This 1927 home has 6 bedroom/5 baths and guest house with full bath next to heated 40' pool overlooking breathtaking views of Lake Erie on groomed four acre estate. Great for active family reunions-croquet, bocci, Frisbee, football, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, biking on nearby Freedom Trail.
Owner grew up on the shore of Lake Erie and across the Niagara River in Buffalo. Florida Resident since 1982, my family and friends have visited 'Canada' every summer and enjoyed the incredible amount of things to do while boating and swimming in crystal clear Lake Erie. When this home and property became available, we renovated kitchen, electric and plumbing while maintaining the beautiful hardwood floors throughout and the grand salon/living room with huge fireplaces at either end.
Richard Coley purchased this estate in 2005
Growing up, my good friend and his family lived here and we played football, slip and slide, go-carting, and many other fun activities. Our children and grandchildren have enjoyed staying here during summer breaks, but now everyone gets busy across the Country, so I decided to put it on VRBO so other families can discover this hidden gem of the Niagara Region of Canada.
We are close to Niagara Falls-23 miles and the Napa Valley of Canada-Niagara on the Lake. Niagara Falls has its Casinos, restaurants, and fun nightlife. We are 35 minutes from the BUffalo airport and 15 minutes into Downtown Buffalo with its great nightlife on Elmwood or Chippewa St. Mainly we enjoy entertaining right here on the huge lawn overlooking Lake Erie and the American Lakeshore, often with bonfires in our firepit almost every night. Great for kids and s-mores!
This vacation home far exceeded our expectations. The amenities encompassed activities for younger children, teenagers, and adults. We spent eight days, and no-one complained of boredom. Both the kids enjoyed bicycling, canoing, the pool, and playing softball in the huge backyard. My poodle got his daily exercise from chasing the foxes and rabbits that wandered over to the property. We had a birthday celebration for over 75 people and we did not feel cramped. The property is exactly the way the owner described it. We had numerous conversations around the huge dining table. Every guest gave this property rave reviews. We hope to make this home our permanent vacation spot in Ontario.
One has expectations for a vacation. This was far beyond any expectations held by every one of our 10 person 3 families high hopes. Activities for everyone, including the gourmet cooks who never wanted for the perfect tool to complete the menu. Attention to every detail was thought of by the owner who arranged for the massive lawn to be cut as we were departing. My reminder to future guests is water shoes as the lake provides a short span of rocks from the sandy beach and entrance to the lake and the endless sandbar a short distance out.
My family has gathered for reunions all across the US, from Seattle to Cape Cod, and Staniland Park won the hand vote for the best location! Our family traveled from the NW Coast; Albuquerque, NM; several locations in VA; and from Buffalo and Rochester. The pool and the lake provided all the different types of water activities we wanted - safe swimming for the toddlers and babies; a shallow beach for the kids; and more adventurous activities for the adults. The beautiful sunsets and rises had the photographers snapping and the kids ran after balls and frisbees on the extensive lawns until they dropped! The house provided plenty of space for our families and also place for quiet reading. We bonded over the pool table and the bonfire. There were numerous runs and bike rides on the very close Friendship Trail and different groups enjoyed trips to Toronto and Niagara Falls. It was a grand week - we strongly recommend a stay on Staniland Park!
Our family recently rented this beautiful property for a week. The house was perfect for our group of 18 which included 8 teenagers and young adults. There was plenty for all to do with the lake and the pool. The house was equipped with bikes, a sunfish, kayaks, and a rowboat for outdoor play and a pool table inside. There was ample space for us all to be together or to have our own individual space for quiet activities. The location was great for day excursions to Niagra Falls (some of our group biked there), the neat little town of Niagra on the Lake and wineries. It was easy to find and crossing the border was no problem. The owner was very attentive throughout the entire process of reserving our week and during our stay and was very interested in making sure we enjoyed our time at the house. We would definitely recommend renting this property and would consider doing so again.
My husband and I rented this incredible home for the month of July.....2014. We had both grown up in the Buffalo area but had raised our family of four in South Carolina. We wanted the opportunity to reconnect with friends and family in the Buffalo area and introduce our eleven grandchildren to their Western New York roots. This property provided the perfect spot. Each of our four children came with their children and spent a week with us with a little overlapping of the families. This home provided everything we could possible want for the month......ample linens, towels, beach towels, a kitchen stocked with anything and everything you could possible imagine......even enough serving dishes and the like for a lawn party for fifty. We spent time at the Falls and of course a Buffalo tour with each family but the best days of all were when we stayed at "the house" and enjoyed all the amenities there.....pool, boats, kayaks, bikes, pool table and yes even the piano.....I coule go on and on. We loved this wonderful home and we all hope for a repeat in the not too distant future. Also thanks to you Dick....you gave us some great ideas concerning the area and were always available to answer questions.......truly a dream vacation that we all treasure!
Minutes from Buffalo, this Canadian lakefront vacation home allowed family members to come and go as needed, but had plenty of room for all of us to be together when time permitted. The home is roomy and well stocked. The pool, the view of Lake Erie, and the firepit were the highlights of our stay, as well as the bicycles in the garage which allowed the grandkids to ride with us along the Friendship Trail, only about 1/2 mile from the home. The gas and charcoal grills worked well and were very much appreciated. Our pets loved long walks up the beach to Thunder Bay. The homeowner was extremely helpful and pleasant throughout the experience, contacting us beforehand as well as during our stay. I would highly recommend this home for fellow Buffalonians who want to experience the Canadian lakeshore!
