About the property

4-bedroom, 2-bath family cottage

Retreat to this lovely cottage and grounds we call 'The Cottage at Taughannock,' ideal for a relaxed family vacation or small group retreat.

Only eight miles from Ithaca and sharing a 2000 ft border with Taughannock State Park, The Cottage at Taughannock offers both indoor and outdoor spaces for you to enjoy.

Prepare meals in the comfortable kitchen and dine in the “garden room”--or grill and dine on the adjacent patio. Bicycle 4/10 of a mile to the beach at Taughannock State Park for a refreshing dip in Cayuga Lake, or to enjoy the many excellent hiking trails. In the evening, sing around the fire pit or gather in the cozy living room to play board games or watch a movie next to the fireplace.

The cottage sleeps 7 people. The master bedroom, the yellow room and the upstairs larger room each contain queen beds. Upstairs, also, is a smaller room with a twin-sized bed. For a small additional fee, we can accommodate up to the maximum of three more people (10 total), using a queen and a twin-sized air beds placed in the living room or one of the bedrooms. Linens and towels are provided.

The cottage is pleasantly furnished with period pieces and textiles. The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans & utensils for meal prep, as well as a dishwasher and a commercial-sized stove.

Why Ann and Chad Hoover chose Trumansburg

We knew the moment we walked on the property that our four-year search was over....we found the perfect place. It has been such fun making it our own.

What makes this cottage unique

Our cottage is uniquely located close to the park, but not far from Ithaca and Trumansburg. Even in March and April, early spring ephemerals surround the area. The rhododendron garden is lovely in May and early June. Flowers continue to brighten the patio throughout the summer and into the fall, when the autumn leaves take over the show. In winter the Norway spruce laden with snow is breathtaking and sledding, cross country skiing and skating are all close at hand.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"To Our Hosts-

Thank you for providing us with a magical home this last week, the great kitchen, sun-filled dining room, sweet bedrooms, the patio-- all of us, native Ithacans back in our home town, appreciated our respite here. We'll be back again & hope to stay here.

Best Wishes,

D, M, J, K"

Wonderful Place to stay! Would definitely return

  • 5 of 5

I cannot express enough how perfect this cottage was! Clean, comfortable (great beds). We were in Ithaca for my son's graduation weekend, joined by other family members. Ann and Chad met us there the first day and explained/answered any questions we had.

The grounds are beautiful and there was plenty of room for all 8 of us. My young grandchildren loved the upstairs small room. We hardly knew they were there as they were up in Their Room, when we were at the house. Easy ride to Ithaca and Trumansburg, spent some of the weekend hiking Falls and visiting the park and Farmers Market.

I can only say again, that we could not have found a more perfect place for Graduation weekend! Incredibly better than any hotel and created a true family feeling. Thank you Ann, Chad and VRBO!

Perfect Ithaca Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The Cottage at Taughannock was absolutely lovely! The property was quiet and private, yet close enough to both Ithaca and Trumansburg if we needed anything. The bedrooms were comfortable and the house itself was in great shape. Everything was clean and we had all we needed for a wonderful weekend. Ann and Chad were wonderful hosts as well!

The Cottage is charming and well equipped. Perfect for our family gathering.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 9 stayed at the Cottage for 3 nights. The setting is beautiful and the home had all the amenities necessary for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. It turned out that this weekend was homecoming for Cornell so it was extra nice to be a little bit outside Ithaca. Our hosts we responsive to our questions and needs and have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into ensuring the satisfaction of their guests. We appreciate their willingness to offer such a nice property for our 'vacation'.

Great location - lovely home

  • 5 of 5

This lovely cottage was perfect for our family! Great spacious floor plan with plenty of bedrooms. Nicely decorated to make you feel welcomed, warm and cozy. The home has everything you could need in the kitchen as well as outdoor grilling supplies. The back and side yard are gorgeous with beautiful hydrangeas and tall, luscious trees. Location is perfect with it being close to the park, lake and nearby wineries not to mention Trumansburg and Ithaca. The Finger lake region is absolutely wonderful and the Corning Museum is a must see!
