About the property

A very cute, family, couple or fisherman friendly home in Horseshoe Beach, located right on the Gulf of Mexico with beautiful views. This 2 bedroom, 1 bath home has a beautiful glassed-in front porch overlooking the Gulf where you can watch the sun rise or set from its comfortable rockers as the dolphins swim past your porch. Or at the end of the day, you can stroll 1 block down to the 'turn-around' known as the 'Point' where folks gather to watch the best sunset view during the summer months. Situated on three lots, one ocean side and two across the street, this home has plenty of parking for vehicles or boats. The bedrooms offer a king bed and a queen bed with additional sleeping in the main room - a futon full-size bed. A kitchen with 2 refrigerators, stove and microwave, dining room table that seats 6 and a fully stocked set of dishes, glassware, utensils and cookware; a TV/stereo sitting area with flat screen TV (DirectTV service), NETFLIX, DVD player (and video library) provide all the comforts of home while you're visiting. Central heat, A/C and wi-fi throughout the house, including the porch.

If you are looking for a fancy, high-end experience, this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a relaxing, fun, interesting, old fashioned Florida vacation with your family or friends then Horseshoe Beach and our house would be a perfect fit! The house is very quaint and comfortable and we hope you'll want to come back again and again.

Katherine and I are a professional couple. She is a professor with both the state of Florida college and university systems specializing in web-based learning. I am a consultant with a primary focus in cloud based applications integrating with financial products. Our ultimate goal is to work where we travel and travel where we work.

Why Hal & Katherine Stokes chose North Central Florida

Katherine & I acquired the home through my parents. Both my sons have grown up coming to Horseshoe Beach for fishing, scalloping and family getaways over the past 20 years. We love the peace and quiet that Horseshoe has to offer. We consider this our home away from home and would love to share it with you.

What makes this house unique

This was my parent's getaway that we enjoyed coming to for fishing trips and the wonderful seafood that was available. No one dreamed when it was purchased that it would turn out to be so enjoyable for relaxing and for water activities. The 4th of July fireworks are displayed from one of the small islands directly in front of our home, giving us a front row seat every year.

Our house has seen some changes over the last few years. We've put in some hard earned time and sweat and have transformed our place from a rustic fish camp to a charming seaside cottage with all the comforts of home.

Private boat dock directly in front of the home with fish cleaning station (it is the blue dock). Free public boat ramp as well as marina with lifts for larger boats very close by (about 4 short blocks) and a restaurant and small plaza with grocery store within walking distance. Sunrise and sunset views from the house. No smoking and no pets. This vacation home, 'A Million Dollar View' is located directly on the water and there are hazards relative to staying in a waterfront home. We enjoyed our stay in this home. The owners had taken the time to make sure that toiletries and basic pantry items a family could need were stocked and available for use. The home was really clean and comfortable. The view from the living room is amazing.

We are in love with this place!

We absolutely had a great time. The house and dock where perfect for our scalloping adventure! House was very neat and clean. Lots of towels. The set up for cleaning fish at dock and underneath house was perfect! We also loved using the outdoor shower! This place has everything you need! And Horseshoe Beach is a totally cool place!

Great getaway house with awesome sunsets

We rented this vacation house July 7-10, 2016. We had an awesome time visiting with our family. We limited out getting scollops everyday we went out, which made the grand kids happy. We enjoyed the house as everything we needed was there from spices to plenty of towels. Loved the downstairs out door shower too.The front glassed in porch was a place where we sat in the mornings and the downstairs open area is where we enjoyed the soft summer breezes in the evenings. Of course we made the trip to the point so see the sunset daily with other residents of Horseshoe Beach. The weekend was more fun than I expected and we created many memories. We will go back soon! Thank you Hal and Katherine for sharing your home with us. !!!

Excellent mid summer getaway

This was the perfect getaway for the family. The location is very rural and remote... no cell phones, no supermarkets, no shopping centers, right in the middle of Florida nature. However actual civilization is only a 45 minute drive away. Scenery is spectacular and property is right on the waterfront in an area with few people so no noise or crowd issues (except for the occasional jet engine driven swamp boat in the morning). The property itself is very clean and well maintained and has every amenity needed for comfort. Rooms are spacious, climate control (essential) works flawlessly, fully functioning kitchen with plenty of refrigerator space (essential given distance to nearest supermarket), full dock with well equipped fish cleaning station, off-street parking big enough for truck + boat trailer, very friendly neighbors, a ridiculous surplus of random dogs in the neighborhood, and a fully functioning marina 300 yards down the road... everything you could ever need. Fully functioning washer and drier exceptionally useful. Also, the WiFi works perfectly and compensates the fact that there isn't a cell phone tower signal for miles around (definitely bring your iPhones, iPads and laptops if you need to stay in touch with civilization).

Immediately offshore, there are a number of shoals to explore for beaches, scallops and other marine life (a lot of snorkeling opportunities) and there are a lot of scallop beds to the south by cedar key and to the north on the approach to Steinhatchee.

The hosts of the property and very responsive and full of local information about how to ensure you find everything you need and where to locate all the services you could want. Absolutely perfect hosts.

The absolutely best thing in the region are the snorkeling, fishing and scalloping opportunities. Many many boats available for rent in Steinhatchee 40 miles to the north. Highly recommend trailering one and hauling it down to the property. It is perfect for overnight storage of a boat + trailer and a quick trip to the marina to unload. You could spend well over a week every day on the water just off the point in Horseshoe Beach and not get to all the places worth seeing on the water.

So glad that you got a chance to meet some of the neighbors and their dogs (Horseshoe Beach is a very 'dog friendly' beach community). Glad to know that you were able to rent a boat and use it while you were at the house. Horseshoe Beach is definitely a boating/fishing/snorkeling/scalloping/crabbing/shrimping area! We look forward to having you back! FYI - There actually is a Verizon cell tower within 1 mile of the home and we get great cell service there. But we have found that if you have AT&T you won't get a signal at all.

The house was clean. Really enjoyed the view. We went fishing with a guide in town and caught a lot of fish. Had a great time. If you want to fish this is the place to go! You can walk to the only restaurant. Really had a great time.
