Seneca Lake House Rental Photos and Description

3-4 Bedroom, 3 bath with lake views close to the marina & downtown attractions

'Harbor West' has fantastic lake views and is located right in 'Downtown Watkins'. Home to the magnificent Watkins Glen State Park, Harbor Walk, International Raceway, visitor center, Clute Beach and a more than a few places to rent & launch boats. We are in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine & waterfall country. Harbor West has 3-4 BR & 3 baths. It sleeps 10-12 and is more of a family style home with a private courtyard and nice sun deck out back. The deck offers yet another place to take in the lake and get some sun - cool off in the out door shower or walk to your own boat in a rented slip or a rental from the marina across the street. Walk to all that downtown Watkins has to offer - leave your car out front - there is ample on-street parking. The location is perfect for large family gatherings. Please note there is a $175 housekeeping charge for stays less than 6 nights.

About Tom Schneider

Having visited many wine regions around the world (Rhine River Valley in Germany, Napa/Sonoma in US, Tuscany in Italy, and Hunter Valley in Austraila), we decided to explore the Finger Lake Wine region. We really enjoyed it due to its wonderful wines, beautiful views and amazing waterfalls. With a growing family, we decided to purchase our first property in 2006. In years following, we added two more properties and we continue to improve all of them so our expanded family and our guests (YOU!) can enjoy the Finger Lakes to its fullest potential. The Monster Bar'N Gameroom and Barn Apartment at Glen Eastern and Sun Deck at Harbor West are a few examples of how we continually improve our properties. We love to visit the wineries year round for their seasonal events and have camp fires & S'mores in the summertime and boating and hiking at the local Glens (Watkins, Buttermilk and Havana to name a few). One of our most favorite annual events is to participate in the Watkins Glen Cardboard Boat Regatta - its been a fathers day weekend family tradition for almost ten years.

Why Tom Schneider chose Seneca Lake

With a growing family, we knew it would be harder to travel like we were used too. With the Finger Lakes as close as they were and offering wineries, waterfalls and lakes, we decided it would be a wonderful place to vacation. After two years of enjoying our home ourselves, we decided to try renting to allow others to enjoy this wonderful property and region of the country. We found that we enjoyed it so much that we decided to continue to expand our properties to serve even more people. We feel our properties allow all our guests to select which type of property will work for them and their vacation plans. Rent all three for very large parties since they are only minutes away from one another.

What makes this house unique

We have had people stay with us from Australia to Brazil, Colorado, Texas, California and all over Europe and Canada. Time and again, they tell us how much we have made our places friendly for them and their families, traveling couples, women's scrap booking clubs, hunters, winter sports groups and automobile club outings. Each of our places are unique but hold the same high standard for your maximum comfort. All of our properties are located on the wine trail and are close enough to Watkins to enjoy all of it's many amenities and activities.

Wonderful visit

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this house. Great space and layout, wonderful views from the front deck, and just a few blocks from downtown. We thoroughly enjoyed Watkins Glen, the local wine tasting, and hiking through the gorge. Would absolutely stay again.

Awesome view

  • 5 of 5

This house is perfect! Great location, beautiful view, and very roomy. There were 9 of us staying for the weekend on a wine trip to Seneca lake wineries. It's in the perfect location for that as it is located right on the wine trail. And close to restraunts and shopping in Watkins glen. There's a very good restraunt right across the street. It's like your in town but kind of out of town. The house itself it very nice, roomy and comfortable. And sleeps 12 quite comfortably. Also the price is quite reasonable compared to what some of the others are asking in the area. Trust me on this I did my research. If any problems should arise the cleaning lady is close and just a phone call away. The view is amazing. Especially in the fall with all the autum splendor. I've stayed here 3 times now, and can't wait to return in the spring. The only flaw I've found is there is no wifi. But good phone reception. Can't have it all I guess. I highly recommend this property!

Perfect house for an active weekend in WG.

  • 5 of 5

A group of buddies from all over the country converged on Watkins Glen for a weekend of hiking the gorge, charity football and a day trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. The house was perfect. It slept all of us comfortably when we needed to crash! It was in walking distance to all of the restaurants and bars in WG, so when we had some down time we could head to town to hang out in that setting. Even when it rained heavily one evening and we were stuck inside, we were able to keep ourselves entertained with the many options that the house provided us. If we choose to meet in WG again next year, we will make it a priority to rent this house again.

Great Family Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We have been going to this house for the past 4 years to attend the NASCAR Race. There are 6 of us who stay. My husband and myself along with our daughter, son in law and grandchildren who are now 5 & 7 (they were 1 & 3 when we first rented). We have already booked again for next year as it is a perfect retreat for us. The house is homey and the front porch with the view is beyond words. There is a gate on the front porch so you don't have to worry about young children on the stairs. The bedrooms are a good size with comfy beds for a good nights sleep. Every night we would walk down to the marina with the kids and feed the ducks. The location is great for a walk downtown, a wine tour or a hike at the Falls. Our grandchildren love it there and look forward to the holiday every year. There are lots of toys and games for the kids to play. Then once they are in bed it is nice to sit on the front porch with a glass of wine. We would highly recommend this location for anyone of any age.

Perfect Family Rental

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for us. My daughter was being married at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel, 2 blocks away. We had 8 staying here, including a 6 year old and a 9 month old. Crib, stroller, toys, games all were clean and in good condition. We had a pre-wedding bridal shower and it was great for entertaining 20+ guests for that. After the wedding, we enjoyed some 'winding down' time around the propane fire pit. The view as pretty; the house was perfect. Thank you!

Good Location for walking Watkins Glen

  • 3 of 5

Pros

- location is ideally situated to the town of Watkins Glen and a short walk from the lake

- house was roomy with a beautiful view of the lake from a large porch

- plenty of seating and service for a large group

- owner was responsive and helpful

- Captain Bill's was a delightful meal enjoyed in the open air seating on a balmy October evening

Cons

- traffic noise from trucks and cars since the house fronts the road between the lake and the house

- mattresses (esp sleeper sofa) were not comfortable to sleep on

- the porch should have been cleaned; rails were filthy from not having been wiped down in months

The native peoples say that the Finger Lakes were created by their god placing his hand upon the earth. Today the Finger Lakes are home to some of the best NY State wineries, crystal clear lakes, waterfalls and all season activities. Almost all of the wineries and breweries are open year round. Watkins Glen offers a variety of shops, bars and restaurants with a quaint downtown area and harbor walk. Follow the Catherine Creek trail all the way to Horse Heads and enjoy some of the best fly fishing on the planet. Take a power boat or sailing excursion on the deepest lake in the US - west of the Rockies. Head south to Corning for the famous Museum of Glass and enjoy the Market Street attractions, brew houses and gastro pubs. Then turn east and head to Ithaca for the day to enjoy all the college town has to offer. Niagara Falls and the Baseball Hall of Fame are both just a day trip away. Two ski areas, ample snowmobiling and hunting will keep you entertained during the winter months. Come to the Finger Lakes and see what the area has to offer - and enjoy one of the places we call home.
