Laura Louise Farley and Sheila Farley Bryan recently fulfilled a long-lasting dream to own property in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. Walking around this beautiful place that Mother Nature created we’re overjoyed to own a piece of it that we can now share with you.
As young girls, we were lucky enough to spend every summer in the Bitterroot Valley with our grandparents, Joe and Louise Farley, at the Bitterroot Trout Farm in Hamilton, Montana. Our grandfather operated the trout farm and as little girls it was so fun to watch the fish slap the surface of pond while gulping down fish food. We were fascinated watching the fish go from the trout pond to the fish truck for delivery to other local ponds and this is where and how our love for Big Sky Country and fly fishing happened. As kids, we took it for granted, but now as we look back we know just how lucky we were.
Tom Hanks purchased this house in 2016
Our grandparents have now passed, but we feel their presence in the wind blowing through the trees here along the Bitterroot River. We know how happy they would be that we share their love of Montana and that we are now going to share it with others. There was never a time in the summer without double digit guests at their table for dinner! Whether playing games and laughing with friends and family, or simply smelling the fresh air after a rainstorm, the memories are precious and endless. They wanted to share this beautiful country with as many people as possible and we hope to do the same—please enjoy!
Our grandfather made it well into his 90’s and we asked him before he passed; what was the secret to longevity—he said three simple things you must do…
• Be retired longer than you ever work
• Live somewhere 20 years behind the times
• Breath fresh air every day
The Bitterroot Valley provides the last two for sure and while the first one might seem difficult to achieve, it is certainly worth working hard early in life to try and make it happen.
Laura has a wonderful significant other Jason, who went to college in Montana, Big Sky Country lives in him as well. They reside in Alaska, but the Bitterroot will soon become their home. Sheila has been married to Jeff for over 25 years, from the very beginning she told Jeff that she had to end up in Montana on the Bitterroot River. They currently live in Washington, but will also soon make Montana their home.
Thank you for allowing us to share our story with you and enjoy your time here at Two Sister’s Ranch!
This was a perfect place for our family of 12. It far exceeded our expectations. The house was very comfortable and the river setting was beautiful. The kids and grandkids enjoyed the fishing, rafting, swimming and tubing so very much.
Tom was great to work with and made sure everything ran smoothly. We would love to come back again.
We were down in Florence for a baseball tournament and the home met all of our needs. Great layout, beautiful property, swimming and fishing in the river was awesome!!. Tom, the property manager, was very helpful and the house was more than we expected. Hope to come again!
Got married here, what a wonderful location! Beautiful! Had everything we could of dreamed of. Tom, the property manager is the best, very very helpful and accommodating. Great swimming, great views, great house, great yard, great bunkhouse, cool kitchen, everything was great. Wish I lived here.
Enjoyed our stay at the Ranch House. Great location, met all our needs. It was great to wake up early and test my fly fishing skills each day right out the back door. Then again late afternoon doing the same. My wife enjoyed all the great views from the house. Enjoyed her walks in the area plus all the wildlife.
The home offered plenty of room for us all as we had 3 couples at the house. It had all we needed amenity wise plus some. Location is such that you can travel in several directions and take in all the area offers.
We would highly recommend this vacation home and have hopes of returning again!
Incredible place to stay and the manager Tom was very helpful, provided excellent information prior to and during our stay and never once failed to answer my emails or text. In fact, Tom was fighting fires in Oregon prior to our arrival and maintained communications when his time allowed.
The house was absolutely perfect for our family reunion and the size of the property and access allowed other family members to bring their travel trailers which was great for them and keeping the crowd small inside the house. The house itself allows for cooking large meals and allows everyone to sit and enjoy each others company while not feeling crowded or overrun.
There are no words that could properly describe the view, the beautiful river and the amount of fun and enjoyment this property and Tom made possible for our family reunion. Thanks Tom and we look forward to another great stay.
The home and property absolutely beautiful, located near to Missoula and other areas. The house is quite comfortable and spacious with a large kitchen and dining area which is easy to maneuver and cook in. We spent most of our time behind the house on the river bank enjoying the quiet scenery, fishing and floating the river. I completely fell in love the beauty of this location and surrounding scenery. I could have stayed a lifetime here.
