You won't find any skyscrapers or rush hour traffic here. Come sit back, relax, feel the weight of the world lifted off your shoulders, take in all the beauty and charm of this lakefront log cabin located in the beautiful Lincoln Lakes region of northern Maine. The Lincoln area has 13 lakes within its borders. with an abundance of rolling rivers, bubbling streams, deep, spring fed lakes and warm water ponds loaded with great bass, white perch and trout fishing.
'The Phoenix' located on a dead end road, right on the waters edge of one of Lincolns most beautiful lakes, features a master bedroom, a sleeping loft overlooking the kitchen and great room with sky lights and a beautiful brick fireplace. A sitting room with cathedral ceilings and skylights where you can just sit, relax and read a book or gather with family to play board games or do a puzzle. A large full bathroom with tub just in case you want to soak away all that stress! A large deck ( about fifteen feet from the waters edge) overlooking the lake where you can cook dinner on the grill and enjoy the scenery.
At night sit around the fire pit, look up at the stars and listen to the Loons talk to each other. It is an amazing place!!
I've been vacationing in Maine with my family since I was old enough to walk. My mother is a true 'Maine-iac', born and raised not far from the cabin and although she moved away when she and my father were married in 1954 we would always end up in Maine on vacation. So in 1985 the opportunity arose and my parents purchased the original cabin that sat on this very spot. In 1994 there was a devastating fire and the cabin was lost. After not knowing really what to do my mom decided to rebuild and in 1995 my sisters named our new cabin 'The Phoenix'.
Neal Feeley purchased this cabin in 1985
If you've never been to Maine then you don't know how breathtaking it really is. Pictures or words cannot explain the calm and the relaxation felt here. You just can't find it anyplace else. To my family, it's the most beautiful place on the planet.
My mother lived in the cabin year round until late 2011 and has since decided to relocate a little closer to her great grandchildren. My sisters and I have been coming here all our lives and our children have been coming here their whole lives and now my grandchildren are coming here. Although friends and family have stayed over the years 2012 will be the first year that we will be renting the cabin. After generations it's part of us and we just don't want to let it go.
One of the most unique benefits of our cabin is that it sits at the end of a dead end road, so you never deal with any dusty traffic driving by, it is so calm and quiet. I've never had anyone, friends or family, stay at the cabin and not say ' it's the most beautiful place we've ever stayed' you get mesmerized just sitting on the deck and staring out over the lake at the scenery. or at night sitting at the fire pit looking up at the stars, you get dizzy there are so many!
This was the perfect Fall getaway location for a couple (though it accommodates a small family quite well). It feels like staying at a friend's house while they are away. Plenty of birch wood for the fireplace, excellent lake view with leaves turning, cozy even with cool weather. Everything you could want is available here - gas grill (with gas), full kitchen, TV with satellite and DVD, and so on. Very clean and well attended. Our mature golden retriever also enjoyed being there. Close neighbors but screened well. Very friendly and responsive owner. Highly recommended !
This was a very relaxing vacation. My husband fished and kayacked while I just enjoyed the sereneness of the property. Neal was great to deal with. If you had any issues, which I did not, he was only a phone call away. This really is a slice of heaven!!!!
I had one of the best vacations ever and it began at The Phoenix. I like to travel solo but The Phoenix is suitable for a couple or a small family. It was well-kept and I don't think you can find a nicer owner.
Lincoln, Maine is a little town with not much going on but I didn't pick this location for action. I chose it because of The Phoenix's charm and central location. While I was there, I went whitewater rafting on the Penobscot, visited Bangor, Bar Harbor and got the most amazing blueberry pie at Dysarts Truck Stop. But my favorite part of this vacation took place at The Phoenix where I floated on the pond in one of their kayaks while the set went down. I also built a small campfire by the shore and watched a beautiful lightening storm in the distance.
I'm still talking about my stay at The Phoenix and I can guarantee you'll be doing the same if you stay here.
This was one of our most relaxing vacations ever. The Phoenix is cozy and beautifully situated just a few steps from the water. The cabin is clean and very well stocked with everything we needed. We kayaked & fished every day, took walks on the surrounding dirt roads. A big surprise was how warm the lake was....even the baby took a dip! My daughter & son in law enjoyed daily runs and long bike rides . Bar Harbor was less than 2 hrs away...a perfect day trip to view Cadillac Mt and go on a fantastic whale watch. My daughter especially loved that she could put her 6 month old son in for his nap and then go fish off the dock...all within earshot of her sleeping baby.....she said "so much more relaxing than a beach vacation!!" We will definitely be back!
We were looking for a low stress, relaxing "do-nothing" sort of vacation this year, where we wouldn't be tempted by amusement parks or historic sites, and this property was perfect. The house is very clean and well equipped. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare and enjoy meals. There was plenty of room to eat in the kitchen, or out on the deck. The house has enough of a homey feel to make you feel comfortable, but not so much that you feel like you are invading someone else's space. It was just right for relaxing.
I was worried that the lake might be more of a swamp, but it was beautiful- not big/busy enough to create a lot of noise, but large enough to create a feeling of tranquility. It isn't a remote/private cabin- we did hear some children playing in the water nearby and saw a boat or jet ski once or twice a day, but the area was quiet enough that I'd sit on the dock reading and discover that two or three hours had gone by without being interrupted. The kayaks and paddle boats are perfect for newbies. The water is clean and clear. Other than a quick trip into town to buy groceries, we were able to stay put and enjoy each other's company. Bangor is about an hour away, so if you have a rainy day, check out the Cole Museum of Land Transportation or the Discovery Museum (for kids.)
We've had ups and downs with VRBO, but this was definitely a positive experience. The cabin and surroundings were actually much nicer than the pictures and description given. We highly recommend it!
Packing and prepping for another week at this perfect spot on Earth. We loved it so much last year we decided to return. The cabin is so lovingly decorated and thoughtfully equipped. The Lake is RIGHT THERE; perfect for a quick dip, a leisurely float, or an early morning fishing trip or peaceful kayak. Perfect location. Superb accommodations. Fabulous in every way imaginable. Thank you "The Phoenix" for rising (again) to the occasion and providing us with another week of pure bliss. Can't wait!
