My husband and I have owned a home in Placencia for 13 years. We loved visiting the Florida Keys until it became so crowded with people and boats. The Peninsula and Placencia remind us of what the Keys and Key West must have been like 75 or 100 years ago.
Where else in the world can you dive or fish on the second longest Barrier Reef in the world in the morning and cave or hike through pristine jungle mountains and go to waterfalls in the afternoon.
We love it here because no other country in Central America offers so much for so little effort in such a tiny land mass. Add to this the environmentally caring infrastructure and English speaking, friendly, laid-back people and you soon realize that Belize really does have it all.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2007
The fishing is some of the best in the world and the wildlife viewing is spectacular. It is an adventure lovers paradise.
Private yet a five minute walk into the village for great restaurants, bars, and shopping, and local guides will pick you up onsite for tours.
My wife and I picked this place from the property description, everything was exactly as described. We couldn't have picked a more relaxing location just a bit out of town. It was nice to be able to walk or ride a bike into town, no car was necessary; we got plenty of exercise. The condo was clean and stocked with all the essentials. TV reception was great along with excellent internet connection which we used to communicate with the USA. The caretakers, Francisco, Rosa and their children were wonderful people. My wife became very fond of the daughter, she was such a sweetheart and visited us every day. We stayed in unit #2 for 28 days and loved every day. Half way through our month the owners Janis and Eric arrived. They were wonderful hosts, they went out of their way to show us a great time.
During our stay we Kayaked several days during the week, the kayaks were included with the condo which was a great asset. We did a day sailing trip on a catamaran captain Jeff which took us to some great snorkeling places. We did some excellent fishing with the most wonderful guide Alfred. Alfred knows his fishing and is a wonderful person to get to know. He gave us a great rundown on how he grew up in the area, it was a real learning experience for my wife and I. Alfred also took us a wonderful tour of the Monkey river where we viewed the wildlife and hiked through the jungle where we saw the Howler monkeys.
We ate very well from the great restaurants and our well stocked freezer full of fresh fish which we caught fishing with Alfred. One of my favorite morning places was the above grounds coffee house, it was a great place to mingle with the locals and enjoy the great coffee they served. It was wonderful meeting Janis, Eric, Francisco, Rosa and the kids, they made our stay memorable. My wife is already talking about when we go back to Placencia at Sunset Point. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a very relaxing vacation spot.
What a great place to stay! Sunset Pointe is the best location in Placencia! The unit was perfectly decorated, comfortable and the amenities were great! We used the pool, hot tub, kayaks, piers and bicycles during our stay. We loved how quiet Sunset Pointe is and how easily we could ride our bikes to nearby bars, restaurants and shopping in the village. Janis told us we would like it and it definitely exceeded our expectations! We will be back soon!
This was a great choice to stay, very nice place and just far enough away from the village to not be to loud. Very short walk to town (not that I am saying it is out of town) about a10 min walk to be in the center of all the action. The location couldn't be better. I will go back again if staying in the the village.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunset Pointe. First of all, the condo in person lived up to the impressive photos and description listed online. We found it to be very clean (especially the spotless polished floors), very well stocked with all the essentials plus extras needed to make our stay very comfortable, and beautifully decorated with artwork and artifacts that added a nice finishing touch to a cozy Caribbean getaway. Also the owner was very receptive from the start of the process, promptly responding to all of our many questions, providing us with information about excursions, restaurants, and other helpful travel tips. It is also clear that the owners take a lot of pride in their investment as the overall Sunset Pointe complex is very well maintained. Also, the location was perfect for us-- close enough to enjoy the local activity of Placencia yet tucked away to enjoy peace and quiet when we wanted to chill. We used the bikes that come with the condo everyday for short rides to the beach, restaurants, shopping and just to explore around town. We always felt safe even when biking back after dark. We also went on some excursions with Alfred, who is amazing. I definitely recommend connecting with him as he is extremely knowledgeable about a lot of things and will make your excursions a memorable experience. Also, Francisco, the property manager, was fabulous. He was always available to answer questions for us, offer assistance when needed and even took us on an excursion. In closing, Sunset Pointe is an excellent choice and I enthusiastically recommend it to anyone traveling to Placencia.
Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed this vacation and stay at Sunset Point. The owners were helpful setting up the reservation and then corresponding via email as we planned our vacation. The condo was clean and comfortable, just right for a family of four. The kitchen was perfect for saving money and eating in. The washer and dryer was appreciated, so we could pack lightly. The pool was refreshing when we woke up each morning and in the evening after returning from the days events. The short walk or ride into town was done many times to frequent the outstanding restaurants and daily Tutti Frutti gelato stops. We took advantage of booking a few water trips with Alfred, our guide. He was very knowledgable and went out of his way to make the trips a true adventure our family will always remember. Some highlights included catching lobster, eating mangos and coconuts fresh off the tree, swimming with sharks and sea turtles, snorkeling, visiting Monkey River with the Howler Monkeys, fishing, and simply watching sunsets.
Excellent location and property. Kitchen well stocked, air conditioning and fans worked great, and we needed it at the beginning of the rainy season. The lightning and rainstorms were awesome and short lived. We drove the short road to town to avoid the heat. The restaurant choices, adventure choices, and local vibe are all amazing. Great value, great location! The wifi is spotty and slow, but we expect that outside the U.S. Try Mojos and Rumfish for dinner, and don't miss the renowned Tutti Frutti gelato!
Ziplining, cave tubing, spearfishing, secluded island hoping, jungle exploration, Mayan ruins, waterfall tours
