There is a third floor Widows Walk were you can enjoy sunrises over the Caribbean Sea, sunsets over Placencia Lagoon and the Mayan Mountains. You can also have a relaxing private massage up there.
The beautifully landscaped grounds were given an award by the World Wildlife Organization for incorporating the tropical mangroves into the lush landscaping.
My husband and I have owned a home in Placencia for 13 years. We loved visiting the Florida Keys until it became so crowded with people and boats. The Peninsula and Placencia remind us of what the Keys and Key West must have been like 75 or 100 years ago.
Where else in the world can you dive or fish on the second longest Barrier Reef in the world in the morning and cave or hike through pristine jungle mountains and go to waterfalls in the afternoon.
We love it here because no other country in Central America offers so much for so little effort in such a tiny land mass. Add to this the environmentally caring infrastructure and English speaking, friendly, laid-back people and you soon realize that Belize really does have it all.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2007
The fishing is some of the best in the world and the wildlife viewing is spectacular. It is an adventure lovers paradise.
Private yet a five minute walk into the village for great restaurants, bars, and shopping, and local guides will pick you up onsite for tours.
Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed this vacation and stay at Sunset Point. The owners were helpful setting up the reservation and then corresponding via email as we planned our vacation. The condo was clean and comfortable, just right for a family of four. The kitchen was perfect for saving money and eating in. The washer and dryer was appreciated, so we could pack lightly. The pool was refreshing when we woke up each morning and in the evening after returning from the days events. The short walk or ride into town was done many times to frequent the outstanding restaurants and daily Tutti Frutti gelato stops. We took advantage of booking a few water trips with Alfred, our guide. He was very knowledgable and went out of his way to make the trips a true adventure our family will always remember. Some highlights included catching lobster, eating mangos and coconuts fresh off the tree, swimming with sharks and sea turtles, snorkeling, visiting Monkey River with the Howler Monkeys, fishing, and simply watching sunsets.
Excellent location and property. Kitchen well stocked, air conditioning and fans worked great, and we needed it at the beginning of the rainy season. The lightning and rainstorms were awesome and short lived. We drove the short road to town to avoid the heat. The restaurant choices, adventure choices, and local vibe are all amazing. Great value, great location! The wifi is spotty and slow, but we expect that outside the U.S. Try Mojos and Rumfish for dinner, and don't miss the renowned Tutti Frutti gelato!
We stayed at Sunset Pointe Unit#2 from March 4th through the 13th. It was a great location for our Honeymoon. It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxing by the beach or pool. The condo was great and has everything you could possibly need. We did a number of day trips with both Alfred and Francisco. They were both fantastic guides, knowledgeable and made our stay even more memorable! Janis and Eric were great as well! Thank you for all of your flexibility and recommendations. There is so much to see and do in Placencia and the surrounding areas that we hope to go back soon! I would recommend getting a golf cart for at least a day or 2 so you can venture out a little further. Otherwise grocery stores, beaches and restaurants are within walking distance.
I also have to mention how wonderful all the people we met were. Whether vacationing or locals everyone was kind and helpful if you had a question.
We stayed in unit two of Sunset Point from 10/27-11/10/2015. Most places you stay there is some place you see that you say "wish we had stayed there". Not in this case. The unit was well furnished, very well decorated in local furniture and fixtures. Kitchen area was well done and easy to cook and serve meals. The views from the front porch were perfect to watch the boat traffic up and down the canal. The East pier on gulf side was perfect for afternoon reading and watching the boats come and go including a monster banana boat that loaded up on a regular basis off shore. Couple of must does. Go on a fishing/snorkeling trip with Alfred and visit Monkey River (be sure and bring some light colored long sleeve shirt and pants for the MR adventure). With Alfred we caught enough fish for three meals including company one night. Also, Alfred caught enough lobster for supper while snorkeling. We then went to Hatchett Caye for a fantastic lunch. We found the restaurants would run out of the daily specials unless you arrived early both lunch and dinner. Especially liked Rum Fish and De Thatch on the beach. Reasonable prices and take credit cards. No trip to town was complete without a stop at the Tuti Frutti Ice Cream Parlor. Don't miss it. The vegetable stand across the street from Rum Fish was excellent for pine apples and veggies. Grocery stores are pretty basic but found everything we needed. Watch prices on liquor. Wife ended up buying a $50 bottle of gin w/o realizing it until we got back to condo. Everywhere we went people were friendly and accommodating. Eric and Janis, thank you for all your helpful hints on what to bring and where to eat. Only downer was caught no fish off the piers and no one else did while we were there. October 21- November 10, 2015
This was our first time in Belize, and it's definitely our new favorite. We stayed in the apartment condo, which was wonderfully furnished and very peaceful. Francisco and his family were lovely and very helpful in getting us connected to Alfred, tours and taxis. Janis answered all our questions promptly and gave us a list of fantastic restaurants. Our faves: Mojo Lounge (crazy good food, cool vibe), Maya Beach Resort (fantastic menu and location), Tipsy Tuna and Comfort Corner for bar food and fun, Tutti Frutti (try the dark chocolate gelato!), Rum Fish (great food). We were able to make just about anything in our well-stocked kitchen. Alfred took us snorkeling at 3 different reefs about an hour out, then fishing and a nice lunch on Hatchet Caye. His son took us to the Mayan ruins and went out of his way to drive through the mountains to find a cacao bean farm and then lunch at a little hideaway place...Coleman's. The owner couldn't have been any nicer. Definitely a relaxing vacation if you want no worries. We felt well taken care of.
My wife and I, along with my high school senior son, stayed here for a week of spring break. Owner Janis was excellent in answering all our questions and everything was exactly as advertised in her comments as well as other reviews. We been to a lot of resort designations but found Sunset Pointe and the village of Placencia refreshingly unique. A place where tourist, locals and ex-pats mix seemingly seamlessly. All the people we met were extremely pleasant and helpful. At Sunset Pointe, our unit was wonderful and had all the comforts of home including a TV which seemed to have a zillion stations so I could keep up with NCAA March Madness. Caretaker Franciso and his family were great and very helpful as well as recommended fishing and tour guide Alfred (note Alfred also has a nephew Alex who is steeped in the wildlife of the land so we would recommend him for a tour of area for nature sites). Restaurants were all awesome and we went to the Tipsy Tunda (great beach bar), Pickled Parrot where owner Eugene is a great host and the food and drinks are great (plus, if you are on a budget, hard to spend money there), Maya Beach Bistro (special treat where co-owner Ellen took special interest in navigating the menu for my seafood-allergic son plus make sure to try the chocolate spice cake if on the menu), Rumfish y Vino (great place with excellent menu items but note wine is about the only thing not cheap in Placencia), Wendy's is a must for breakfast and, last but not least, save dessert for Tutti Frutti's (went there several times). Also note groceries are reasonable in Placencia (but make sure to get veggies and fruit at stands around center part of town) and we cooked two meals in our condo which has every thing you need to prepare gourmet meals (including fresh fish that guide Alfred will filet for you right on Sunset Pointe's dock). We were sad to leave and will be back. Janis - thanks for all your prep, which made the trip so nice. Chris
