Enjoying the area: St. Tropez with its glitzy night life, bars and restaurants can be reached by ferry, which runs late during the high season. St. Tropez has all the designer and more modestly priced shops.

Activities: From Sainte Maxime and Les Issambres harbours there are ferries to St. Tropez regularly and other boat trips to Cannes, Nice and various places of interest. During high season there are spectacular firework displays all along the coast. Boats are available for rent from Sainte Maxime harbour. You can learn to dive or get your boat handlers licence training from there. For the less energetic there is a diving belle which takes you along the harbour wall to see the fish. All types of water sports are available within 5 km of the villa. There are many tennis courts for hire near the villa with some being flood lit. Most clubs offer coaching. There are lakes near Roquebrune for fishing. The mountain terrain behind St. Maxime is popular with cyclists and walkers. St. Tropez coastal walk is spectacular.

Events and trips further away: On August 15th to celebrate the Americans landing on Cherry Beach at the end of WW2 there are numerous parades in period dress in Sainte Maxime and other nearby towns, and there are spectacular firework displays - Sainte Maxime, Port Grimeaud, St. Tropez simultaneously. At the end of September is 'Les Voiles de St. Tropez' where sailing boats of varying sizes race. It's spectacular to hire a boat or to take the ferry and cruise amongst these beautiful competitors. The atmosphere is electric and festive as liveried crews get ready to sail 90 foot racing sail boats. Cannes is about a 40 minute drive away and convenient for the Film Festival. Nice, the 3rd largest city in France has everything from art galleries, concerts to open air markets. Monte Carlo and Italy are about 2 hrs away. To the west there is a beautiful coastline with wonderful beaches at Cavliere and Le Lavandou and all points in between.

A beautiful villa in a lovely town

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this villa. It's a repeat stay for us and we will keep coming back.

The villa is lovely and spacious and very well maintained - the pool is cleaned weekly and the garden was great, we even had fresh lemons off the tree.

I'd highly recommend this villa.

Paradise called "Villa St Julien"

  • 5 of 5

We first stayed at the Villa in 2011, spending 2 blissfully relaxing weeks. The whole experience, quality of the villa and facilities were so good that even on the way home we made plans to return this year.

Sitting in the Uk today with the rain pouring down we have very happy memories of our stay again this year. It was every bit as good an experience as last year.

The owner's attention to detail in ensuring you are fully prepared before you even leave the Uk is fantastic - regular contact, detailed instructions to get to the property, and a very detailed manual of all aspects of the property from access, through the various services down to the titles of books and DVD's that are at the Villa - fantastic !!

So good is this various information that we had a very good mental picture of the villa and its layout before we arrived - we weren't disappointed !!

The Villa is an idylic location just behind Ste Maxime - with panoramic views over a Golf course and out to the bay of St Tropez. It is in a totally tranquil and peaceful location - one can really get away from it all and unwind. In addition being on a gated estate of just 6 properties provides a feeling of great security

The villa for both our stays has been immaculately clean, a cleaner attending once a week, along with a gardener and a poolman. In the unlikely event of a concern or an issue, the owner is only a phone call or an EM away and responds immediately. Great service

As such for us the holiday was a 2 week break without stress, one could totally unwind and have fun, and with an array of sun beds and a glorious infinity pool , it was a real effort to ever leave the villa; and always a clammer to return from a trip out as quickly as possible.

For us we like this area of France - beautiful towns and villages in Provence, fantastic markets, and great towns including St Tropez to simply sit and "people watch", Depending on time you travel in the day you can get to many of these places in 30 minutes, though in August can take much longer (the boat to St Tropez though from Ste Maxime is quick - 10 minutes - and great fun). As for nightlife - local towns are buzzing till late and there are a plethora of great restaurants - catering for every taste - great fun

We would most definitely recommend - though are loath to do so in case we lose the chance to return ourselves!!! - so good is the experience.

Is there a downside - NO - other than having to leave and come home !!

wonderfull Sainte Maxime

  • 4 of 5

The small town of Sainte Maxime is the pefect place to spend the family vacations - and so we did this summer.

The villa is large, well equiped and nicely maintained and the service top-class.

We loved every day there.

An amazing place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this wonderful villa in August/September 2011 for 2 weeks. This was our third visit to this villa and was just as lovely as we remembered.

Jon was very helpful and provided us with a welcome pack (including a bottle of local wine) on arrival.

The villa was clean and well maintained and the garden gets prettier every year!

We have already booked 2 more holidays in the villa for 2012 and cannot wait to go back.

A lovely relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying in this amazing villa and it certainly lived up to our memories of the previous trip! The weather wasn't quite as kind but the great position of the villa meant we had an incredible view of lightning storms one evening.

The centre of St Maxime is a short drive away, as is the local beach and supermarket. We took the 10-minute ferry trip across the bay to St Tropez one morning which was far easier than driving. We also had a lovely meal in one of the restaurants down in the town, La Reserve - definitely worth a visit!

No problems at all with the villa, everything worked perfectly and was spotless.

I would have no hesitations at all in recommending a stay in this villa.

An absolutely beautiful villa in a commanding location with every amenity you could wish for.

A little on the pricey side, but this villa is the true embodiment of the saying 'you get what you pay for'.. The infinity pool is gorgeous - and the views are breathtaking.

Everything was spotless upon our arrival, the internet (Wi-Fi) was super-fast - plus the UK Sky TV was a lovely touch. The ice-cold air-con throughout was also a welcome respite from the 37 degree heat, plus the huge garage was the perfect place to keep the car cool rather than getting into a four wheeled oven (especially if your car is black, like mine..) !

We had a wonderful time here and will be certain to return. Jon (the owner) is courteous, professional and reliable, making the whole rental experience a pleasure.

Villa is situated in Les Hauts du Golf with breathtaking views to both the sea and the golf course. You are 5 minutes drive to the beach at La Nartelle and 5 minutes to the town centre which is well equipped with shops and restaurants. A full range of sporting activities are all within easy reach. St Tropez is only 10 minutes by ferry from the marina at St Maxime. In the other direction you are 30 minutes from Frejus with its magnificent beaches. Inland you are within minutes of beautiful countryside and vineyards. Despite the easy access the villa itself is peaceful as it sits at the very top of a gated community in a street with no passing traffic, so if all you want to do is get away from it all it is equally perfect.
