Overview

Washington DC Townhome Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Classic D.C. Residence

Our house abuts Glover Park and is built in a neighborhood where sidewalks are shaded by Ginkgo trees and gardens are finely tended to. You will be able to watch the flow of our healthy community while sitting on our porch swing, greeting neighbors who pass by. Inside the house, we have a custom-built bookcase with a large collection of classic and contemporary literature, as well as a synced media system that can play YouTube videos, music and Netflix easily from your iPhone, or with our remote. Our kitchen has remained a modern staple complimenting the vibrant-classic feel of the living room and dining room. The outdoor patio is recently rebuilt and is a tranquil place to kick back with a good Patterson or Foer novel and eat some fresh-grilled delights. Upstairs we have one main bathroom with a tub; a guest room with a double bed, a guest room with a queen-size bed; and a master bedroom with another queen-size bed, boudoir, and side bathroom with shower.

Moving from our house and walking east on Calvert Street will bring you to Wisconsin Avenue, a vein that leads to the bustling commerce hub of Georgetown. At the intersection of Wisconsin and Calvert you will see the Zagat-applauded, Cali-Mex restaurant, Surfside (my favorite) where afterward, you can melt a milkshake at 'Max's Best' homemade ice cream where you might see the Veep eating a cone as his mansion is across the street and beyond the softball field. Enjoy a Sunday date at the 'social' Safeway and walk across the Avenue to look at the wares of the weekly bazaar. Moving south, you can take a tour of the splendid university campus or historic mansions and play tennis on public courts. Further down Wisconsin, you will find boutique clothing shops, antique bookstores and high-end shopping that embody the heart of Georgetown. As the day wanes into night, you could enjoy the view from the waterfront and walk alongside an impressive surviving relic of the American canal-building era, the C&O Canal.

During twilight, the intersection of Wisconsin and M populates with a mixed palette of personas whose evenings may begin at one of the classy tapas restaurants and end at one of the various bars and nightclubs that concentrate at the corner of Wisconsin and M Street and continue dotting north to reach the late-night establishments surrounding Wisconsin and Calvert. These include: Bread Soda - where you can play shuffleboard and eat a nice cheese platter with your drinks; Town Hall for a talented barkeep's taste on a good ol' fashioned; or the young professional nightclub, the Mason Inn, where you can dance and easily walk home from.

A quick cab or bus ride will take you to metro stations at Dupont Circle or Foggy Bottom, where you can access most landmarks in the city easily and reach any of the Smithsonian Museums, National Mall memorials, or the Capitol complex.

About Sebastian Herrick

I am a Washingtonian who was born and raised in this house before moving to Colorado. From Colorado, I went to high school in Maine, then college at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. I finally returned home after college looking for and beginning a career and seem to have found my way in the office of a Congressman from New York. I love this home and all of the memories it has provided both for me and the guests who have stayed within its walls. My prerogative is to share the good feelings fostered within this house with travelers who need a comfortable base when exploring this city.

Sebastian Herrick purchased this townhome in 1983

Why Sebastian Herrick chose Washington DC

This home has provided happiness for family, friends and tenants for the past 34 years. It has become more beautiful after remodeling the kitchen, installing bookshelves, and rebuilding the upstairs, while I have played my part in crafting a new deck and maintaining the property for the past three years.

What makes this townhome unique

I don't know how else to say it: the house has great chi. Neighbors have stopped by just to peek at our overarching dogwood tree and front yard. The lighting is what really does it though. This house has a feel for the dynamics of light and how it makes a room appear lively, especially in the living room and kitchen. Seamlessly moving from sophisticated to modern to comfortable, this house puts together different ambiances to form one unique experience.

Beautiful, clean, great neighborhood!

  • 5 of 5

The property is exactly as described - beautiful, very well maintained, in a safe and lovely neighborhood. The skylights in the bathrooms made them feel like little sanctuaries. Our family of five was completely comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need, and Whole Foods is a few blocks away. Sebastian took care to leave detailed instructions about the house, along with a list of restaurants nearby, and was extremely quick to respond when contacted. We needed a temporary parking pass and he was quick to deliver that. We would definitely stay there again!

Well Appointed Kitchen and a Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of six had a fantastic stay over Cherry Blossom Weekend!! The kitchen had plenty of cookware, glassware, utensils, and even a cheeseboard, perfect for our evening cocktail hours and dinners!

The three bedrooms were nicely furnished with queen beds, all very comfortable and with plenty of pillows & comfortable bedding. The entire house was very clean and the amenities provided were over and beyond what other properties have had that I have stayed at. We loved the back patio, and spent time on the front porch as well! There is a gas grill too!

Sebastian was an excellent host, and our group had SUCH a great stay. With Uber having such quick and affordable service, we were in downtown Georgetown in minutes, and it was great being just a short walk to Whole Foods and CVS. We would definitely come back!

Great place to stay while visiting DC!

  • 5 of 5

This house was the perfect place for our family to stay while in DC! The location was perfect, only a block away from the bus stop that could get you to the metro (and access to any of the attractions) within 10-15 minutes. It was also within walking distance to Whole Foods and tons of great neighborhood restaurants! The house was beautiful and comfortable and plenty big enough for our family of 6. Sebastian was a wonderful host and was extremely helpful!

Very nice!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed seven nights at this beautiful home and loved everything about it. We were 4 adults and 3 kids and the house gave us plenty of room. It definitely is more spacious than de pictures show.

We took the bus and the metro but also enjoyed a hike in two nearby National Parks (The Great Falls and Shenandoah National park) and visited Mount Vernon.

Sebastian was very helpful and professional.

Perfect, Charming, Cozy Home in Georgetown

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect place to stay if you are coming to visit DC, the house, the location within Georgetown is perfect, tranquil, safe, near Wisconsin Ave where you can find Whole Foods Market Place and small restaurants. Sebastian is the perfect host, always ready to accommodate your needs, and already has left things around the house for us that I thought I would have needed to pack. The house is very beautiful with a lot of charm and unique style, very comfy beds and extremely comfy couch. Love it!

Truly a home away from home...

  • 5 of 5

The owner is truly the best. We stayed at this property for several weeks while relocating, and loved it. Sebastian always replied to our questions in a very timely fashion, and he was very helpful about anything we needed (restaurants, groceries, transportation...). The house had everything we needed for a long-term stay with children, including an awesome book collection for all ages. We walked to restaurants, the wine shop, and the park all the time. We highly recommend it and hope to return sometime.

We are in a neighborhood close to one of the most active areas of Washington, DC! Walk down to Georgetown for boutique and designer shopping or take a hike through lush and mysterious Rock Creek Park. We are a mile-and-a-half away from the waterfront of the Potomac River where you could catch a massage, movie, and end a warm summer day with a kayak ride. Just up the road is the National Cathedral, and if you would like to brush up on history or enjoy fine art, travel down to the Smithsonian Museums and National Mall where you can immerse yourself in the heart Washington, DC. If you'd like a Capitol tour, I would be happy to arrange this. Also, White House tours are available, though I would need about four months in advance to book as they are in high demand. If you desire a more low-key afternoon, we are close to many coffee and tea shops as well as fine dining restaurants nearby. Even if just walking through our neighborhood on a summer day, you will find our neighbors' front lawns flowing with colorful flowers and well-kept patios, as well as overhanging gingko trees that provide just the right amount of shade.
