This original lakefront log cabin was built in the late1930s as a fishing camp. It has a private dock and a spectacular view of Crooked Lake. This lake is a beautiful 110 acre all sports lake adjacent to the Waterloo Recreation Area. The recreation area encompasses 20,000 acres, has 47 miles of hiking trails, fishing lakes, nature and equestrian trails.
The cabin is approximately 950 sq. ft., with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. It still maintains the rustic ambiance but has been updated with modern conveniences. The front bedroom has a Queen bed and there are 2 built in log twin beds. Ideal as a private retreat for a couple or 4 people, but is capable of sleeping 6. The log sofa in the living room can be converted to a full size futon bed.
The lake has a public boat launch and you may bring your own boat. We provide a paddle boat, canoe and a couple of kayaks for your use.
We have been staying in cabins for 10 years, this is by far the best. The owners had everything we could possibly need in the cabin. We enjoyed the paddleboat and fire each night. The kitchen had everything to stay in and cook each meal. The pictures don't do the cabin justice, it was just perfect. The owners had the leaves blown and firewood ready for the fire (in or outside). I can't say enough about this cabin. The owners showed up the nicest hospitality. Excellent stay and very close to all the Waterloo trails.
We really enjoyed our stay at this picturesque lake. The cabin was very clean and well- equipped, meanwhile our stay was enhanced by the friendly and welcoming nature of our hosts. The lake was very peaceful, however our children also really enjoyed using the variety of watersports equipment available at the cabin. We hope to return at some point soon!
We chose Crooked Lake cabin for our sisters annual spring get-together. It was wonderful. The cabin was spotless and so well taken care of. The owners, Doreen & Dominie were so kind and helpful. It was a joy to meet them. Being able to relax by a campfire overlooking the lake is about as peaceful as you can get. We had a special treat! We watched a momma chipmunk move her babies from their nest by the water to the back of the property. I didn't think anything could be so cute as a tiny baby chipmunk.
As advertised, it was exactly what we wanted and more. We had a great time. Beautiful fall colors surround a great fishing lake. The rustic cabin and
fireplace made are stay even more enjoyable. It's a place where you can sit back and relax listening to nature. Doreen and Dominie were unbelievable
with their hospitality. They greeted us like family.
Your cottage was perfect for the rest I needed. Thank you!
We stayed here while we were in the area for our wedding! It was the perfect home base for us. Close enough to civilization that we could get to family events easily, but still secluded and beautiful. Our families joined us for BBQs a few afternoons, and the kids (big and small) loved the paddleboat and playing by the lake. I wish we could've stayed for a month!
The log cabin is located 6 miles from the village of Chelsea and 22 miles from Ann Arbor. It is only 3 miles from the expressway (I-94), yet secluded and away from all the bustle once you arrive at this lakeside sanctuary.
