This unit is BEAUTIFUL! If you love HGTV this is the place for you! The attention to detail is something to behold. I found myself staring at the crown molding wondering, "is that a build up or a single large piece?" We spent the Christmas holiday in Chicago and could not have been more comfortable. There is not a thing this home is lacking. Nice quiet building located in a really nice area. The first night of our stay we walked down the block to a terrific Italian restaurant. Really great food! The next morning we walked down the block to Starbucks. Roscoe Village is an $11 - $12 Uber ride from downtown Chicago. I would love to come back in the summertime! We would definitely stay here again and again. Rick is a super nice guy and very accommodating.
Although I'm hesitant to rave about Rick's place as I want it to always be available when I return, I can not hold back. This is a condo to be shared with everyone. Everything about the condo is very nicely appointed, from the large steam shower in the master bedroom to the comfy living room furniture to cuddle up on while watching a movie on the TV and comfortable beds for a good night sleep. We came to Chicago for business and would normally stay in a hotel, but decided to shake it up a bit and find a condo outside of the downtown core and get to know a neighborhood area and what it had to offer. When I saw Rick's condo on VRBO I loved what I saw, but I was hesitant at first, only because I didn't know Roscoe Village and the condo was situated above a clothing store on a main street. I was concerned there would be street noise and sleep wouldn't come easy. I called Rick to talk about my concerns and he assured me the condo was very quiet, the bedrooms were situated at the back of the condo and the street was not a loud street, so I bit the bullet and booked the condo. And everything he said about it was true. The four of us who stayed in the condo slept like babies as it was really nice and quiet, which was wonderful. We shopped at the local grocery store, Mariano's (which was the best) and Rick had everything we needed in the kitchen to create wonderful dinners and even bake coconut macaroons. When we didn't eat in, we took Rick's suggestions and went local to the restaurants down the street. They were all 5 star as far as we were concerned. Loved every meal and the close proximity they were to the condo. Even the little book shop just down the street on Roscoe was a great find. It truly felt like we were in a village with all of the small business owners selling their wares. The condo was incredibly clean and well maintained and if ever there was a question, Rick was just a text away. We also decided not to rent a car this time and instead use LYFT or UBER to get ourselves around, so we didn't have to deal with parking, snow and GPS. Everything about this place and location was so easy. I do know that the next time I come to Chicago, Rick will be the first person I contact as I will definitely stay here again. It was definitely a home away from home. Thank you Rick for sharing your lovely condo with us all. Hope to see you in 2017! Denny, Jillian, Bobby & Jim
As a family with 3 small children, we try to utilize VRBO's whenever we travel, and this was one of the best experiences we have had to date. This unit is very well done with all the amenities one would need and plenty of space to spread out - something that can be hard to find in a Chicago condo. We were also impressed with how quiet it was inside the unit. Being on a somewhat busier street you would expect to hear some noise from outside, especially during the weekend the Cubs were at home for the World Series, but not in this home. The Roscoe Village neighborhood is great, with multiple shopping, dining, and grocery options within a short walking distance. For those with young kids, there is a nice playground at the neighborhood school about a block away. We are former Chicago residents, and although we did not live in Roscoe Village, it has now become one of our favorite neighborhoods in which to stay. Finally, Rick was the most responsive property owner that we have worked with and he made our stay very easy and comfortable. We highly recommend this rental, and will certainly stay here again when we return to the city.
We had a wonderful stay on W. Roscoe Street. Our family all gathered in Chicago for Thanksgiving. The property is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. We were comfortable with plenty of space to prepare a Thanksgiving meal and easily made our way downtown for sight seeing. We were able to walk to restaurants on W. Roscoe St. Rick is very responsive and great to work with.
We were a party of 6 (3 couples all in our mid 30's) that stayed at Rick's property for 3 nights and couldn't have been more happy. This property was tastefully decorated, extremely clean and very convenient! We were in town for a rugby game at Solier Field and thought we would spend most of the 3 days in the city (and we did go down every day) but ended up in Wrigleyville most nights as the Cubs just won the world series. This was an easy cab ride away. We took the train into the city once but mostly Ubered as it was much quicker. We spent the mornings on the back porch with our coffee then again in the evening for a drink before heading out. There are great little shops, bars and a grocery store just out of the front door!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will be back at 2138 Guest house for our next Chicago adventure.
Thanks again Rick!!
Had a weekend with some family and friends and chose this place on the high reviews and pictures. Was able to use this as a place to enjoy downtown as well as other local neighborhoods. The place lived up to the pictures - probably the nicest VRBO I have stayed in - clean, well maintained, well stocked and high end finishes. The location is a little off the main parts of Chicago but easy access to the L and a great neighborhood with some nice shops and restaurants and was able to enjoy some of the local pubs while watching the Cubs games. Rick is incredibly responsive to any inquiries or questions and clearly knows a lot about the neighborhood and Chicago, loves to share his knowledge and has great recommendations for places to eat and things to do! My sister has already recommended this to her in laws for an upcoming trip to Chicago. Great place and will definitely book again when I get back to Chicago!
