About Lynne and Tim Martin

We traveled for almost five years without a home base, living in HomeAway/VRBO properties internationally. Lynne wrote the best-selling Home Sweet Anywhere, How We Sold Our House, Created a New Life, and Saw the World about our adventures. It's now published in eight languages!

We now travel often speaking to groups about travel and the joys of postponing nothing!

sWe packed this house with every amenity we longed for as we traveled. It's minimalist but wildly comfortable with gorgeous linens, brand new appliances, heavenly beds and furniture, total privacy, high ceilings, big windows and a commodious outdoor room where we can enjoy the nature all around us. We want to share all this peace, comfort and beauty with you when we hit the road now and again! We are certain you'll love it! For a few days, a few weeks, or even longer, it can be YOUR Home Sweet Anywhere.

Lynne and Tim Martin purchased this house in 2015

Why Lynne and Tim Martin chose California

Creekside Cottage is unique. It's on a gorgeous country lane covered with an arch of oaks. There are no neighbors nearby, and the simple facade belies the dramatic interior, where fifteen-foot ceilings and windows embrace a magnificent stand of old California oaks, teeming with wildlife. Resident deer, squirrels and hundreds of birds are our only neighbors. And yet, Trader Joe's is 1.5 miles away, there are 200 wineries in the area, and the beach is twenty minutes from us. This is the perfect place for one or two couples to get away and enjoy the magnificent central coast!

What makes this house unique

You can enjoy a day of touring wineries or enjoying the area's other attractions and retreat to your private oasis for a completely relaxing, romantic evening! You'll receive a signed copy of Home Sweet Anywhere when you arrive! It's just the thing for you to read on a sun-dappled lounge by the creek!

What a lovely way to spend Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

Every Thanksgiving, we travel to Paso Robles with our closest friends. We come from Tucson, Arizona; they come from Los Angeles. And we meet. Normally, we travel on Thursday, but this year, we decided to change things up and come on Wednesday so we could have all day Thursday – Thanksgiving – to relax, cook, enjoy. And enjoy we did. The morning greeted us with deer in the back woods, and the fabulousness ensued from there.

There were several wineries open, even on Thanksgiving, so we put the turkey in the oven and went to one to officially start our vacation. We made a great meal in the spacious and well-equipped kitchen. The oven was more than sufficient, space wise, and the five-burner cooktop served us well, as did the ample serving dishes. We put on some Christmas music, using one of many built-in USB ports to power both our iPad and our satellite speakers. It was just beautiful. I wish I could post photos.

The rest of the weekend was equally beautiful.

The house is perfectly laid out, with a split floor plan. Two ample bedrooms and baths on either side, with a great room in the middle. The back of the house is nearly floor to ceiling glass allowing for a view of the wooded area behind. Out the sliding glass doors is a fire pit (which we used several times), and a grill (also used; thank you).

Inside, there's an electric fireplace in the living room area for ambiance. The European style heating and air conditioning units are tucked up high in each room and easy to use.

Everything is well labeled. From the kitchen cabinets to the remote controls, we always knew what to open for what, and what to use to turn what on. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms have everything needed. It was like staying in a five-star resort. Plus, the house is ideally located and close to just about everything.

Not sure there were any negatives to report. As with any place, it takes some getting used to, but it didn't take long. There was also a helpful binder listing everything we could possibly need to know. The owners, Lynne and Tim, couldn't have been nicer or more responsive. We're already talking about booking the house again for next Thanksgiving. And we can't wait!

5 Star Hotel Only Better

  • 5 of 5

We loved the finishes and layout of this house. It is perfect for two couples. Truly like a five star hotel only more private. We enjoyed the fire pit each night. The beds are extremely comfortable. We appreciated the welcome cheese, wine and beer for our one non-wine drinker. We would definitely stay again!

In the Heart of Wine Country!

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at this home with another couple and the design of this home could not have been more ideal. The two bedrooms are on either side of the home, separated by the beautiful great room (kitchen and living room).

Everything about this home has been well thought out; the home is new, has top of the line appliances, beautiful beds that you want to sink into, air conditioning and an incredible yard for just enjoying wildlife and good company.

The pictures say it all, what you see is what you get! We were not disappointed.

Lynne and Tim were super easy to work with, I can't thank them enough for their hospitality during our stay.

Don't go to sleep until you see the stars

  • 5 of 5

You might even see the Milky Way galaxy if you look at the right time. With the look and feel of being in your own private world, yet only a couple minutes to town, the location is fabulous.

The listing isn't lying when it says the beds are comfortable. We slept extremely well. The bedding is soft and luxurious, and the bath towels...I will have to get those for my own home.

The entire home is laid out beautifully. The kitchen has everything one needs to make a gourmet meal if you would like. Expansive outdoor seating in the back that overlooks a little creek. Perfect place for coffee or tea in the morning.

Posh, country getaway; close to everything

  • 5 of 5

This is the place you hope for when you book a vacation home. My husband and I spent a WONDERFUL weekend here the beginning of June. It was the perfect antidote to a hectic work week. The stress melted away as we drove down the gorgeous tree-lined road approaching the house. Stepping inside the house we saw through to the back wall of windows looking out over a huge patio into the surrounding trees, and exhaled. We knew we had hit the lotto. The house is clean, stylish and modern, but cozy and comfortable, with a great open concept where indoors blends into outside through the large patio doors. The fire pit in the coffee table was just the thing for the nights that cooled slightly. A fountain bubbled and we saw a doe and two fawns pass by every morning and evening. The home is the best of both worlds – secluded enough for a getaway, but very close to town and several surrounding wineries, with the ocean just a few minutes away. We were there during the “olive” festivals, and combined visiting those with several wineries, bringing some delicious treats back to the house to prepare in the well-stocked kitchen. Comfortable beds and thoughtfully designed bathrooms. Ours had a deeper-than-usual tub/shower combination. Can’t wait to go back for a longer stay! Highly recommend.
