I would highly recommend Sheri's place. The view was great from the back porch. Beds were comfortable and every thing was clean and neat. The only adds that I would make would be to have some ceiling fans or just some small fans available, at least for the room with the 3 twin beds in it. Curtains/blinds on the window in the bedroom would be nice. The TV had to change channels from the receiver (remote did not work). Overall great place for our needs!
The purpose of my visit to Ketchikan was to spend time with 3 of my grandchildren who live there. Sheri and family's property provided the perfect place! It is out of town, so even the kids felt like they were somewhere special, and who doesn't enjoy a fabulous view of the water?! We had room to play, room to visit, the ability to be comfortably all together or spend a little bit of time alone. The kitchen is well-stocked with the utensils, dishes, pots, and pans that we needed to cook for ourselves. Yet, when we did want to go into town, it was only a 20-minute drive. Sheri provided just the right amount of contact; she gave us information we needed when we needed it and let us know she was just upstairs if we needed her, yet we also felt the peace of being on our own. The private entrance and views erased the fact that we drove through an Alaskan neighborhood to get there. As a former Ketchikan resident, I know I've found a wonderful place to stay when I return to visit!
We stayed here in June 2014 as two couples and really enjoyed our stay. Everything we wanted was in this roomy apartment, and it was spotlessly clean. We saw whales, eagles and humming birds from the deck and it was nice being away from the busy town. You will need a car to take full advantage of the location, and we couldn't have chosen a better spot.
We stayed here for 3 nights and just loved our stay. Very roomy and spotlessly clean. Enjoyed pool table and excellent all round facilities. Weather was very kind to us so loved sitting out on the deck. We saw 4 hump back whales in the bay and lots of humming birds and eagles. Hosts are very helpful. We would definitely recommend this rental as 5 star accomodation
We stayed 5 nights in May, 2014. The proprietors live upstairs, and the entire ground level floor is the rental. It is enormous! The hosts were very accommodating (ie, we needed a corkscrew) and everything was ready for us. There is a big covered deck that spans the entire width of the house and faces west for beautiful sunsets and water views. It isn't on the beach, but you can hike down to it via a rocky, Alaskan-y trail (I watched two little girls heading down with their life jackets on) - and you can hear the waves as they hit the beach. So soothing! Bald eagles galore, and hummingbirds. The bed we slept in was uber comfy. You will not want to leave!
Our family spent a wonderful five days at this rental and would go back again in a heartbeat! The owners live right upstairs so if we had needed anything, they were right there ready to help. Huge flat screen, pool table and foosball table made it fun for us all but the biggest plus was the killer view. Bald eagles and fishing boats and even hummingbird wars...it was super relaxing to sit on the expansive porch and watch the world go by. Beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. Children will love the wide open spaces to run around in. You WILL need a car if you want to drive to town or the beach or do anything besides stay put and relax...but for me, that would have been enough.
Conveniently located 1/4 mile from Clover Pass Resort and 1 mile from Knudson Cove Marina and the public boat launch. Minutes from local elementary school with playground, ball fields, and accessible trail to Coast Guard beach.
