About the property

5 bedroom 3 bath home sleeps up to 12. Quiet setting, amazing river views

Our 5 bedroom, 3 bath home is situated in a quiet country neighborhood to the east of Oregon City with amazing views of the Clackamas River. Choice of paths on the terraced lawn to take you to the river's edge. This home was recently constructed (2016) after a fire destroyed the original home. The floor plan of the new home is completely changed with the view and our guests in mind. The house has 3 full baths with showers and also a tub in the master, 5 bedrooms with queen beds and a full futon with memory foam mattress in the upstairs entertainment area. The home will sleep up to 12 with all linens and bedding provided There is wheelchair accessibility to the main floor, but it is not ADA compliant. An electric heat pump provides central heating and cooling, and the home includes an impressive gas fireplace and granite counters throughout. Floors are tile and hardwood. There is a large covered balcony off of the upstairs entertainment area for birds-eye viewing of the river and woodlands. The entertainment area has plenty of seating with a futon, reclining sofa and 2 recliners. A DVD player and DVD library accompanies the 55" LED TV with internet connectivity. Books for adults and children and board games are available for use as well as outdoor sports equipment and games. Full laundry room with additional refrigerator. Gas grill on covered patio off of living/dining area. Returning guests who remember the original house will see the same beautiful river and forest view and outdoor area with picnic tables and fire pot for toasting marshmallows, as well as easy access to the river for fishing or rafting depending on the time of year. Large, private yard great for gathering extended family. We are on the Clackamas River between Milo McIver State Park and Barton Park, and nearly at the end of a dead-end road. This is a favorite location of international fly fishermen. .

About Ivan

We are a middle-aged couple with a vacation home (and a mortgage) instead of a retirement account. We enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and the privacy of our little bit of paradise. We think you will enjoy it too.

Ivan purchased this house in 2011

Why Ivan chose Oregon City

It is the most perfect private country retreat on the Clackamas River with amazing views of river and woodlands unspoiled by progress.

What makes this house unique

One of the extreme few places available for rent on the Clackamas River. Very private setting and quiet. You'll forget you are only 20 minutes from the city.

Beautiful home, Remote location

  • 5 of 5

This home has been remodeled fairly recently and is beautiful inside and out! It sits on Clackamas River and Milo McIver State Park is about a 15 minute drive away; we had a wonderful half-day hike there. Home is spacious - accommodates 12 comfortably. Be prepared for a decent drive to get anywhere from this house; it takes a good 45 minutes to get to downtown Portland and 15 minutes to the nearest grocery. Also be prepared for a long (3 typewritten page) list of rules for the house.

Owner's Response: This home, newly constructed in 2016 is 13 miles east of I-205, 14 miles to a major shopping mall and 25 miles to Portland airport. Anyone familiar with Oregon will realize this is not a remote location but will appreciate the quiet county neighborhood and private setting with river and nature views unspoiled by progress. Our guests receive entry & arrival instructions (1 page front & back) with half the first page being directions to the house and instructions on using the electronic lock. The balance of the document includes where to find and/or use various items and amenities, operating of heating/cooling and gas fireplace. Sprinkled throughout are reminders of our house rules, most of which were included in the rental contract the guest signed when making the reservation. An additional page of departure instructions is included as a checklist for the guest to use when departing. Its purpose is to help the guest avoid charges against their security deposit and to promote a good experience for all parties.

Beautiful home, perfect for a group getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This house is absolutely wonderful and was perfect for a college roommate reunion with babies and small children. Not a single detail was left out in the design and ammenities, from the books, games, linens and well thought out instructions and home guide. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but that's what made it feel like a true getaway. Tammie and Ivan were incredibly responsive and thorough as well! I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for a beautiful house right on the river.

Beautiful property! Immaculately maintained, spacious and comfortable home!

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 12 traveled to Portland for a wedding on October 1st. We didn't want to stay in a hotel or downtown so we took a chance on a VRBO. We booked this property based on the reviews and photos. We were not disappointed! The property is right next to the river almost at the end of a road. It was so quiet and peaceful to sit in the provided chairs on the porch early in the morning with our coffee. Heaven! The interior of the house is beautiful. Everything about it is new. The large kitchen was well equipped and the appliances were new. Previous occupants left some non perishable items in the pantry which came in handy. It was spacious, clean, comfortable and cozy. We were together when we wanted to be, playing board games, talking and cooking. When we wanted to be separate from the rest of the group we could go to another area of the house. We didn't even want to watch TV. The bedrooms were large with comfortable beds and new bedding. The bathrooms were large and clean with plenty of towels. We had a full schedule of wedding activities so we weren't able to take advantage of the outdoor activities provided by the owners. We would definitely stay here again! The owners were very responsive to my emails and answered all my questions. Thank You Ivan and Tammie!

Terrific riverfront house with lots of space, peace & quiet!

  • 5 of 5

Riverview Lodge on the Clackamas River was our first VRBO experience and proved to be perfect for our "mini family reunion." With both kids & their spouses plus 3 grandkids, we totaled 9 people and had plenty of room and privacy. The bedrooms are comfortable, spacious, and some even have private reading or writing nooks (great for our granddaughter to work on her homework!). The kitchen is roomy and well-laid out, and the labels remind you where everything goes as you leave--a great help!

The dining room table is gorgeous, with plenty of room for 10 and great views of the river! The living room/dining room/kitchen bar/kitchen "great room" was the focus of family fun & conversation throughout our stay. Just wait 'til you see the views of the river from the "back porch" and upstairs deck--it was great fun watching the people float by canoeing, kayaking, or fishing, and very calm and relaxing as well. Note: the driving directions got us (and a few visitors one day) right to the property--yes, the final part of the road is narrow and bumpy in a couple spots, but we went up and down in all sorts of weather (including heavy rain) with no problems at all. Try the Riverview Lodge--we think you'll enjoy it as much as we did!

Lovely place to reunite with family and friends.

  • 5 of 5

The house was absolutely wonderful. Peaceful, comfortable, well equipped with everything we needed for our family and friends who came from California, Virginia and Texas. We all left with special memories of a great weekend, planning to come back again for a longer stay!

Wonderful Setting for a Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a house for a large house for a family reunion with folks coming in from both the west coast and the east coast. The Riverview Lodge was just perfect. It is set well off the road - actually a meandering drive downhill to the river front. It is a secluded property with no houses within sight on either side or across the river. The layout of the house is very open, yet with enough private space for those times we wanted to nap, read, or just remove ourselves from the three little boys in our family who readily fill up a space!

The owners thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. There are plenty of blankets and towels, toys for the kids, inflatables for the river, dishes, glasses, cutlery, cooking utensils, etc. Best of all, the pantry was full of extras that one never remembers to bring! Given that the nearest grocery store was a distance away, this was an especially helpful perk! There are also signs within the cupboards so one can get everything back where it belongs.

The property is large with two levels of grassy space that the kids used to their heart's content. The river front is shallow and rocky, but swimmable if you wade out far enough. The river is quiet during the week and more populated on the weekend as it is a popular spot for rafting. We also had a good time catching crawfish which we had as a little appetizer before dinner one evening. There is an abundance of wild life as well and we enjoyed seeing osprey and eagles daily as well as our resident bunnies.

We were graced with beautiful weather and field trips to Mt. Hood and to the Columbia River Gorge were easy drives. Make sure you spend a day rafting on the river. Some of the rapids were a bit scary, but doable. Don't miss the Bent Shovel Brewery which is open on weekends. It is very close to the house. We arrived too early for check in and, luckily, saw the sign on the road. The whole clan met us there thanks to GPS and text messaging. It was a wonderful way to start our vacation in Oregon.

In summary, this is a wonderful house, beautifully decorated and welcoming, in a beautiful setting.
