Great location , ,nice clean home
I travel to the Asheville area for business and have stayed at this home a few times. It is very centrally located. It's a small little house that has everything needed. It's clean and comfortable .I highly recommend it.
Cozy and comfy
Cozy and comfortable rental with everything you need. The location cannot he beat. We had a great stay and would recommend it to any future friends coming into town. Thanks for the easy check in process and hospitality.
Caveat Emptor. We did not end up staying here. Owner was responsive but no refund.
I want to be fair with this review. The owner has been forthright and responsive and I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because of him The house is a small house on the back lot of a home. There is a driveway that is very difficult to see at night that brings you to the back of the house. We arrived at 1am and drove back and forth for 15 minutes trying to find the driveway. House numbers were not evident from the street and the house number on the rental was not visible until you went up the driveway. When we opened the door, we immediately sensed, what another reviewer described as a musty smell. The smell was not subtle. My wife and I are very sensitive to mold and mildew and could not take the chance of staying there. Prior to leaving, we took a very quick walk through the unit. The posted pictures are accurate, but the condition of everything is more 'used' than expected. If you zoom in on the posted pictures, you may see what I mean. Also, the lighting in the house cast a yellow light. After less than 5 minutes, we decided we could not stay here. We contacted the owner who was very responsive and even offered us another house if we wanted to go see it. However, we were only in town for 3 days and did not want to take away precious time from friends to check out another place that may or may have not been suitable. We ended up staying at a hotel and doubled the cost of our lodging. If you are going to rent this place, just prepared for a place that is not as 'nice' as a hotel or likely where you live. We've never stayed in this area and maybe all the rentals are like this, but the furniture. bedding, etc. looked liked it had well used for a number of years. I'm not sure if the smell was mildew, mold or must, but there is a noticeable smell. Again, i would have been much more angry if not for the responsive of the owner. I did not get my money back, but did not feel he was purposely trying to rip me off. I understand he did not rent to someone else because we paid for the time and he has to make a living, but I still lost $1400. We are highly unlikely to book another VRBO in this area. Last, it is in fact near the River Arts District. This district is an area where some of the abandoned old warehouses have been converted to nice art galleries. In between the galleries are empty lots, empty buildings, barb wire...not the nicest area to walk around in, especially at night - again, just my opinion. This was our experience.
Im sorry the cottage did not meet your expectations. Asheville is known for its older historic homes. Most were built in the early 1900s .i detail this in the listing. We feel as though it is part of the charm of the city and adds to the feeling of experiencing ashecille like a local. It may not be right for everyone and in that case yes a newer hotel would be a better choice. The house is an older cottage but it is clean and tidy and has a completely new and remodeled bathroom. It is as close to downtown as you can get unless you stay in a hotel. Again im sorry it was not for you but i think had you stayed you would have found it to be a great place to stay especially the view of the woods and quiet mornings that you cant get in a downtown hotel room.
Great location but lacking true outside space for pets
Although this house was in a great location (walking distance to downtown, various breweries, and restaurants), it was not very pet-friendly. The house does have a fenced in back yard, but the grass was almost knee high and the back staircase was pretty steep and didn't feel safe/sturdy. The house itself offered plenty of room for the two of us and our dog. It would have been nice to be able to open the front and/or back door to get some airflow (the house did smell a bit musty), but neither door had a screen. The house does have a coffee maker, but when we tried to use it, there was old moldy coffee in the filter (not a huge deal, but it was a bit off-putting). Overall, it was a decent property, but I wished it would have provided a more safe place to let out our dog (I only let him out once out the back door on a leash because I was too afraid that he would fall off the landing or down the steps and I couldn't tell what was in the grass because it was so high).
Thank you for the Feedback I have gardeners and cleaning people who are obviously not doing their job and so I really appreciate your input and will follow up on items mentioned .. i wish u would have contacted me during your stay since i would have had them cut grass right away.
Asheville Charming Cottage
Owners extremely responsive and supportive at this quaint, charming cottage in Asheville. Great location to downtown and the Biltmore. We trailered and stabled our horses at the Biltmore, while we stayed at this very nice place. After a long day of hiking while our girls were trail riding, we enjoyed the evenings in Asheville and the quietness of this rental. Thanks to Andy & Lisa!
Thanks to you for being such a great guest and taking such good care of the cottage. We hope to see you back in the future
Cozy in a perfect location
The cottage was nice, clean a cozy... located in a residential area, close enough to the action, yet away from the noise.
