Lagoon House

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,000 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

This house is a one story 2000 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 2 bath lagoon home on a cul-du-sac that was completely updated and remodeled 6 years ago. It is situated on a very quiet street with neighbors to the side as the width of the lagoon makes a rear fence unnecessary. You will see a lawn, trees and shrubs, a dock, water and water birds. There are covered and wind protected sitting areas in the front and back. The extensively landscaped gardens, classic redwood fencing and lagoon offers privacy, beauty and serenity seldom found in urban homes.

The interior consist of a formal living room and open floor area that includes dining area, kitchen and family room. Granite counter tops, SS sink and appliances and a large island are found in the fully equipped kitchen area. Grohe fixtures are used throughout the house, The 3 bedrooms with queen size beds are carpet with the designated kid’s room having the continuous cherry hard wood flooring. The baths have high end porcelain bowls and the whole house is set off with crown molding. The interior environment is quiet and very stable throughout the year due to radiant floor heating, heavily insulated walls/ceilings and the perfect Bay Area weather.

So Very Quiet and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

When I book with VRBO, I try to find really quiet locations. This house in Alameda was perfect; I think it was the quietest and most peaceful place I have ever rented anywhere. It was a quick ferry ride to SF and we drove a couple of times too (hint: take the on/off tour in SF and park around stop 8 or 9 which was $6 for 4 hours on the street and jump on the tour – Costco even had the Explorer Pass for extra savings). The bedroom with the bunk bed pictured is now twin beds which was great. The house was larger than the photos show. We are a family with teenage kids, and everyone had their own space. I would definitely recommend the house – enjoy!

Spring Break Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Traveling with my wife, mother, two teenage boys and a pre-teen daughter we needed plenty of space and the Lagoon House delivered. This was the perfect house for our spring break trip to San Francisco and the Bay area. The house is even better than the pictures with a ton of space to spread out and feel at home. The Lagoon House is located in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood close to shopping, dining and exploring. Easy access to San Francisco via the ferry or a pretty easy drive to everywhere from this location as long as you plan accordingly and don't attempt to travel during peak morning and evening commute times. Alameda is a great option to escape the busy city and offers great restaurants, parks and night life. My family truly enjoyed the Lagoon House, if you are thinking about staying in the bay area, don't let this one slip away.

Lovely! Clean, well equipped, tranquil

  • 5 of 5

We were pleased with this rental & definitely would stay there again. Perfect home away from home. Only thing that could have made our stay easier would be baby gear--maybe a pack & play & a high chair could be kept in the garage? No complaints though. It is a sweet house with a delightful garden. Close walk to the park. I highly recommend it!

Beautiful and comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

For a change, the house turned out to be better in real life than pictures on VRBO!

Immaculate condition and decorative details made us want to stay longer.

Felt Right at Home

  • 5 of 5

This relaxing Lagoon House was so perfect for us on our trip to visit family in Alameda. We are a family of four (Kids 9 & 11), and were able to have our Mom stay with us a few nights so we could all be comfortable. The open living room/kitchen area and large (beautiful) dining table were a plus. We ordered in almost every night, and the kitchen area was so accommodating. The view of the canal and all the ducks/birds were fun to watch. I loved the view of the tall palms over the houses opposite the canal at night. Easy to find and a short drive from a major shopping area. We walked to the park one morning with the kids and strolled the trail along the beach. Beautiful views and friendly people. We chose this trip to day-trip it to Sonoma 2 days. Leaving around 9am, It was an easy 1 hr 30 mins (or less) to see our first vineyard along the way. We had a great time both days. We were so happy to come "home" every night. Everyone wound down in their own space. Quiet area..relaxing at night and in the morning on back patio. The water pressure here is very strong! Bedrooms are more than ample. Setting up the rental on short notice was easy and the communication was very reliable. Thank you so much for sharing your home...we hope to return very soon.

Perfect - Perfect - Perfect!

Stayed there with 3 coworkers for a long out of town work week - It was so nice to go "home" to such a beautiful warm home to unwind. Home owner was amazing and easy to reach - I will definitely stay here again - maybe for vacation next time!

Greetings from Alameda! This island community is situated adjacent to familiar cities such as San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley. We have beaches, lagoons, trails, parks, and within the last 10 year, shopping and dining destinations. In the 1880’s, sea captains would dock their schooners offshore and were rowed to their shoreline mansions, which still exist. Hard to believe that there are more Victorian homes (per capita) than SF. Members of the international sailing community have taken advantage of the sailing and boating facilities that are situated throughout Alameda to prepare for sailing events that will occur on the Bay through the summer of 2013.

Freeway access is minutes away with the regional mass transit BART stations one block further. Ferry service is available throughout the day to SF, Marin, Pier 29, So SF (Genentech) and the SF Giants @ ATT Park. Oakland International is minutes away and you can see departing SFO flights from the nearby regional state beach. Bus service is on the next corner with a regional shopping center (Safeway, Trader Joe’s, Walgreens, TJ Maxx, Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohl’s) less than a mile away. It is absolutely flat and tree lined with miles of designated walking and cycling paths. Seniors take advantage of the safe environment for their daily walks.
