The cottage has all the conveniences of home and is fully furnished (including linens). This is a remote cottage located on 1/2 acre with beautiful views of farmland and a small stream to the front. The location is fantastic for privacy and yet close to all the activities in the area.
The beauty of the custom handcrafted logs, vaulted ceilings, and covered decks, all within the tranquility of a 1/2 acre site with huge cedars and a small stream setting.
The cabin is beautiful and peaceful. Mabel Lake is a 2 minute drive which was great as we have a boat! There is a gorgeous river across the road. There was 6 of us there and it was comfortable, with 3 teenagers and my mother in law and 2 of us. This was such a wonderful place we are going again this year for 2 weeks instead of 1 :)
After a few months hard work, we managed to hide in this beautiful log home besides Shuswap River in July and had a relaxing peaceful time. It is a 10 minute drive to Mabel Lake from the house, and we loved the part that it is far away from the crowd and has no cell service! We loved waking up in the fresh air in the morning; we enjoyed moonlight shining into the living room, stirs. It was such a magic feeling to watch the blue mountains and fields through the windows in a full moon night. My husband enjoyed fishing in the river… The photos are accurate on the website, however, there is much more the photo didn’t tell. Our experiences are much better than we expected. We will definitely come back again.
Our family of 4, including 2 adult children, were very comfortable in Hugh's cabin. It was clean and had everything we needed. The highlight for us was aquainting ourselves with the Shuswap River which is right across the road. It is warm and has a gentle current which is great for tubing. If you stay, be sure to bring something to float on, or purchase it in Enderby. Our favorite float day was a 20 minute drive to Enderby, getting in at the Visitor Centre, and floating for 1.5 hrs to the great local beach. (Tuey Park) We rode our bikes to the farm just down the road to buy fresh corn everyday. Yum. The only drawback was the high iron content in the house water. It has a strong odour and is discoloured. Hugh does provide a large drinking water dispenser. There isn't any cell service, but there is a land line for local calls. We had a relaxing, enjoyable time.
8 kms from Mabel Lake resort area. This is a very private location within walking distance of the Fisheries interpretive center and across the road from the beautiful Shuswap river. The golf course is a challenging 9 hole, that is located at the resort.
