About the property

There are no bad days at this wonderful lake home. Rest, relax and enjoy the peaceful beauty of this beautiful spot on the lake. Have your breakfast and coffee on the wharf and watch the sun rise, then in the late afternoon bring your coffee to the front porch and watch the sun set. My favorite spot is the master bedroom where you can watch the sunrise from your bed.

For lunch you can fire up the BBQ pit and enjoy a burger by the lake in the swing. After the sun has set you can collect some fire wood and head for the fire pit and enjoy the fire by the lake or you could try a little night fishing on the wharf under the light. You might even take a night time spin in the paddle boat and watch all the lights from the lake.We want you to enjoy everything about our lake home and we will do what ever we can to make your stay the best ever. Our lake front home is only 15 to 20 minutes from the Ouiska Chitto river which has several places you can take canoes out for day trips. You will enjoy the beautiful white sand and clear running water along with the wildlife, you can have a shore lunch,do some fishing, take a dip or just sit back and enjoy the sights. After your river excursion you can continue on for 15 to 20 minutes to the Coushatta Casino Resort and with lots of excitement and plenty of good food and fun, If you want you might even take in a round of golf at Koasati pines golf course. There are 2 more very nice casinos in Lake Charles about 1 hr away. If you like to relax and fish from the bank you can take a trip to the Sunrise Catfish Farm just 10 to 15 minutes away they have poles and bait available with 6 ponds to choose from they also have a small menu and a eating area with ice cream, and if you would like they will clean your fish for you. Just one hour to the north and you will be at Hodges Gardens where you will find some of the most beautiful gardens around this area. Nature trails, cabins, boats, and campgrounds are available, or you can tour in the car if you like. The 225 acre lake and the waterfalls in the garden area make this garden a must see spot for those who love gardens. On your way to Hodges Gardens you might want to stop by and check out the Fort Polk Leesville area the home of our brave soldiers. Looking for a Cajun restaurant Just one hour to the east and you will be in the heart of Cajun country there you will find DI's Cajun Restaurant complete with real Cajun food and a Cajun band with a dance floor built for Cajun dancing, lots of food & fun available there. If you are looking for a New Orleans style restaurant then Cecil's Cajun Kitchen is only 15 to 20 minutes away in DeRidder. They also have live music.Travel to the north west 40 minutes and you can rent tubes and float down the sabine river this can be a great time lots of fun and affordable. If you are looking for a quiet day just grab your pillow and head for the screen porch or the sun room and sit back and watch the herons, loons, and egrets playing around the cypress trees, and you might even see a gator or a pelican if you are lucky,or you could take the paddle boat for a spin. You might even want to pull up a chair and night fish under the light at the end of the wharf.

Christmas 2016 at No Bad Days Getaway

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I live in Statesboro, Georgia and our dear friends live in Guymon, Oklahoma. So, for our Bi-Annual Christmas trip we decided to meet half way in DeRidder, Louisiana. The No Bad Days Getaway property was perfect for the four of us. We spent Christmas day around the firepit in the backyard, which we used every day we were there. The view of the lake was wonderful and the citrus trees produced a real treat. We put the outdoor grill and well stocked kitchen to good use preparing all but one of our meals at the house. The house was large and comfortable and even better than described. Brian, the owner, was available at all times, but we had no problems, so didn't bother him. We will definitely look at this property again in the future.

Christmas 2016 at No Bad Days Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We drove from Georgia and Oklahoma to spend Christmas week at No Bad Days Getaway in Louisiana and had a wonderful time. The house is located on a lake and is very large and comfortable. We spent Christmas day gathered around a warm fire in the fire pit in the back yard. The weather for the week was perfect for using the fire pit each night and we took full advantage of it. There are two grills there and we used them each day also. The kitchen is well stocked, so preparing meals at the house was more enjoyable for us than going out to eat. The owner, Brian, was available to call at anytime, but we had no reason to. Everything was as he said it would be. The fresh grapefruit and tangerines were a an added treat. We definitely will consider renting the house again.

Owner's Response: Hello Randall, I am so glad to hear you enjoyed the grapefruit & satsumas. They really are a great snack. Sometimes the best meals are home cooked and I am glad you took advantage of our home to enjoy your meals. You picked a great time of year to enjoy the bonfire and lake front view. I hope you all will return to enjoy it all over again. Please let me know when you are ready to book I will be glad to help! Thanks again! Brian

Exceeded Expectations and Met All Needs!

  • 5 of 5

Husband and I decided to get away for Thanksgiving with our three young kids (ages 6, 4, and 2!) to experience a little bit of country and outdoors. We arrived on Wed afternoon and stayed through Sunday. We even cooked a decent Thanksgiving feast there for our little family! This place was absolutely perfect - truly a home away from home!! Other than grocery shopping on the way there, it had everything we needed and expected, and then some. We also enjoyed the incredible views, the boat dock ON the water (so cool!), the paddle boat, the swing (kids couldn't get enough), and the big yard for the kids to run around. We made bonfires each night, roasted marshmallows, and had s'mores and hot chocolate! We ventured out on Friday to go cat-fishing at Sunrise Catfish Farm and on Saturday to see Hodges Gardens. Both were new and wonderful experiences for us Louisiana residents. Our 6 yr old son caught 4 catfish and was thrilled, and with what we all caught we did a simple fish fry that night which was delish!! (that place is awesome - big spread out ponds, and they even fillet the fish if you want!) The only thing missing from this beautiful weekend was a babysitter for us very happy but tired parents, haha!! (next time ;) But truly, this place is perfect for all ages! We'll be back soon, with and without kids. Can hardly wait!

Owner's Response: Hey Liz, Thanks! for your review of the surrounding area. The catfish farm. Hodges Gardens and just being at the camp cooking out and sitting by the bonfire roasting marshmallows, like I always say " It just don't get any better than that!" I am glad the kids enjoyed fishing, paddle boats, roasting marshmallows. When the kids are happy everyone is happy! We look forward to your return. Thanks again Brian

"No Bad Days" says it all

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky enough to stay here over the Thanksgiving weekend. My dear wife researched (extensively) all of the similar options in the area and we decided on No Bad Days. After our stay I can definitely say we undoubtedly made the right choice.

Our three young children loved the boats, dock and the spacious backyard. The firepit is a great way to spend the evening. The setting is very peaceful and tailor made for relaxing. The house is also very nice, clean and well kept. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans etc. We took the kids to the catfish farm (Sunrise Catfish Farm in DeRidder) and had a great time. Also checked out Hodges Gardens, about an hour north of the camp. "No Bad Days" is an apt name for this wonderful lake house. Highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Hello Matt & Elizabeth thanks so much for staying with us! I am very glad the kids enjoyed the paddle boats and the catfish farm. The fire pit is one of my favorite things to do after dark. I like roasting marshmellows in the fire under the stars. It can be very relaxing! I'm glad y'all enjoyed it! Next time you stay with us plan a canoe trip down the Ouski Chitto river. I think you will have a great time! Hope to see you back again soon! Thanks again! Brian

We had a great time in your beautiful home. Enjoyed the paddle boats and the beautiful lake. We had a couple cookouts with family and had plenty of room for everyone; mostly outside. The beds were comfy and we loved how much space we had. We stayed for two weeks and appreciated it that we could stay an additional two nights. Thanks so much. Wish it wasn't so far from home.

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for sharing your home. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The lot and house size are very spacious. The home was clean and very accommodating for my wife and I and our children and grandkids. We had a very relaxing time. We did a little fishing, but overall the kids enjoyed the paddled boats more than anything else. Thanks for a great time. We had "No Bad Days" at the camp :) We will definitely stay in the future and recommend to anyone else that may be staying in the area.
