Looking for a relaxing get away; this is the place. This beautiful farmhouse has been in the family for 4 generations. The Farm house has 3 bedrooms 1 bath; 2000 sq. feet; will accommodate 6 - 7 people. Located on 50+ acres where you can hike and explore. Great Mountain Bike Trails within 1 mile of property. See Moore Spring Trails. Located 1/2 mile from Dan River and 4 miles from Hanging Rock State Park. The view from this property is breathtaking. 1 Bedroom downstairs; 2 upstairs. 2 queens, 1 full and 1 twin. Linens furnished. Has cable TV with DVR in living room & downstairs BR. No phone but good cell service with verizon is available in this area. Ceiling fans a/c window units in rooms downstairs; upstairs has a/c window units. 4 beautiful rock veneer fireplace's downstairs. 1 in each room. Original hardwood floors upstairs. If you want to go back in time and stay in a historic farmhouse this is the place but we think you will want to spend most of your time on the front porch where you can relax and take in the beautiful view of Hanging Rock and Moores Knob and of course you will probably see lots of wildlife including deer and wild turkeys. No neighbors in site; this a GREAT PLACE to enjoy your vacation while visiting wonderful Stokes County..

The Coal Ash spilled on the Dan River was 50 miles river activities are still great.

About Debbie Vaden

I'm the 4th generation property owner. My great garndfather built this house around 1902. There is a family cemetery located on the property. I grew up here and Stokes County has lots of recreational activities to offer. I have lived in many places throughout the US but this area is where my heart has always been. Love it here; you will too!

Debbie Vaden purchased this farmhouse in 1900

Why Debbie Vaden chose North Carolina

The best thing about this property is its incredible view and the privacy the 50 acre property affords.

Beautiful and Secluded

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Vaden farmhouse. The location of the house allows for complete seclusion and a beautiful view. Debbie was wonderful and met us there to give us the details we needed. I could see us returning in the future during warmer weather. Also great for larger groups.

Beautiful views, quietness, close to Hanging Rock

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely loved gazing at the scenery from the porch and windows. Relaxing. Took me back to my childhood. Both sons, ages 23 and 22, and a friend age 21 were intrigued with the area. Hiking around the property, finding the creek, going to Hanging Rock, using the woodstove, exploring the barn, the wood shed, etc. Even when it rained we found something to, play board games, take a nap, walk in the rain! Definitely recommend this lovely farmhouse to make memories and to bring back memories. Thank you Debbie for being such a caring host. We plan to return.

A wonderful spring break getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four (two boys ages 11 and 14), along with our dog, absolutely loved our spring break visit to this farmhouse a stone's throw from Hanging Rock State Park. We loved hearing the history of the farmhouse from the owner, the great granddaughter of the man who built it in 1902! We enjoyed breakfasts and dinners out on the picnic table, read books on the front porch while looking out at the spectacular view, walked with our dog all over the property (and visited the family plot high on a hill), and sat by the fire pit on a full-moon night. During the day, we visited Hanging Rock State Park - a truly fabulous park full of amazing hikes - as well as Stone Mountain State Park. We slurped milkshakes from a yummy creamery in Danbury, and strolled Mt. Airy. Our whole visit was just a complete and total break from the rat race, and we all loved it. It's easy to just disconnect and enjoy this house, location and farmhouse, and as silly as it may sound, I loved sitting on the porch and thinking that I was enjoying the same view that was there in 1902. As residents of the wildly growing No. Virginia area, that's not something we can say about where we live, and I found it very calming and relaxing. :) Debbie is also very communicative and made our arrival and departure extremely easy - I would recommend this house and location to anyone!

Not Disappointed

  • 5 of 5

Debbie was great at letting us know what to do and expect. The house and property were perfect for the family vacation we wanted. I didn't want to travel and stay in a motel/ hotel. The Vaden property was exactly what I wanted for a family trip including kids and pets. The view alone was worth the trip. I hope to return soon and have already recommended it to others.

Another great time at the farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

This was our 4th stay at the Vaden Farmhouse, and every time in winter, usually January.  We come here to escape and relax after the holidays; an exodus from the city, schedules, and commitments.  Mom, Dad, a small dog, 2 kids with a couple of friends.  The Farmhouse seems to recharge our inner batteries by keeping everything simple, the way it must have been a few generations ago.  Others might prefer an all-inclusive, itinerary-driven vacation.  You won’t find that here.  Look at the photos.  Just an older, comfortable homestead, dozens of acres of woods, pastures, and creeks, and a million dollar view from the big front porch.  With so much land, you might not see another person for a week unless you drove off the property.  Where else are you going to find that on VRBO?   Still, there’s plenty to do, even in winter.  We climbed Hanging Rock (which dominates the view in front of the house) and attended the polar plunge.  The kids played endless football and soccer games on the south field.  Spontaneous hikes start at the front door and can take any direction, following 4x4 trails into the forest.  The dog wore herself out.  Meals were the highlight of the day.  We cooked a pot of spaghetti and ate it outside, cowboy style.  Then roasted doughnuts on a stick over the fire pit for dessert.  This led to ‘steak on a stick’ the next night, whole chickens the next.  Debbie is a very accommodating host, with spot-on communication before and after.  We will return to Vaden Farm again and again because it is distinctively beautiful and a great value.
