Such an incredible lake house for our family's first trip to Fundy National Park!
Thank you Robert for sharing your beautiful lake home with us!! We had the most relaxing and wonderful 5 nights/4 days stay on the lake - one of our best vacations hands-down! The view of the lake and surrounding mountains from the large screen porch are absolutely gorgeous...we spent many hours on the swing enjoying coffee & sun rises and the musical sounds of the lake. Each day we'd see the family of loons (oh how I love their call!), ducks, beavers, a bunny, and lots of birds and fire flies, too. The frogs and loon sounds in the evening were amazing. We loved exploring the lake with the kayaks and canoe and had fun seeing our youngest learn to kayak by himself! We even took the boats across the lake to the little beach and dock for a swim. We enjoyed so much beauty and peace & quiet in this home...I didn't want to ever leave! The beds were comfortable, the house was spacious and open (loved the bedrooms on the bottom floor), and the kitchen had everything we needed for our yummy grilled steaks and PEI potato dinners. Being unplugged with no wifi was one of my favorite parts. We enjoyed lots of board games and roasting marshmallows on the fire watching the sun set (which was close to 9:30!). I loved laying on the dock in the morning listening to the birds and watching all the dragonflies. We loved that this house is the last one of the road so it's surrounded by nature and was exactly what we needed to relax and reconnect as a family. Only 20 minutes to the park for hiking which was so convenient. We loved all the hikes we chose and glad there are many left to try (a good reason to return!). We went into Alma a few times and enjoyed some Buddha Bear Coffee which is in a cool building converted from a church. We did a day trip to Hopewell Rocks at low tide. It was so cool but a bit more commercial than I imagined...but glad we saw it. We are so happy and grateful for the family memories we made in this beautiful home by the lake!! Staying here exceeded my hopes and we would love to return again...hopefully for even longer!
Well equipped lake front cottage
Large cottage to share with friends with nice screened in porch. Very well equipped and a short drive to Fundy Bay National Park.
Thanks for taking the time to write review and for your feedback.
We had a great time during our short stay in NB. This cabin is down a bumpy gravel road, but the payoff when you arrive is worth it.
Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback. We appreciate it all. I wish I could get the bumpy road fixed but we have neighbors who insist that they are Nature's speed bumps! We hope the short drive is worth the slow speed, reminding us all to slow down and take it easy more often!!!
Great property and even better accommodations.
Great place to stay
Our family enjoyed this house on Mechanic Lake. Beautiful little lake and easy to get to Fundy National Park. Just be aware there is no wifi and no cell service, but maybe that is not such a bad thing when you want to get away from it all. This was our first family trip to Canada. Friendly people, great hiking, and no traffic!
Thanks for your post and taking the time to do this. There is limited cell phone coverage depending on your carrier. Bell is the only carrier in the area and as long as your cell is with a partner of bell you will get some cell service as long as you are not moving around too much. I get cell coverage on the deck out front and in the kitchen or living room window if I use the speaker and leave it still there. Data on my phone works but is very slow. I had Explorenet and they were not much better for internet. Internet works very well on the top of the hill before you go down to the lake as well.
The lake water is almost crystal clear and shallow so makes it ideal for kayaking and canoeing. Average depth of water is 4 feet except in the middle where it is 10 feet deep. Most people come here to experience the peace and quiet, the sounds of the birds and croaking of the frogs and the clean fresh air,
especially at night when you can sleep without an air conditioner running and a cool fresh breeze coming in your bedroom window.
Gorgeous view, private, close to Fundy and other areas
We found the house well stocked with everything we needed. Robert was friendly and very helpful. Can't beat the view. Enjoyed our visits to Fundy NP, Fundy Trail, Hopewell Rocks, and St John. Seafood was wonderful. Beautiful area. Would definitely return.
This beautiful log home is located in the middle of the three largest cities in New Brunswick, about 1 - 1.5 hour from each city. You are only 3 hours from Halifax Nova Scotia or Charlottetown, Prince Edward island.
