The farm Podere Vicoferaldi covers an area of 16 hectres with 640 olive trees that produce excellent extra vergin olive oil owing to the height of the olive groves at 450 metres, you may taste and purchase the olive oil during your visit.
There is a vinyard of one hectre which produces excellent grapes that are sent to the winery called “Viticoltori Colline Arno & Sieve (V.I.C.A.S.) for the production of Chianti Rufina D.O.C. which you may enjoy with your meals .
As the owner is English she takes pleasure in making various jams at home with biological fruit from the farm – figs, cherries, blackberries, prunes, plums, and japonica – which she serves at breakfast and you can also sample english crumble and various fruit tarts as desert.
ENGLISH: A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR ITALIANS !
As Mrs. Bianchi is English she is prepared to give english or italian courses of 2 hours per day (prices to be established on arrival depending on the number of students).
I am english and married to a Siciliian builder. I was born in London and went to Battle Abbey School in sussex. I then finished my studies at Oxford and worked in London until I was 25 when I came to Florence to work.
Elizabeth purchased this farmhouse in 2001
It took me 10 years to find a property I really liked as I was looking for somewhere really pretty but within 30 mins of the city of Florence. Naturally with a builder as a husband we were able to face drastic rebuilding on an old house, and we are still building and working on the grounds to turn it into a beautiful agriturism.
Very near Florence but hidden amongst the Florentine hills. We are also on the train route which is fantastic as they go right into the heart of Florence. We are also surrounded by wonderful restaurants.
Nestling in the Tuscan hills at a height of 450 metres in an unspoiled valley of the Mugello region halfway up Monte Giovi (Mount Jove), is the farmhouse of Elizabeth and Luigi Bianchi. The farmhouse has been converted with central heating throughout and has three double letting rooms maintaining their original characteristics with en-suite bathrooms, and a double bedroom with double and single bed, and large bathroom for the disabled on the ground floor with private garden. The barn has been converted into two maisonettes sleeping 2 to 6 people with individual central heating.
The swimming pool is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the wonderfull landscape.
The surrounding countryside is teeming with wildlife and has stunning views where one can treck or cycle by mountain bike, fish in the lakes or horse ride through the woods. At the top of Monte Giovi is a restaurant at “Tamburino”serving lunches and dinner, and a second very nice restaurant half-way down the road, also near the farm is a pizzeria which is open on Saturdays and Sundays with dancing facilities in the summer. At the bottom of the road that leads to the farm is another pizzeria alongside a fishing lake which is open each evening .
A few kilometres away is the village of Rufina, home of the famous wine which takes its name from this area, with small restaurants, supermarket and shops.
There is a station at Rufina where you can leave your car – parking is free – with frequent trains to and from the city of Florence that take about 20 minutes.
A perfect location to combine peace and tranquillity with the option of sight-seeing in the city of Florence and others.
