This home is one of the original Folly Beach cottages. There are three bedrooms(1 queen, 1 full, 2 twins). 1 bath. Nice open floor plan. Heartpine wood floors through out. Screened in front porch. Nice back yard. New addition of big back deck.
The location of this home sits in a nice, quiet part of the island.
It is close to everything you want access to at the beach. Only 3 blocks to the beach. Two blocks to walk down to Center St. where all the restaurants, and shopping are on the island. Folly Beach Park is for the kids is within walking distance too. Tennis courts/Basketball court there as well. Bert's grocery market is within walking distance too.
This home has the charm of the Lowcountry. Very comfortable and cozy. Home surrounded by palms, and a trophy live oak.
This part of the island is also great for biking, or renting a golf cart while you are here. Enough room to park a boat on a trailer in the back yard. Up to 20' or so. Public boat ramp only 3 blocks away.
The Historic District of Charleston is only 20 minutes away.
I moved to Charleston, SC from Wilmington, NC. I went to school at UNCW and graduated with an Environmental Science degree., and fell in love with the coast. Ended up in real estate. Working for real estate for developers, it has taken me, up and down the coast from NC, to FL. I met my beautiful wife in Charleston, and we are now living in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the city of Asheville raising our family.
Lee Swing purchased this cottage in 2002
When i first moved to Charleston, i rented a home on Folly Beach. It had such a great, laid back feel, unlike other beaches that i have lived before. The home i had rented, had a similar location to 303 E.Huron, close to center st., and a short walk down to the beach. When i was shopping for a home, those criteria were very important. I also love trees, and the old mature palms blowing in the breeze was also a very welcome sound to me. There is a trophy live oak(huge canopy) that is very indicative of the south, that greets you as you pull in to the home.
The walk down to Center St. is relaxing as you take in the scenery, and before you know it, you are in the middle of all the shopping, and great places to eat. The Folly Crabshack is a favorite for local seafood, or for twist, go to the new Taco Boy restaurant. A walk on the pier after dinner for ice cream is a given. The location is what you will like about this home, convenient to everything, but on a quiet street on Folly. Also to drive to downtown Charleston from here is very scenic, and only 20 minutes away.
We've rented this house once a year since 2013. We love the house, and Lee is great work with.
Unfortunately we had to cut this year's stay short due to Hurricane Matthew. However, the hurricane policy was very reasonable, and we felt very fortunate after talking to other vacationers leaving the island who were just out of luck.
The house itself is awesome. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the house is peaceful and relaxing.
Every year there's some kind of improvement to the house, not that it has ever been bad, it's just obvious they're continually working to make it even better.
We walked 3 blocks into town to eat more than once and enjoyed that very much. Not far at all.weather was great whole time. We will be back soon we hope . Thanks for sharing your home with us!
My husband and our little Yorkie really enjoyed our week at this quaint cottage. The neighborhood is charming and quiet. This is the ideal place for rest and relaxation. The house and all it offers, make you feel like you are at the beach many years ago. We rented a golf cart and enjoyed riding around in the evenings. Our Yorkie loved his walks through the neighborhood, as well as seeing all the other dogs on their walks. He also loved his walks on the beach. If you are looking to party and make noise, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to relax and be carefree, then look no further. Many thanks to Mr. Swing for allowing us to share his little piece of heaven-at the beach!
Beach-biking, wave-splashing, cart-riding, shrimp-eating, dog-walking, boat-touring, sand-lying, sun-soaking, hammock-reading bliss!
We loved the house in the spirit of old Miami. It was a welcome friend at the end of an awesome day at the beach. Great A/C, comfortable bed, screened front porch for morning coffee and a plastic cup on the tub for washing children's hair. Family friendly and quiet. No elevators or long steps up. Just a short walk to Burts grocery and the beach. We brought our beach cart and made the trip easy. We will be back!
We had a great time at Lee's place. Within easy walking distance to the beach but quiet and peaceful. Great neighborhood. We walked to dinner several nights at one of the many great downtown Folly restaurants. Charleston is only 20 minutes away. The house had everything we needed and the front porch and back deck are great for sitting having morning coffee or evening relaxing. Beds are super comfortable. We hope to stay here again.
