A most enjoyable time in a house located in a wonderful neighborhood with easy beach access.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a month and had a very pleasant experience. Dianne, the caretaker, who lived next door, was most helpful and was there if we needed her but she also ensured our privacy during the entire time of our stay. She was a wonderful asset and most knowledgeable about restaurants and the area in general. The house is older and due to the recent news articles about Lanikai Beach being one of the top beaches in the world, there was a fair amount of traffic. The house was certainly large enough to accommodate our family of four but one very important suggestion is to install curtains on the front windows for both privacy and to help deaden the sound from the traffic. There was also an ample supply of towels, cooking utensils and a large refrigerator. There were also beach toys including beach chairs, boogie boards and toys for the sand, as used by our grandchildren. The beach was a short five minute walk away. As for places to eat, Boots and Kimos for breakfast....bring cash as they do not accept credit cards, travelers checks, or personal checks.....; for dinner, Haleiwa Joes in Kaneohe has the largest and best tasting prime rib you will ever eat along with fantastic scenery; and for lunch, Teddys Bigger Burgers in downtown Kailua. Would we stay there again? Absolutely!

Myself and two friends all from Australia had a wonderful stay in the house, we found the place clean and comfortable, a BBQ and great washing facilities, with everything we needed, one street back from beautiful Lanikai beach and about a three minute walk, so spent a lot of time on the beach swimming. It is a lovely quite spot away from the madness of Waikiki. The bus stopped right outside the house which was very convenient. The caretakers Di & Bill were very helpful with information about the area and it was a bonus having them there on site.

A memorable family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 had a wonderful stay at this quaint, Kailua home and we can’t wait to return. We have 3 small children, ages 6 months, 3 and 5 and the home was perfect for our needs. The kitchen had everything we needed. The washer and dryer were a plus w kids and there was a great little patio w a grill for BBQ’s. You can’t beat the location of this home. You are one block from the world famous Lanikai beach. We bought a beach wagon for all of our stuff and it made multiple day trips to the beach a breeze. With 3 small children, we could easily go back and forth for naps and lunch breaks. Not having to get into a car to go to the beach was great! The home is also on the The Bus route and 3 blocks from the playground. If you’ve never stayed in Kailua, I recommend it. It has great beaches, shops and restaurants and only 20 minutes from Honolulu. The owners are very easy to work with and the fabulous caretakers live in an unattached cottage on the property. They were they if we needed anything but we never saw them otherwise. All and all, my family had a wonderful stay here. We always felt safe in the home and we can’t wait to go back. Thank you Elise and Jack for making our family vacation one we will never forget!

Owner's Response: We are so very happy your family had a wonderful stay in our home, and that your children enjoyed the play area and beach. Our "caretakers " are actually good friends of ours visiting us from Australia who are gracious enough to be doing some repairs on the back art studio and temporarily helping us out while we are off island, I agree they are fabulous, glad they were helpful to you. We hope you and your family return again soon! Aloha Elise and Kimo

Charming Lanikai Home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I arrived in the afternoon and were greeted by the wonderful care takers Diane (Di) and Bill and from that moment on enjoyed every minute of our month long stay! The home is extremely clean and well kept for an older Kailua home. It is a wonderful location and only a short walk to the beach where we spent many mornings watching the sunrise, and days and evenings enjoying the beach with the towels, chairs, kayak and beach toys provided. There are also many beautiful hikes with gorgeous view close to the home. You will need a car if you want to go out to eat, but there is a nice yard with a BBQ if you prefer to relax at home! Di and Bill are very helpful if you have any questions or concerns but also respect your privacy. There is a wonderful avocado and mango tree in the yard and the avocado's were in full bloom which we enjoyed every day!

I feel this home is a great place for families and couples looking to stay in a beautiful, quiet community.
