My wife and I stayed at Bella Sonoma with our friends and family (4 adults and 4 children) for a weekend and were truly impressed by the estate and warm welcome provided by the owner and his family. We had originally planned to tour the vineyards on Saturday, but were perfectly content staying at Bella Sonoma enjoying the view, taking our own self-guided tour through the active vineyard, and drinking a bottle of excellent Pinot Noir on the expansive porch. On top of those experiences, the owner drove up and brought us freshly made pesto pasta and polenta from his nearby Italian restaurant. His food was fantastic and the whole stay was an unexpected and special treat for us, our friends, and family.
In terms of comparing it to other places, the pro's are: outstanding property, warm, welcoming interactions throughout the process, big place with great views, and great relative value. The con's are: dated interior as you can see from photos (kitchen, bathrooms) and location (within wine country, but a little far from the main vineyards).
I was a guest of the previous reviewer, Monica. We stayed in one of the guest bedrooms at the vineyard, and this place is everything Monica said it was: clean, spacious, a wonderful kitchen, spectacular views and very homey. Good internet access, too.
The place has got a serene vibe... it's not a slick hotel, but a large, beautiful and rambling country house where you are a cherished guest -- with the run of the place.
We took walks in the vineyard but mostly relaxed on the deck, guzzling Bella Sonoma vino and chowing down on great food, some of which came from the Pasta King. (OMG... the garlic polenta must not be missed.) One night we went to Art's Place... excellent food. The rest of the time we cooked in the kitchen, barbecued on the deck, and basically had a blast.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a place for several people while visiting the area. We came to celebrate a graduation from Sonoma State, and it was perfect: enough room for all the extended family and friends. Lovely!
This home is so much more than the photos show. After the charming gated entrance, you proceed up the grapevine lined drive to the house. There is ample parking for everyone. Then you immediately have to choose between going in the house to unpack (boring), walking through the 50 acre vineyard surrounding the house, paddling in the boat on the pond or just taking in the views of this fabulous place while tasting the 'house' wine. On the deck they provided multiple options for eating, conversing, barbecuing or just sitting out on the deck. The home is huge with large bedrooms and baths, with plenty spare blankets and towels. It is solidly built so we never heard any noise by any one else. The kitchen has all the utensils, pots and pans, plates, etc... you will need. It was stocked with fresh coffee, sugar, olive oil, etc... Oh, and the wine is fantastic. Do not miss trying the Pinot Noir. If you choose not to drink it, send it to me! There is a television in every bedroom and the living room. It has a large laundry room, too!
The biggest bonus is if you are lucky enough to receive a visit by the owner, Art, The Pasta King. He came by to make sure all was well and we ended up wishing he was our grandpa! And if you get hungry and don't want to cook, don't miss a visit to his restaurant, Art's Place, just up the road to partake of his heavenly garlic polenta, pizza and angus burgers. You might even see his daughter working behind the counter.
This is a perfect place for a family reunion, college graduation (us), bridal party get away, family or wine country vacation. It is definitely not a party house for young adults who want to get drunk and might damage this great place. This is way above that kind of place.
All things considered, this is a great value and we feel lucky to have been able to enjoy it. Thanks Ibleto family!
Beautiful setting, perfect location for Napa, Sonoma and coast, helped harvest Pinot Noir grapes at the friendly invite from the vineyard workers- an amazing treat. Art- the owner was helpful and gracious. He also owns an Italian catering co. and kept us supplied with food. We will be back.
