Cute & cozy. Pure joy cottage is in a great location with Privacy from neighbors, and has everything you need to enjoy beautiful Saint John. There is a truly wonderful welcome basket to greet you when you arrive! The owners are nearby and friendly. The deck is a great place to have your morning coffee with a beautiful ocean view, and to see sunset glows. The cottage is nicely decorated, very clean, with a large spacious tiled shower. Some construction noise in the neighborhood. Over all, truly lovely and comfortable:)
My fiance and I stayed at Pure Joy Cottage the week of March 28, 2015.
The pictures posted don't do the house justice.
Everything from the comfort of the king size bed to the hot tub and kitchen utensils and beach bags and lotion were more then I had expected.
Christine didn't leave anything out and it had all the comforts of home.
Planning on returning next April for our marriage on the beach and our honeymoon!
We spent a wonderful week at Pure Joy. The owner has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and care-free...everything from a welcome basket of food to snorkeling equipment. She has a house on the property, but the cottage is quite private. The views of Great Cruz Bay from the deck and hot tub are exquisite. The layout is one side of the cottage has a kitchen (small, but has everything you could possibly need) and dinette, and the other side has a king bed and bathroom. So it's a bit small, but much larger than an efficiency, and overall very comfortable. It's easy to get to in the light, but if you're arriving in the dark, be sure to get annotated directions. Best boat: Kekoa sail cat, Bad Kitty for a power cat; best beaches: all, but best snorkeling at Haulover in the east end; most interesting clothes: Sloop Jones in the east end; most interesting restaurants: de Coal Pot and Sogo's; best views for drinks and dinner: Caneel Bay. You do need a jeep to get to the house, but you'll need one for SJ anyway if you want to travel beyond the easy to get to places. People say you can hitchhike, but that's not as reliable as having your own Jeep (St. John Jeep Rentals).
My wife and I stayed at Pure Joy cottage for our honeymoon in september, and my goodness what an amazing experience it was. The cottage is secluded and quit with the most generous, helpful, and accommodating owner.
The porch looks out onto the ocean with a beautiful view of Cruz Bay with st. Thomas and some other small isands in perfect view; making every morning the best you will have. We drank coffee on the porch every morning then packed lunch for the day.
the cottage is loaded with brooks and guides to the island, with the most amazing beaches and snorkeling, USE THEM and you can find just about anything you want, from sharks too sea turtles we saw it all.
There is a really nice full kitchen, which we used alot due to the fact the fish verity on the island you can buy at the groceries, offers a fun cooking experience.
The cottage is conveniently 3 minutes out of the town Great Cruz bay which is the biggest on the island, filled with amazing restaurants, fun little bars, and amazing locals that welcome and guide you in anyway they can.
This cottage in perticular made our vacation, it is everything you need and more, with an amazing bed that makes you sleep in, a beautiful bathroom with a very large shower (with great water pressure may I add better then any hotel! We know it matters) and did I mention the HOTTUB! which by the way has the same amazing view as it is on the porch.
If you love to relax and do it on your own do what we did, though it was a chance , it was well worth taking we went in so called "hurricane season" or down season, some restaurants were closed, but we had two or three days at Jumbie bay and francis bay that we had the beach to ourselves.. literally the only people it's a truly unique experience that offered the opportunity to really take it all in. Beautiful weather the entire trip.
Pure Joy has it all and ymis sure to blow yoyr expections out of the water. We have suggested this to everyone we know and will continue to go to Pure Joy for the rest of our lives , as that's what this place is... Pure Joy
P.s. say hello to the iguanas in the trees the porch over looks! They are always an entertaining bunch to watch in the morning with your coffee.
NOW GOO RELAX AND HAVE SOME FUN !!
This property is kept in a meticlous manor. The owner has not forgotten one amenity. Everything is there to make it so you can actually stay there for your entire vacation or take day trips at your leisure. This property is highly recommended and we cannot wait until we return........................
We stayed at Pure Joy Cottage for 9 nights this past February and cannot say enough good things about our experience. The cottage is immaculate and has everything you need - and the view from the deck was absolutely beautiful! Christine is a great host. She's there if you have questions and otherwise gives you all of the privacy you want. The welcome basket from Sam and Jack's was a great touch, and she has stocked the cottage with everything you need while on St. John - beach towels and chairs, snorkel gear and aloe in case you spend a little too much time on the beautiful beaches! The location is a short drive to Cruz bay and very easy to get around. We'd definitely recommend Pure Joy without reservation and hope to come back next year!
