I am a retired Banker. Living the country girl life on the beautiful San Marcos River. I have four dogs and four horses. Yes, life is good.
Linda Scudday purchased this cabin in 2001
It's beautiful, serene, and great fun. Great location in Central Texas. On the edge of the Hill country Wine industry. Wine tours are avaiilable thru the tour companies. Major cities are close and small towns surround. You would be 35 minutes from Airport and the Speedway. This is the right choice for any of your get aways.
Location, location, location right on the San Marcos River. Serene, beautiful, country life within minutes of shopping, movies, groceries, and entertainment. Within minutes you can be in Austin, San Antonio, Tangers Shopping Mall, the Speedway, Lockhart BBQ Capital, historic Gurene, and the water sports of New Braunfels. Come enjoy.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at this wonderful cabin and location, enjoying every moment. First the secenery, the large pecan trees and calm tranquil river was breathtaking upon our arrival. I loved the cabin! The cabin immediately instills you a very warm and cozy feeling, and is well equipped with just about anything you need, comfy bed and great outdoor patio. It was a wonderful weekend, one night sipping on wine out on the patio gazing upon the stars, to having a nice bbq under the trees, enjoying nature, and having a relaxing tube ride down San Marcos river. Only regret not bringing our dogs to enjoy the vast land to roam free and play with cute squirrels:)
Where to begin....upon arrival we were greeted by three of the happiest, friendliest horses we have ever encountered. The River House was very clean and charming. Definitely enjoyed the cottage feel. We spent 4 days mountain biking, kite flying, fishing on the San Marcos River and visiting the local winery. (3 Dudes )
Oh yeah, I ALSO PROPOSED TO MY BEAUTIFUL GIRLFRIEND!!!! All and all we were very impressed with the private setting, the beauty and the charm of the area. On a side note, The owner Leslie helped make this a very memorable stay for us and even brought us down a very nice Pinot Noir to help us celebrate . ( my girlfriend said yes.... )
We will be returning often. :-)
A great location just far enough outside of Austin. Quiet, and relaxing deck to hang out on, or around the fire. Simple and comfortable cabin.
The owner's horses are quite friendly, and seem to enjoy attention. Easy access to the San Marcos River on the property.
Several chill wineries within 15 minutes, if your into that, and not too far from the Purgatory Creek trail system.
We stayed for a week in the cabin with our two dogs. The area around the cabin was great for them to run and play. The cabin was fairly well equipped with dishes and such. The laundry was great to have as we where traveling for a few weeks, the dryer did have a problem with a broken knob that took a while to figure out the drying cycle. Overall a good experiences with friendly host that gave us some good ideas for dinner options and sights.
If you are looking for true riverfront property with easy access to all that the Texas hill country has to offer, look no further. The cabin is spacious, has a cool loft, and a gorgeous wooded area that leads up to the beautiful San Marcos river. Many people know about the Comal and Guadalupe, but the true hidden gem is the San Marcos river. We had a great romantic weekend visiting Wimberly and Driftwood's wineries and restaurants. What we really enjoyed is that the location of the cabin is close enough to San Marcos that you can access all the modern day luxuries but far enough away that you get to experience the peace and quiet of the river and country side. The cabin was clean and ready to go when we arrived and well equipped with everything we needed. The cabin also has a really great screened in porch perfect for enjoying your morning coffee. Not that it was needed(you're in the country) but it was nice that the property was secured by gated entry for complete privacy. Really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back! Thanks Linda!
I have never been to San Marcos and thought Austin had the best rivers and parks but after visiting Linda's cabin and had some time to explore San Marcos, this will definitely be my go to little getaway. The cabin was clean, decorated very nicely, and had everything my husband and I needed. Extra blankets, pillows, some bbq supplies, washer dryer, enough kitchenware, etc. My favorite part of our little getaway was definitely waking up every morning and seeing nothing but land and her beautiful horses. I enjoyed how close we were to the San Marcos river, it was blue! Water was clean, did a little fishing. It was peaceful, quiet, and secluded. I also liked the location because it was secluded but also only 20 minutes away from other activities. We went to grab a bite to eat at Pluckers (yum), explored Wonder World Cave, visited the biggest shopping outlet, and went to Five Mile Dam Park. We enjoyed our trip very much!
Looking for a romantic get away? Our cabin is a quiet relaxing vacation home that is centrally located between two metropolis areas, San Antonio and Austin. However, if you like the small town atmosphere, downtown areas in New Braunfels, San Marcos, and Lockhart offer antique shopping, outlet shopping, and. locally established restaurants. Our place offers small town atmosphere as its in Historical Staples,Texas population, 210. It's within walking distance of the historical park. But only 10 minutes from the city life of San Marcos and Lockhart.
