Comfortably appointed Gite within a renovated 18th Century stone Mas, with Ivy clad walls. Mas Grandiflora is just 10 minutes from Perpignan International airport within the historic village of Espira de L'Agly. Encircled by lush gardens it is a gardeners delight with a large Magnolia Grandiflora, Hibiscus, Bougainvillea, Datura, grape vines and orange and lemon tress. The shared pool (open May to October) is private but has a view of the 12th Century bell tower and village Church.

La Bougainvillea sleeps 2 to 6.

We also have 2 other Gites on the premises. La Petite Maison sleeps 2, L'Hibiscus sleeps 2 adults and 2 small children sharing a sofa bed.

La Bougainvillea one of 3 Gites, can offer accommodation for up to 6 people through the use of either 1 or 2 bedrooms. It is possible for a party of 2 or 3 to use the upstairs area only and not use the ground floor bedroom, in this case the rental rate would be reduced.

Entrance off the terrace. There is a ground floor bedroom with double bed and single bed. There is a toilet and vanity basin on the ground floor. A flight of stairs lead into open plan air conditioned lounge/ dining area and kitchen area of the Gite with double French windows looking out over the historic Church and College. Comfortably furnished with a double convertible sofa, free Wi-Fi, iPod docking station, English(limited) and French TV are all provided. The kitchen area is fully fitted and fully equipped with electrical appliances and all cooking utensil. A separate double bedroom and a shower room lie off the kitchen.

The ground floor terrace area offers table, chairs and barbecue for alfresco dining.

Excellent Gite and Holiday

A lovely gite exactly as described, we were at home as soon as we arrived, with all the modern facilities we are used to coming from a capital city but set in a lovely countryside village not far from sandy beaches and spectacular mountains, not to mention lots and lots of vineyards, which of course means.... eating lots of grapes! :)

We spent a long time searching for the right destination for our 2 week holiday because we expected a lot 1, warm weather 2, comfort 3, rest 4, access to different activities to match the weather (October) 5, value for the pennies 6, good experience and memories, all these boxes were ticked and we had a great holiday.

The Owners Julia and Julian were perfect, very welcoming and helpful showing a genuine interest in our plans and exploration of the area including overseeing our efforts to BBQ (although I suspect that may have been partly motivated by self preservation and the protection of their beautiful home from a possible fire!)

I could go on?........ really though, if you have read all the information and are trying to decide? It is as described, we will be back to enjoy the relaxation and so much to see and explore yet .

great location comfortable apartment

We really enjoyed our stay in the area. Espira is the perfect launchpad for visits inland to the mediaeval villages in the foothills of the Pyrenees and to the (blue flag) beaches of the Mediterranean. Warm weather and warm sea in October! The owners were friendly, helpful and approachable. The apartment was well-equipped, very comfortable. Would happily return. Much more to see and do.

Had a wonderful week staying at La Bougainvillea and Elaine & Alvin were very welcoming hosts. The apartment was spotless and comfortable and the pool was an absolute joy after a days sightseeing. The outside area for sitting and eating was surrounded by an absolutely beautifully kept garden. There is a BBQ available and despite the stairs, this was made use of a couple of times. Based in a village opposite the church, with a small supermarket, bakers, butchers, bar and restaurant there is everything you need to hand but would recommend a car as there is so much to see and do not too far away. We very much intend to come back to this area in the future and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Roussillon Breaks, Espira de l'Agly nr Perpignan

Had a lovely time here, stayed in the L'Hibiscus gite which is up some stairs so be aware of that. There is outside dining area downstairs along with a BBQ supplied along with utensils.

The kitchen, bedroom and dining area is all open plan and spacious looking out across to the abbey of Espira-de-l'Agly. The bells will chime from 07:00 - 22:00 but you don't notice them after a while. Indeed when your laying on sunbed but the pool it comes in handy.

The garden is quite spectacular at this time of year with just about everything you can think of Mediterranean plant and it's probably there.

We were very well looked after by Alvin & Elaine and would love to go back again.

In fact, we have several rebookers each year! One comment we would make is that most of our reviews say 55+ is the age group they recommend. We have a variety of age groups from young families to pensioners and even honeymooners! So anyone, whatever age, who appreciates peace, quiet, stunning scenery within a short distance or beautiful beaches, interesting historical places or just to laze by the pool, Mas Grandiflora will be for you.

We stayed with Alvin and Elaine along with our son , daughter in law and 4 grandchildren giving them their first french holiday. The accommodation was ideal for us all with plenty of space. The children loved the pool and also enjoyed walking to the shop to buy the morning croissants. Lots of great places to visit nearby and magnificent scenery in the mountains. Alvin was most helpful with local information and routes to take. Plenty of activities for the young people although all a drive away. Great markets nearby. Very easy to get to the airport. A lovely holiday thank you Alvin and Elaine.

Parfait pour explorer Perpignan et les alentours

Nous avons loué cet appartement en juin 2010. Il est situé dans une magnifique propriété au coeur d'un charmant village. L'accueil a été très cordial. Les propriétaires habitent sur les lieux et veillent à notre confort. L'appartement lui-même était bien meublé et très bien équipé. Nous avons aussi pu profiter de la magnifique piscine. L'appartement est très près de Perpignan et des plages de la Méditerranée. De là, nous avons aussi pu visiter les sites intéressants des alentours (Collioure, Rivesaltes, Villefranche sur Conflent, Carcassonne, etc..) pusque npus avions une auto. Fortement recommandé.
