About Dung Vo

We moved to the California Delta for fresh air and access to the water sports. The location is perfect for an avid bass fisherman where one can fish in any of the over 1000 miles of water right out the door.

Dung Vo purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Dung Vo chose California

The Delta is a magical piece of California for those who love the water. You are close to San Francisco, Napa and to any outdoor activity you can think of. It is calm, peaceful, filled with beautiful birds and plenty of cute animals like otters and seals. The cottage is designed to look East coast in style and is nothing but the best quality making your stay all the better.

What makes this cottage unique

You can have access to the water, but privacy as no one is directly on either side. You can swim safely or fish right off the dock. You have your own private large deck and docks. All the amenities like restaurants, movies and shopping are only a few miles away. This is one of the primer fishing destinations of the world. 'I have been meaning to thank you again for allowing my family to spend the weekend at your lovely cottage on the delta. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely come again if you will have us.. Respectfully yours, Gina A'

'Most folks in the Bay Area 'get away' to the coast or up to Napa/Sonoma, but the Delta is a hidden jewel, and we were so blessed to find this spot on our first overnight trip. It is simply heaven, a light-filled studio floating on a dock, connected to the 'mainland' by a gangplank. We could walk out the door and jump in the water, or set off to explore the sloughs in the two-seater kayak or little motor-boat, both included in the rental and likewise floating in a slip right out the door. The efficiency kitchen and grill had everything we needed for cooking all weekend (except for a toaster, but I bet they will correct that as soon as they see this review). It was quiet, private, and COMPLETELY RELAXING. Jo Ella was the perfect host: always available, never intrusive. We could barely drag ourselves away, and we'll definitely be back! ' Pam C'

Relaxing time in a beautiful spot

  • 5 of 5

My wife, adult daughter and I had a great weekend at Dung's cottage at the Delta. We barely budged off the deck on the water, though we floated in inner tubes and took Dung up on her kind offer to make use of her family's small fishing boat and paddle boat (unexpected and pleasant amenities). We're novice fisher people, but we caught tons of bluegill off the dock, which was a lot of fun.

The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, utensils etc. As Dung's description indicates, there is no stove or oven, but there is a toaster oven and a single-burner electric stovetop and, of course, the gas barbecue (and plenty of propane on hand).

Dung provided the perfect balance of being helpful and respecting our privacy. When we came up with a couple of questions during our stay, Dung was on it.

One very minor nit: If you really need (or want) WiFi, it's not reliable. The router is in the main house in front of the cottage and not really accessible from the cottage. We found this to be more of a feature than a bug, as we enjoyed unplugging and playing board games and reeling in those bluegills. (FYI: If you need any fishing equipment or advice, hit Dan's Delta Outdoors on Main Street in Oakley. The guy working on the Saturday I showed up treated me like customer royalty, even though I only bought $3 worth of night crawlers. He helped me set up my cheap spinner reel rig and poked around a bit for a lively bunch of worms.)

All-in-all a great weekend. We hope to stay at Dung's cottage again.

Cute and cozy

My husband and I had a spectacular weekend relaxing and fishing. We caught catfish, striper, and tons of blue gill right off the dock. We enjoyed the peaceful weekend with low boat traffic, plenty of fish biting and very nice host. We will definitely return.

Best Value on The Delta

  • 5 of 5

My brothers, sons and nephew (somehow a sister in law snuck in) got together for a Guys Weekend. The hosts are most gracious and helpful. The cottage was immaculate. The fishing (boat included) was AWESOME! Caught bass (including a 5lb'er) and bluegill from the dock. We will definitely return.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

My buddy and I arrived on July 17. The cottage was very clean and accommodations were great. They even provided towels.

Fridge, microwave, grill included for cooking purposes.

Walk outside the sliding glass door and the dock for my boat was right there.

Great stay and very relaxing. Owners very nice and easy to work with.

I'd go back and I will definilty recommend to my friends!

Very relaxing and so adorable!!!!!

  • 4 of 5

Ok. I have to absolutely agree with the other comments and tell you how sweet the owners are. Very pleasant and are very assuring that she will be there for anything you may need. It is cozy, quiet, private, and relaxing. It was very nice that the fridge and freezer had plenty of bait to use as well. There were only a couple things that I didn't like. It wasn't perfectly clean but that wasn't what bothered me......I pulled out the trundle bed and found a couple mice droppings and tiny yellow pee spots. So I put it back and didn't end up using it. That piqued my interest so I looked around. Noticed a ton of dropping in the bathroom behind the toilet and around sink. My only other Concern was that the sheets on the queen bed didn't look clean. I saw dog hair on them and they didn't exactly have the fresh laundry scent. They looked slept in. I'm not super picky but thought that these were things that should definitely have been noticed and taken care of prior to our arrival. I found some Lysol wipes and did a scrub down. But other than that it is quite adorable and quiet. Unfortunately we didn't catch anything but one catfish.

I don't want this to be a negative review cause my issues could have been a honest mistake. It is a mini house on the dock, so very possible a mouse could be hanging around. The sheets on the trundle looked clean besides what I saw. It truly is a gem! I would stay again I just wanted to post this so that extra precaution is taken to assure this doesn't occur again.
