Awaken at Pelican Beach to amazing sunrises on this peaceful Coral Bay side of St. John USVI. Pelican Beach, one of the few St. John vacation rentals available directly on the beach, features fabulous outside living spaces with breathtaking views, cool evening breezes and almost daily visits from soaring, diving pelicans. At this unique, waterfront St. John accommodation, you will be lulled into peaceful bliss by the sound of the surf, both day and night.
Spend a lazy afternoon under the Seagrape tree canopy on our deck directly on a beautiful coral beach. Gazing out on the clear blue and aqua tranquil waters, don't be surprised to actually see a fish swimming by or to be dazzled by the air acrobatics of a leaping eagle ray. The semi private beach is available within footsteps from the grounds with some of the best snorkeling on the island because it is seldom disturbed. You never know what to expect from the amazing sea life.
Relax in our round gazebo, with its comfortable large furniture, and absorb the panoramic views from Tortola (BVI), East End (St. John), Flannigan Island (US) and Norman Island (BVI). Sun bathe during the day or dine in the evening shade on our large deck, just above the Seagrape trees.
Pelican Beach is a large waterfront home with a separate vacation rental unit. Managers are on premises in the upstairs section of the home. They can arrange boating, kayaking, or snorkel excursions for you if you wish.
The indoor living space provides two bedrooms with comfortable queen beds, fully equipped kitchen with full size appliances and a ceramic tiled bath with laundry facilities. The two bedrooms have air conditioners. The owner's sister is an artist, so unique touches can be found throughout. The furnishing and artwork reflect the owner's significant travels throughout the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.
Wind down after a day of snorkeling and swimming in the screened in living room with amazing views and evening breezes. To finish off that busy day of vacationing, relax in your air-conditioned bedroom to watch a movie or favorite TV show. Each bedroom has its own cable TV with over 100 channels.
Pelican Beach strives to be environmentally friendly with the addition of our solar panels. We have developed extensive organic gardens, recycle as much as possible and created composting areas. We are planning to add hydroponic gardening in the near future. Our guests can enjoy our fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables when available. The landscaped grounds include a variety of palm trees, flowering plants to attract humming birds and many species of cactus and succulents.
Miss Lucy's restaurant is a very short walk for evening dining, Sunday Jazz Brunch or a casual lunch. Miss Lucy's is known for their Caribbean and Seafood menu selections. They are rated 4.5 out of 5.0 on Trip Advisor.
In addition to the North Shore beaches, many other beaches such as Salt Pond Beach and remote Lameshur Bay are a short drive away.
Coral Bay, with a variety of restaurants and shopping, is a 7 - 10 minute drive.
Pelican Beach, described by many as paradise found, far away from the stress of everyday living.

About Leslie & Steve McKibben
Property managers Leslie and Steve live on premises in the upstairs section of the home. We started vacationing in St. John many years ago. We often dreamed about a life away from the relatively structured life we lived in Florida, so in 2013 we took a chance on ourselves, sold our house and moved to St. John! After Hurricanes Irma and Maria the house we were living in was rendered uninhabitable, and during the course of our search for a new place to live we were contacted by our friends Nancy and Jason, who own and have run the Pelican Beach Villa since they purchased (and upgraded!) the property in 2009. They had been planning to fulfill a long standing dream of theirs to travel and explore North America in an RV, and were looking for the right people to live on and manage the property while they were away. It turned out to be a win-win situation for both us and them! Leslie is living her dream. She left the private pediatric physical therapy practice she had built in order to live in her paradise. After briefly working in a comprehensive pediatric facility on nearby St. Thomas, she now focuses on the babysitting service she runs for the benefit of both visiting families and island residents alike. Steve is living a life above and beyond his expectations. While still working part-time online for a youth sports organization stateside, he also leads kayak and snorkeling tours, has worked in the kitchen at some local restaurants, and has coached an elementary school soccer team here. Both Leslie and Steve love to get in the water and pursue their hobby of marine photography, and both are active in the community as volunteers for a number of charitable organizations and events.

Great house in Coral Bay right on the water
We had a great stay at Jason and Nancy's house in Coral Bay. Family of four, with kids age 11 and 13. Nice screened in patio and outside deck with bbq grill and nice furnishings throughout the house. Good bedrooms with AC in each room and nice shower. Plenty of beach chairs and bags to use. Jason and Nancy were great to work with and very helpful for any questions that we had. If you are interested in a boat tour, Jason runs a boat and will give you a discount. If you stay in St. John, Coral Bay is the place togo as it is 15-20 minutes to all the best beaches, yet away from the main harbor in Cruz Bay. St. John itself is amazing since 3/4 is National Park. We will be back!
Great location on the Best Side of the Island
If you are interested in snorkeling, uncrowded beaches, and beautiful hikes, you should definitely stay on this side of the island. Pelican Beach is incredibly convenient to some of the best places: Salt Pond, Lameshur Bay(s), and even Maho, if you get there early.
Nancy & Josh are very welcoming and full of information. One the first day we asked Josh were we could find sea turtles: he told us exactly where (and there they were)! They pretty much know everything about beaches, hikes, snorkeling, shortcuts, restaurants, etc. They even called to advise us about an alternate route when it was raining hard the last day & there was some flooding.
Be aware that the beach in front of the house is not sandy and doesn't really have easy entry (rocks & seaweed), but it hardly matters when Salt Pond Bay is 10 minutes down the road.
Spacious ,quiet, serene and close to everything.
Pelican beach is paradise found. The outside living areas are superb from the gazebo (we named pelican perch) to the lounge chairs on the spacious deck to the superb deck right next to the water under the sea grapes. If there are a few sprinkles the screened in porch was welcoming. Falling asleep to the waves was unreal, plus sunrise is right out the door. The bedrooms are nicely furnished, the kitchen stocked with everything you need. It does have quite a few stairs to navigate down with you luggage so be aware of that. Gated private covered parking...what else do you need! Saw carib hummingbird nest on the lower deck and a pair of smooth billed an that came to visit. Snorkeling on st. Johns is to die for and thanks to the owners for equipment, including life jackets. Just show up, slow down, and enjoy the beauty!
A piece of paradise
We loved our stay at Pelican Beach! The suite was everything that we hoped it would be and more - a little piece of paradise. Nancy and Jason were wonderful hosts. We couldn't have asked for a more incredible setting for our teenagers first swim in an ocean and hope to be able to return one day.
Thank you for this review. Please come back to see us next year!!!
Serenity with a view
You can leave the sliders open at night and enjoy the sounds of the waves and nature. Very relaxing! I love the sound of the frogs. We spent a fair amount of time on the screened in porch enjoying the view and watching the pelicans. The kitchen has everything you will need.....including a bottle of rum and a blender. Short walk to Miss Lucy's for yummy food and entertainment.
Private beach with exquisite amenities and breathtaking views
I never write reviews-what's the point? But I had to share this hidden gem- it's that special.
My family of 4 (2 kids: 10 and 7) spent a week at this property. There aren't enough words to describe the hospitality and the amount of fun and relaxation we had here. The place is nicely appointed with everything you need. You have your own PRIVATE beach within walking steps of your place-read: Close to the blender!
The hosts were available to ask questions regarding places to eat and places to snorkel-but we barely ventured out-it was that spectacular. We snorkeled, paddle boarded and kayaked (THEY HAVE ALL THE GEAR)!!! And we also plopped on the beach and did nothing with not another person around.
We will return.
The house is located approx. 7-10 minutes south of Coral Bay on the So. Shore Rd. at Friis Bay.
Coral Bay has a variety of restaurants and shopping.
Miss Lucy's restaurant is a very short walk for evening dining, Sunday Jazz Brunch or a casual lunch.
Salt Pond and Lameshur Bays - in the Nat'l Park - are only a 5-10 minute ride from the house. Both have great hiking trails and snorkeling.
