Overview

Oregon City House Rental Photos and Description

5 bedroom 3 bath home sleeps up to 12. Quiet setting, amazing river views

Our 5 bedroom, 3 bath home is situated in a quiet country neighborhood outside of Oregon City with amazing views of the Clackamas River and paths on the terraced lawn to the river's edge. This home has been recently constructed (2016) since a fire in January of 2015 burned the original home to the ground. We have made improvements to the original design with the view and our guests in mind. The new house has 3 full baths with showers and also a tub in the master, 5 bedrooms with queen beds and a full futon in the upstairs entertainment area. The home will sleep up to 12. Improvements include wheelchair accessibility to the main floor and updated heating and cooling, as well as an impressive gas fireplace and granite counters. Floors are tile and hardwood. Returning guests who remember the original house will see the same beautiful view and outdoor area with picnic tables and fire pot for roasting marshmallows, as well as easy access to the river for fishing or rafting depending on the time of year. Large, private yard great for gathering extended family. We are on the Clackamas River between Milo McIver State Park and Barton Park, and nearly at the end of a dead-end road. Photos will be updated as decorating and landscaping continues. .

About Ivan

We are a middle-aged couple with a vacation home (and a mortgage) instead of a retirement account. We enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and the privacy of our little bit of paradise. We think you will enjoy it too.

Ivan purchased this house in 2011

Why Ivan chose Willamette Valley Oregon

Because its the most perfect private retreat on the Clackamas River.

What makes this house unique

One of the extreme few places available for rent on the Clackamas River. Very private setting and quiet. You'll forget you are only 20 minutes from the city.

Great multi-generational home

  • 5 of 5

We were the first guests after the house was rebuilt, and it is just beautiful, inside and out. The owners have thought of everything to make our stay comfortable - a very well-stocked kitchen, nice linens, lots of towels, games for inside and outside, DVD for adults and kids, a new grill, wifi, and so much more. The property is very secluded, so we felt like we like we had a private getaway in the forest on a river. There were 12 of of staying there, 3 generations, and we had tons of space inside and out. We had extra family members over for a BBQ on Father's Day, and there was lots of room to visit on the porch and play in the yard. I would highly recommend this property.

River Run Family Fun

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd year and it was marvelous as the first, even new improved fire pit to enjoy! The home was beyond comfortable. The owners are warm and welcoming. The home has all the amenities needed for a family getaway. Looking forward to our 3rd year this July 2014. We have not encountered any issues. The neighbors are friendly if ever seen. Its private, cozy, and accommodating. Everything we need for our family gathering!

Stunningly beautiful riverfront cabin

  • 5 of 5

Three families gathered at this beautiful, lush, fairly remote location during our trip to Oregon City for a wedding. Coming from Los Angeles, it was such an incredible delight to rest in this bucolic setting. In addition to the gorgeous natural surroundings, the kitchen is fully stocked with absolutely everything you need to cook a full meal. The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and inviting. (Some of our more sensitive sleepers complained of soft beds.) There are loads of sleeping options for adults, preteens, and toddlers. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Beautiful setting

  • 2 of 5

Beautiful setting but way out of town and down a steep one lane road to the property with no near neighbors. Our first night the refrigerator started making huge noises. I called the owner who had a repair man call me and tell me how to fix it. I fixed his refrigerator while I was on vacation... hmmm, but I needed the noise to stop. On our last night a strange car came down the driveway and a person got out and was shining a flashlight around. It was un-nerving for my 85 year old mother and myself. I flipped on the outside lights and off the inside lights (there are not window coverings on all the windows). The person left but there were tire tracks in the field the next morning. I vacuumed the entire home before we left and was still dinged off the deposit for additional fees. I should have charged them for the refrigerator repairs and the burglar avoidance service I provided. Our service dog did was in the house and thankfully so with the intruder in the yard. They took our deposit for the dog also and charged us $40.00 for poop pick up when I had scooped it. It probably took them 4 hours to find one pile. So be prepared to have your deposit yanked and you may have to do repairs or scare off burglars.

Owner's Response: Our family owned vacation home is located in a quiet country setting, with no visible neighbors. the last 1/8 mile is a single-lane road with a steep descent to river level. There are no window coverings in the kitchen & living room to allow for unobstructed views of the river and beautiful private setting in the woods. We are sorry our guest was inconvenienced by the 2 year old refrigerator which had been working fine the day before. As we live an hour away and do not repair appliances for a living it seemed the issue would be most quickly resolved by having a repair technician talk through the troubleshooting procedures with the guest who was in the home with the refrigerator. Flipping the switch to shut off the ice maker resolved the noise issue. We were never informed at any time that a pet or a service dog would be present. This guest was charged in part for violation of the terms of the rental contract as it clearly stated in the contract and is posted on the door before entry that pets are not allowed indoors under any circumstances. They were also charged for the extra cleaning time required to clean pet hair off of the sofas and carpet, and additional laundering to loose items such as pillows, throws, and the daybed coverlet which had been soiled by a suspicious smear. The lawn was mowed immediately after the guest's departure. It became apparent right away, as I accidentally stepped in a pile of dog poop, that I would have to be aware of where I was walking. In the next 4 hours as I pushed the lawnmower I was dodging and avoiding piles of poop on all 3 areas of the lawn. It took me more than an hour after mowing to traverse the yard with bucket and shovel to pick up a week's worth of dog poop. It was most unpleasant. When this guest made inquiry via email a week later she was informed the unused portion of her security deposit had been mailed to her and that we were unhappy at having the terms of the rental agreement disregarded by allowing a pet on the furniture. She did not respond and at no time were we informed that a service dog was involved. We have guests who are sensitive to pet allergies and we strive to provide a clean & comfortable environment. Outside we have available an overhead dog run & a separate covered/fenced kennel for use at request. *The "burglar" seen at the end of the driveway was the neighbor looking for his fishing pole which had been lost earlier in the evening when pulling his boat out of the river.

Charming with all amenities

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this wonderful home in the woods, right on the River, is so inviting. There is plenty of space. We had two sets of Grandparents and our rather large family full optimizing the 12 sleeping spaces. We all had as much privacy as needed but spent a lot of time together as well.

You can fish on the Clackamass right from the back yard. There is a giant rope swing just off the front porch. This is like the awesome lake houses you see in the movies. The setting is so amazing, but know that you are definitely in the woods and about 20 to 30 minutes drive from shopping and services. The kitchen is large and roomy with a very accessible pantry. Three fire rings around the property to enjoy the outdoors in the evening. The size of this charming home belies the fact that it feels so "cozy".

Plan a week, you'll want to spend that much time relaxing and playing.
