We are Atlanta natives who have enjoyed having a second home in the mountains that is only a couple of hours from the city. We built this cottage as an investment property. The house is enjoyed by friends, family, groups from our church and many guests who return yearly.
Chuck Williams purchased this cottage in 2007
This house is unique in that the lower level is a separate one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen. Families enjoying having reunions but perhaps the grands would like a quiet space to 'escape.' The large living space inside adjoins the wraparound porch and makes for comfortable enjoyment of creature comforts indoors and out.
We needed a place for family to stay for nephews wedding at Chota Falls. My 89 year old mother was able to move about this cabin and grounds without concern. All the utensils we needed to make meals, bake cookies and grill were at our finger tips. There is plenty of seating for meals and a playoff football game. Even in January the view was excellent and mountain trek was easily completed to and from the cabin. The Williams family made us welcome from the start with fresh flowers and a nice personal note. We used the entire facility and found that it was great to be able to have a get away from the hustle and bustle of family when we needed to by using the wrap around porches or downstairs area. Fireplaces were perfect, light switches labeled, plenty of towels, hot water is hot, refrigerator cold, with ice maker, and we had a blast. Everyone enjoyed the cabin and their accommodations. I have a picky sister so that is saying something. Plenty of puzzles but never had time to investigate them. Market, wineries and restaurants being close by was a plus. Wide driveway for parking. Entertainment system for TV and DVD was top notch and well placed. Thanks Chuck. It was a pleasure all the way around and we appreciated your quick response to our questions while making preps for the trip to Georgia.
This is our third time staying at this home in Clayton. Always like coming home. The owner is wonderful and always a pleasure to work with. We recommend this home with highest praises!
We had a great time. The cabin was so beautiful, peaceful, it had everything we needed and he was bigger than we thought. More than enough space. Mr. Charles was extremely nice and help us with everything we needed! We will be coming back real soon!
We loved the cabin. The view was amazing, especially from the hot tub. We highly recommend it.
For outdoor enthusiasts there several hiking trails from easy to difficult many with beautiful waterfalls and vistas. Many people enjoy the drive (45-60 minutes) to Highlands, NC. If you drive to Fanklin NC and take Hwy 64 up to Highlands you will enjoy the beauty of several water falls from your car. For those who like casinos, Cherokee NC is an easy and beautiful drive. Harrah's has a casino there, but also, you will find many attractions that the whole family can enjoy. White water rafting is fun for many. Both class 2 and 3 rivers are close by. Several companies offer guided river excursions. Canopy tours for those who are brave of heart are close to Clayton. Beautiful Helen GA, a Bavarian style village, is a pleasant drive and the kids can enjoy tubing in the beautiful river that runs through the village. Tallulah Gorge is a must see and has a very interesting visitors center with a movie highlighting the development of our region. There is a series of 3 lakes that were built by Georgia Power in the early 1900's to produce hydo-electricity. These lakes, Seed, Burton and Rabun offer opportunities to enjoy the public beaches or maybe rent a pontoon or other water craft and enjoy the splendor of the water while looking at the mountains surrounding the lakes. Dining in the area is varried and you can find places to eat to fit your budget--anything from Chik-fil-a to Fortify or the Lake Rabun Hotel.
