Cozy, quaint & quiet

  • 5 of 5

Very cozy place with many amenities. Enjoyed our stay so much we wish we would've had one more day, especially since it rained most of the day that we were there, but we still really enjoyed it and would go back! Enjoyed some beef jerky from the local market and the Cidermill had live music Saturday evening. My husband caught a catfish off of the dock!

Fun in the Sun!

  • 4 of 5

As the pictures suggest this really is a very cute and inviting cottage, nicely decorated with lighthouses and birdhouses and things aquatic in general. Perfect for a lakefront cottage atmosphere. Tom provided all kinds of information as to other area entertainment, restaurants, groceries, and the like. Neighbors were friendly and helpful. The kitchen looked to be recently renovated with well thought out use of space and new appliances, and well outfitted with dishes, cookware and many staples for the stay. It was clean and comfortable and has a lovely view of that end of the lake, which we enjoyed over coffee on the glassed in porch every morning. We loved swimming, grilling out everyday, using the paddleboat, and enjoying the use of the firepit nearly every night. Though we did not fish ourselves, we saw them jumping morning and night and there were many fishermen out there during the course of our stay - even saw many good sized fish swimming near the dock routinely. What a lovely, relaxing week - it was hard to leave it behind. The only reason we did not give it a 5 rating was because of all of the steps - from car to cottage, up and down within the cottage, and once out, up and down to the lake itself. Personally, I thought it was just good exercise for the week, but perhaps more difficult to deal with if there are small children, like my 2 year old grandson who came to visit. The upside was that there is a refrigerator with freezer on the ground floor and a bathroom so the necessities are handy once on ground level. Nonetheless, a perfect week; I'd go there again!

nice place, good stay

  • 5 of 5

Tom is the owner and did a good job in providing the need to know details from the time of booking through arrival. The cottage is in a nice area in that it is far enough from tings you want to get away from but still close enough to the essentials you might need. The cabin itself was nice and had all the essentials one would need. I'd be inclined to stay here again!

Cute and comfortable for family

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is clean and cozy. We have plenty of room for a family of 5, with teenagers. Fishing was great.

Fun Fishing

  • 4 of 5

This cottage was a great getaway for our anniversary. We loved taking the row boat out on the lake to go fishing. The sizes of the fish in the photos are very accurate including the big bass! We caught at least 12 large mouth bass during our four days and even 1 northern pike! I couldn't believe how big some of them were that we caught. John the caretaker was wonderful. He gave us many fishing tips and even gave us some "wacky worms" which led to all of our bass catches!

We also enjoyed having breakfast on the screened porch, grilling out for dinner, watching sunsets from the swinging chair and having multiple bonfires during our stay. On one of the rainy days we ventured over to Cherry Creek Schoolhouse Winery just 10 minutes away from the cottage. They have wine tastings for $5 that include a complimentary wine glass. Then each time you come back the tastings are free if you bring your glass. They also had a lovely outdoor seating area overlooking the vineyard that would've been perfect if it wasn't raining!
