Reliable Roscoe

  • 5 of 5

I NEVER pursue a property with less than 4 stars. Recognizing properties, like politicians, cannot please all, seeing a property with consistent 5 stars and a million reviews peaks ones interest, curiosity, and a tad bit of skepticism. Well let me tell you, our 5 days at 2138 were better than many honeymoons. Rick Hughs was the consummate host with an extraordinary property. Being in town to enjoy baseball, history, museums, were made much more enjoyable having Rick's home to return to in the evening. The property was as described, clean, and most well maintained, updated and comfortable. A very walkable property 4 or so blocks to the "L" with great restaurants not to mention gelato right outside your door. Do not hesitate considering this property. One caveat however, see if Rick can arrange less humidity for this high desert person (no fear the air conditioning works great). I be back!

Fabulous rental in a great neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We were two families traveling with kids (8 people total), and 2138 Roscoe was perfect. The photos online almost don't do the place justice - it is truly incredibly luxurious and well-appointed, very clean, and perfectly situated. This is a large high-end unit in a great location! The Roscoe Village neighborhood is quiet, residential, and family-friendly with plenty of restaurants, shops and taverns (for those not traveling with kids!). We walked and/or took public transportation everywhere (even to and from the airport!) during our stay. The guest house is located just .5 miles to the brown line Paulina stop, and there is a great grocery store (Mariano's) and drug store (Walgreen's) within .5 miles in the other direction from the house. Wrigley Field is only 1.5 miles, and we enjoyed the walk home after a game. Rick is a gracious host - ready to offer helpful tips and show you how everything works in the unit. Our trip was so busy seeing the sights all day, coming "home" was a true treat. The exclusive deck was a lovely place to have a meal, entertain, or chat after the kids were in bed. There are TVs in every room, so any screen-time fans will have plenty of options. The kitchen has everything you need for meals, but with all the options nearby, take-out and delivery are equally easy. We tried John's Place (just downstairs on the corner) for take out one night and ordered delivery from Hakka Bakka another night. Both were great! In one bathroom, there is a steam shower; in the other, a jet tub, and all the rooms are a great size! The master bedroom closet was large enough to hold the foldaway twin that our daughter slept in - everyone had his/her own space. Don't miss that massage chair either - a must after a long day of sight-seeing! We all highly recommend the guest house, especially for groups and anyone wishing to have a true 'home away from home.' Thanks again, Rick, and we hope to be back!

the BEST vacation rental experience I've had amongst many!!

  • 5 of 5

5 stars barely covers how amazing this rental experience was . The property is a gorgeous, stylish brand new construction 2nd floor apartment in a classic Chicago-style 3 story brownstone. Rick Hughes, the owner/manager, is the most on-it, cool, pleasant property manager I've encountered (and I do long term vacation rentals 3 or 4 times a year). The neighborhood is really cute, a family friendly, casual-chic area that's close to Wrigley Field, the main highway, and 20 minutes to places like Lincoln Park or the Lake. There are cute shops (single-owner, not chain/brands), restaurants with outdoor seating, and plenty of street parking. The apartment is super well appointed and has EVERYTHING we needed. I just left there yesterday after an 8 day stay with some family members for my brother's wedding week, and everyone was ooh-ing and ah-ing about how nice and luxurious the apartment was. Central air/heat, immaculately clean, comfy beds, washer/dryer, two decks (1 private off the master and one general bigger one shared with building), and the surprise treat --- massage chair in the master! Honestly, I cannot speak highly about about Rick's management style and gorgeous property... and will have to make excuses to come back to Chicago just to stay here again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Great place and perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Roscoe Village June 13 to June 18. Our stay was wonderful, the description was exactly as stated. Roscoe Village is the perfect place to stay when you want to see all of the attractions of Chicago but enjoy the quiet of a neighborhood. We enjoyed walking around Roscoe and the Brown Line train station was so close to our place, it made getting into the city so easy. Rick was so nice and even saved us a parking spot, right out front! We would definitely stay there again on our next trip back to Chicago!

Great stay in a fantastic place with an outstanding view!

  • 5 of 5

I have to say that we were impressed with the place. First time users and renters, Rick and his wife were fantastic and courteous concerning all things, including working with us to allow earlier check-in since we got in thru a red-eye flight. Rick also provided us with a great room by room tour and stayed until all of our questions about the apartment and location were answered. The view out through the living room window was just amazing and my wife loved to simply people watch with some coffee in the morning. All the rooms were well furnished and everyone loved the jetted tub and we (the parents) took the rainfall shower for ourselves. The outdoor patio was great for hosting and no problems with the grill. There was something there for all of us (including our 9-month old) to enjoy and helped us just relax. Definitely keeping Rick in mind for our next trip to Chicago. Also the overall location of the place was great, we were less than 30 min from Michigan Avenue and Navy Pier, and all museums. We also found that we were surrounded with new things to drive to and see on an everyday basis.

Thank you so much Rick for making your home available for us!

Warmest Regards,

The Reyes Family
