more than we hoped and we look forward to sharing a bit of it with you.

What makes this house unique

There are very few places where you can enjoy year round activities! Summer on the lake. Fall hikes enjoying the beautiful colors. Winter on Schweitzer Mountain or sledding on Syringa. Spring if you're lucky spring skiing, otherwise wild life watching and hiking draw you in.

great family getaway

  • 5 of 5

Great home with a great layout for families with kids. A huge upstairs loft with two beds and a futon with TV for kid movie time after a long day at the lake or mountain. Enjoyed that each bedroom had their own bathroom.

Luxury family getaway

  • 5 of 5

The first words out of our mouths as we entered this well appointed cabin tucked in the trees just walking distance from the lake, was "Wow!" Your spacious and comfortable rooms, amazing master shower, wrap around porch with grill, and guest amenities were more than we dreamed of! We loved the location so close to town and the lake- yet secluded and quiet. The kids also had fun showing their grandparents all the biking/ walking trails in the area. Your kitchen was fabulously stocked for us to cook meals in and relaxing on the deck in the evening was a favorite for us all. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful home with us! We will surely tell all our friends about it and return!

The Sandpoint area is filled with activities for every interest! Fall brings beauty in the way of color through the mountains, and The Farmers Market runs May through October Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings, The Draft Horse and Mule Show, The Eureka Center and Evans Brothers Coffee hosts an Oktoberfest, SARS Ski Swap are all fun family events. December is magical in Sanpoint and my two favorite events are the Waldorf Christmas Fair, normally held the first weekend in December, and the Christmas Home Tour benefiting the Healing Garden at Bonner General Hospital. January hosts the Banff Film Festival, which sells out every year, and February finds the Sandpoint Winter Carnival and Taste of Sandpoint which take you up to Schweitzer and back down to Sandpoint to cover all the fun. Summer brings even more events and some such as The Dog Days at Dover Bay and the Wooden Boat Festival right down the street. August is a jammed pack month with people flooding to Sandpoint for the Festival at Sandpoint, Artists Studio Tour, Bonner County Fair, and Long Bridge Swim to name a few.
