For the sports enthusiast, Ojai is a nationally famous golf and tennis destination, home to the golf course at The Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, and placed second in a national “tennis town” contest due to it’s perfect weather and pristine open tennis courts. In addition, the lovely Lake Casitas is just 5 miles up the road, with the best bass fishing in California , and a local waterpark for the kids.

Shoppers will find a quaint downtown street of locally owned upscale boutiques and art galleries, including an independent toy store and several quality consignment stores for shoppers who love the hunt. And don’t miss locally famous Bart’s Books, an open air mecca for used books and the people who love them.

Historically, Ojai has served as home to global spiritual and artistic leaders such as Krishnamurti, the Theosophists and Beatrice Wood. Currently, scores of healers, bodyworkers and mystics comprise an active healing community. And local art is everywhere, with frequent studio tours available.

Come treat yourself to a truly special place, a wide open space to e-x-h-a-l-e ....

About Kim McLin

When I purchased this land in 2000 it was a chemically farmed citrus orchard. I made the three year transition to organic, designed and built the home and the gardens, diversified, and the culmination of those efforts are this small and wonderful community we now call Red Tail Ranch complete with an organic farm (Mano Farm) and seed company (All Good Things). And yes - there are beautiful Red Tail Hawks here!

Kim McLin purchased this villa in 2000

Why Kim McLin chose Central Coast California

If you want to experience living in nature but with ultimate comfort, to 'escape it all' but without giving up anything, then you need to spend some time here at Red Tail Ranch. It is a magical and restorative place, a 9000 year old registered archeological site - a milling site of the Oak Grove Indians - productive - the perfect place for an organic farm!

What makes this villa unique

The incredible views, the quiet, the darkness, the stars, the history, the energy, the magic!

My friends & I had a wonderful time in this beautiful villa surrounded by nature. Kim has created a lovely retreat- a perfect place to "get away from it all". We left feeling so rejuvenated & grateful for having experienced such a beautiful space. Thank you!

Amazing boutique like house with views for days

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing weekend here. We travel a lot and tend to stay in very unique high end boutique hotels in foreign counties. This place was right on par with how unique it is and made us feel like we were in another country. I was amazed at how relaxed I felt here. The views were amazing and the location was very close to restaurants and shopping. Home was beautifully decorated and well equipped with everything we needed. I especially loved the freshly picked flowers placed in every room upon our arrival. And the outdoor landscaping, gardens and fountains made our stress melt away. We will be back!

A fantastic, beautiful experience and a gracious host.

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do the villa justice. Everything is wonderfully appointed, the landscaping gorgeous, the spaces large and perfect for hanging out with a group or more intimate setting. The property is incredibly situated, surrounded by mountains and wild life. Wonderful!

Beautiful villa and Quiet Location

  • 5 of 5

We loved our four nights spent at the villa the end of June. The mountain views while eating breakfast on the patio were great as were the gardens. Really enjoyed the steam shower as others reported. The house stayed cool on hot days and the kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed the drive up 33 to the Carrizo Plain one day. We want to return in the spring when the wildflowers are out.

Owner's Response: I emailed my guest to inquire what other information she would have liked to have had about the property and the area that was not provided in my lengthy VRBO description and owner information or in my home info printout or the many Ojai magazines provided but I have not heard back - and of course there is so much information online these days. I generally meet guests at one point or another during their stay but not always and I also want to give them as much privacy as possible. I used to meet everyone initially but over time I realized that because I often have couples that come for a romantic weekend getaway, they seem to appreciate having the private joy of discovery themselves when they arrive and of course I am always available if they have questions or concerns or want to meet in person. I am also always open to constructive criticism and requests in order to improve and provide the best experience possible:-)

Beautifully appointed house in a gorgeous natural setting.

  • 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous one bedroom house with a high end kitchen, steam shower, three extra daybeds beyond the queen in the bedroom. Everything is chosen and laid out with great care and taste. The setting is magical - the owner, Kim, is a landscape architect and the gardens are a wonderful mix of carefully laid out plantings blending with the natural chaparral vegetation and adjacent orange groves. There is also a very private hot tub on a bluff overlooking beautiful mountain views. Kim is a very warm and welcoming owner. And there are miles of hiking trails literally down the street at the Ventura River Preserve of the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy. This place is a gem.
