Our Villa situated in the exclusive resort community of Sugar Hill St James on the spectacular West Coast of Barbados. In a cool elevated section of the beautifully landscaped grounds of Sugar Hill. Facilities include 2 swimming pools, fitness gym and tennis courts. Maid service 3 mornings a week.
The comfortably furnished sitting room opens though French doors onto a large terrace with outdoor dining. On the ground floor there is a large bedroom furnished with king size bed and ensuite shower room. French doors open onto the large terrace. Upstairs 2 further bedrooms both opening through French doors onto private balconies. One bedroom has a queen size bed and ensuite shower room. The third (small) bedroom has twin beds and its own shower room. There is a well equipped kitchen with all amenities. An infinity pool is at the club house and further lovely pool is moments from the villa.
Check in is from 1500 hours and check out is at 1100 hours. Depending on availability a later check out may be possible. Unfortunately this can not be confirmed until after your arrival.
If you have a late flight departure we can arrange for your bags to be stored at the main reception next to the restaurant and main pool. There are shower and changing rooms available for your convenience.
Sugar HIll is on the West coast of Barbados in St James bordering the Caribbean Sea, wonderful for swimming and all watersport activities. At most hotels there is on offer water skiing, snorkeling and diving. Just drive into the hotel and tell security that you are going to the water sports area. Or call ahead and reserve time with your selected water spots facility. Fishing boats are on hire for deep sea fishing, there are many day and night trips on a variety of boats with snorkeling with lunch and drinks included.
If you prefer to explore the island and are interested in history, drive into The Garrison area which has recently become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This area is unique because it has survived intact, the buildings are now used for other purposes, becoming homes and business premises. Go to St Anns Fort and see the fine collection of 16th 17th Century cannons. An old custom has been revived every Wednesday at 11.50 at the Clock Tower the Changing of the sentry takes place, its free and charming with a small band playing and the personell dressed in their traditional Zoave unfforms it is a step back in time.The Barbados Museum is nearby, housed in the old hospital and prison, well worth a visit to see so many historical aspects of Barbados displayed together. George Washington House is on The Garrison, Barbados is the only country he visited outside the USA. It is a charming house beautifully and sensitively restored, the visit opens with an infomative film. For National Trust members entry is free bring your NT card with you for entry and also for use at other properties in Bds.
National Trust also include Andromeda Gardens - fabulous botanical garden planted in the 50,s by Iris Bannochie,Arlington House in Speightstown, and if you are visiting in the winter there is the National Trust series of Open Houses to visit. A reduced fee is paid on production of your NT card.
Do visit the magnificent East Coast, breath the fresh air straight from Africa, walk the beaches, take care if swimming as it is dangerous but there are rock pools to explore and paddle in to cool off. Drive along the East Coast Road now called ( I think Emmy Bourne Highway).
